  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis GV70 Reviews

I’d think this would be obvious, but I’d again suggest you should refrain from commenting authoritatively about a car you don’t own, haven’t driven and pretty clearly don’t know f*all about.

No. I don’t see some imagined massive “upper control arm” when I look at the car *sitting in my garage*. Or a picture of it. Do you? I’d also note that the image you’re linking isn’t of an upper control arm and probably isn’t even a GV70. But I’m sure it’s all the same from behind a keyboard. Fanboys…
Why are you showing me the shock towers? Do you not know what a multi-link suspension is? lmfao

See I can doodle on a photo too. Which is a direct screenshot from the video, in case you want to make sure it's not a conspiracy theory about it being the GV70.

Get your head out of your ass please, and lay off the name-calling.

Unfortunatly for those that live in the real world rather than on the internet there is no upper link, as much as you‘d like to imagine one. As every actual owner can attest if they bother to look under their cars. But hey, I think you’ve got this one...

Okay, don't listen to me then. But please tell me what great conspiracy theory you've come up with for Genesis to call it a multi-link instead of a strut as you claim is so obvious.

edit: removed snarky bit about the Autobahn to avoid more potential mud-slinging

I’ll leave the conspiracies to you, but I might make a suggestion: “marketing”.

But by all means don’t let me stop you arguing provably, ridiculously false points...

Maybe you can get a part number for these upper links? Or a photo that doesn’t look like a Sasquatch in the fog? I know, one of the owners here can help you out: surely someone’s got a smartphone and can stick it up in the fender well to find these elusive suspension arms, right? Someone can help a fanboy out… Anyone?

Good luck with that…

Marketing... even though the G70 is already advertised as having strut suspension and gained accolades for its handling. Suddenly Genesis says the GV70 has multi-link because they're afraid of struts? lmfao

The thought of you getting so mad and pissed off behind your keyboard over this is making me laugh. Go to bed already.

Sure kid. Good luck with those pics and part numbers.

Well, I just got out of Bed! So, Multi or Strut?
Not trying to stir the pot, seriously I want to know so when I tell my friends what it has I'm correct.

Genesis says multi-link in their press releases, so that's what I'm going with. To be honest, I don't really think it makes a huge difference to the ride and handling quality, as the X3 even with its strut suspension somehow out-handles the double-wishboned GLC and Q5.

2022 Genesis GV70 Model / Packaging Summary

STANDARD FEATURES:
  • 2.5L Inline 4 Turbo GDI (300 HP/311 lb-ft)
  • All-Wheel Drive (AWD)
  • 8-speed SBW Automatic Transmission with Paddle-Shifters
  • Electric Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Hold
  • Multi-link Front & Rear Suspension

Side note for double wishbone marketing- Acura made a huge deal about their recent TLX having double wishbone front suspension for the first time. It didn't save the car from getting savaged in reviews and track tests lol.

Yep, their press release put out by their marketing department calls it multi-link. Of course every Genesis dealer website calls it a strut, but I’m sure that’s just German hacking.

Strut. In the virtual world fanboys can pretend it’s a multi-link, unfortunately In the real world the are no upper links as anyone with half a clue about what they are looking at can plainly see.

You guys need to figure out if yer talking about front or rear...LOL.
Front. Rear is multi-link.

Images from Genesis marketing material. The GV80 has a front multi-link as you can clearly see below. Note the aluminum upright that extends parallel to the shock and then the upper wishbone that ties it to the chassis. If you get under your car that’s what you’re looking for (or something like it):42FAB780-6D01-4578-947C-875C5DB77FC1.webp

Compare this to the GV70 both in the pictures before and below. Note what’s missing- no extended upright, no top links. In a strut suspension the upright is rigidly attached to the lower shock:

Wow I started a S@#T storm last night. With the suspension thong.

I don't even want to read all these posts. Look... it's one or the other... not both. Pick one and move on.

Very similiar to BMW which is referred to as a dual link strut

Can you start a new thread regarding this bullshit?!?! This thread is for GV70 reviews...not full screen pictures with hand scribbles.
I understand where you’re coming from but you gotta admit it’s very interesting. When I talk to my car friends, some in the racing world, I don’t want to look like an idiot when I tell them it has some thing that it doesn’t.
