  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis GV70 Reviews

Cool. Who needs a break in schedule right? That first shot looks really fast. What do you think your 0-60 time was? I also did not know the upper brake light goes all the way across..

I still can't believe there are no real reviews out there on this vehicle. It's odd to have had this for almost 2 weeks and nothing from the pro's. Kind of cool.

Raiti's has been out for a week. He does good local reviews but the big national reviews are not out yet and I've had mine for 2 weeks. Very odd.

Ugh, but ...
Awaiting what you can come up with.

One benefit of no reviews/lifting of the embargo yet is I imagine it will create a spike in immediate interest.

View attachment 37406Something seems off since the GV80 does a 5.3 0-60.

I can't imaging there is still an embargo on a vehicle that has been available for sale for almost a month. Very bizarre and I bet the big guys like Alex on Auto's and Red Line are not happy about it.

Genesis would have to provide the reviewers with test cars. Can’t imagine they have yet, or they already have and there is an embargo in effect.

My conspiracy theory is that genesis fears that reviewers will say 2.5T is the sweet spot engine for this car and they want to sell a bunch for 3.5Ts before the reviews come out.

This theory is completey unfounded. Just a result of a wild imagination and being indecisive about what trim I want.

You could be right but not having basic reviews from Car and Driver and Motortrend out at this point makes no sense. Their stuff on-line is now 6 months old. Unless Genesis is afraid they won't be positive reviews I don't get it. I follow this stuff like a hawk on many vehicles and this is just weird.

More promo than review from Motor Trend channel

That review has been out for awhile and is really just a Genesis sponsored advertisement. The real reviews are nowhere to be seen and that is odd. As someone else mentioned the refreshed 2022 Stinger was in showrooms for a month before anyone got their hands on it in the press so it appears its Hyundai group thing. They also surprise their dealers with early arrivals. Strange but it's cool having something that the press knows not much about.

Why are you obsessed with hearing what someone else has to say about the GV70? Why do you need validation from the reviewers? Are you not happy with the car? I drove mine this morning, and I have no regrets, and it's a good car. I have nothing to do today, but I'm going for another drive later today. So again, I could care less what anyone else has to say about the car. The car is a beauty, and it turns heads. It drives and handles better than my previous car, and for now, I don't have to see one on every corner.

Love the car. Just ran it through some twisties today. I'm just curious what they will have to say and you and everyone else who cares will watch them and contribute to their kids college funds with a "click". I'm nearly pointing out that it is odd that there are no press reviews yet because it is...

I have no background in this regard, but perhaps they are concerned about lower than required inventory relative to launch before lifting embargo. I am very happy with mine and don't care about 3rd party validation, though it is always great to get a different view.

It is altogether possible that Hyundai has a production limitation of some type, be it microchips or plant capacity. If that’s the case, the smart business decision for them would be to keep the pricing on the higher side and push through the higher priced models first, knowing they can’t produce what they think could actually sell. This would also make getting early reviews out not as critical as it normally would since they possibly could be in situation where they feel they’ll sell everything they can produce in year 1. Just a possibility. Unlimited production capability is not realistic in today’s automotive or manufacturing world. And Hyundai/Genesis have launched and are launching several vehicles. For many reasons, they may not be in a position to go mass market.

I’ve just ordered a GV70 Sport for my wife, due to arrive July 11. I’ll put a little review up after that if the embargo hasn’t lifted by then. I used to review professionally (Porsches mostly) and I think it’s an interesting option vs the competition. Great interior and spec but we’ll see if it can live with the Germans dynamically (my benchmark is the Cayenne GTS, a very high bar I doubt it will clear but perhaps approach). I’m not expecting it to be “fun” from my own perspective (last three fun cars- BMW 1M, Porsche GT4 GT3 Touring for reference) but the Cayenne GTS comes close on some roads, so we’ll see…

If the "professional" reviews are not out by July 11 then that will be beyond bizarre...

So there's no 40/20/40 rear slipt folding seats. Quite disappointing when the Mazda CX-5 offer it...
