  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis GV70 Reviews

Random question for owners. Is the rear seat center arm-rest supposed to unfold all the way to the seat bottom or is it supposed to stop in a straighter position? I thought mine did but when I unfolded it yesterday is went limp all the way to the seat and didn't look right.
Its limp. That must be a design flaw. It should have a lock at horizontal or maybe sit lower in the pivot so that when opened its rests on the seat for support.

Yep, apparently it expects seats to have slight recline, in order to hold horizontal.

Don't feel bad I'm on 45 cars and 3 motorcycles and now waiting for number 46 GV70. :)
Well you got me thinking I have been driving 65 years 63 legal Had 3 cars before I was legal. Just might sit down and make a list.

Yep. I had the seats up too far. That was it.. Thanks

Now that I have over 1000 miles on this thing I've started to push it harder and I have to say the more I drive it the more impressed I am. I found out just how rear-drive biased it is today. Threw it into a corner just in sport mode and hit the gas enough to get the tail end to slide out quite a bit. I was kind of surprised the nannies didn't kick in. The eLSD was felt. This thing really can rock and is definitely a rear drive platform. I think even the 2.5 will be fun as this is rear drive based unlike the Sorento I drove with that motor that even while AWD, it was still torque steering at the front end. The sound isn't as loud ( or obnoxious) as the BMW or GLC but I'm ok with that. I don't want to hear all that back-firing all the time. I'm growing very fond of this rig. If it ends up being reliable then I think its a big win for Genesis. Electric or not. Gas is more fun.

The 2.5 will have plenty of power and low end torque, but unfortunately it doesn't come with an LSD :(.

Your comments and Peter’s regarding the capability of the GV70 when pushed are very exciting. I’m more of a carve the twisties kind of driver, but It is fascinating to know that the car will handle the way you guys are saying.

Have you tried launch control? On my list when when I get it (spouses car) alone.

Anyone else ever notice how the GV70 looks so much better in the official pictures and videos than when taken by individuals? I've observed the differences and I believe it's because of a number of things of course but one important one is that you will notice that most professional shots are taken at about waist high or lower. IMO this is the lateral angle where the car looks its best, front to back. Not meaning to take away from many of the shots taken from folks on this site because some are very good.

I tried it once. Works well but will take the RPM's to redline and hold's 3rd or 4th gear until you grab a paddle. Not sure how fast it was as there is no bill in timer. At least not one that I've found. Butt meter tells me about 5.0 seconds. I'll probably wait a few more miles before doing it again. It's bloody hot here in Arizona so all performance and fuel economy are marginalized.

A simple background can also help make a decent pic for our older daily driver (since retired), even if the sun is not at optimal position. 2008 Sonata in front of twin barns.

Good excuse to take your new GV70 out for a country drive in a search for a kodak moment.

the rear at least on mine in US is approx 20% which is what im going to go with on fronts
Thanks that's what I was thinking! My buddy owns the top window tint/wrap shop around here so he is going to scan the rears to see what they read and match the fronts but I sent him a pic and he said probably 20% on fronts and I'm either gonna do 30 or 35% on full windshield. Had 30% on my hummer and looked killer but night time was a little harder to see for sure, had 30% on my X4M I sold today (what the GV70 replaced) and it was much better at night and still looked good and makes all the other windows look much darker cutting out so much sunlight in the front.

I just can't believe that there are no national reviews out here in the USA. The Canadian journalists are already doing comparison tests. Someone screwed up at corporate big time...

I watched a review of the GV70 and the guy was upset that he couldn't unlock the back doors by touching them. He made it sound like you had to unlock the front doors first. Is that true.

There are no lock/unlock sensors on the rear handles. You can program the lock/unlock features to include the rear doors. He was disappointed that there were no senors on all four doors. I know my wife RDX has all four doors and for this price point you'd expect the same on the GV70

Wow, that's a major omission. I wonder if it's a Hyundai/Kia/Genesis thing, I don't have that on my loaded Sorento either—but Volvo, Acura, most other luxury makes have had that for awhile.

I don't see the big deal with unlocking the back doors. Usually it's double click on the fob or double click on the door handle (as on my 2008 Infiniti).

Tiny baby squirrels..
