  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis GV70 Reviews

Very similiar to BMW which is referred to as a dual link strut
Yep, see post 354. BMW’s marketing department is just as creative as Genesis’s working “multi-link” into their name for a design that has all the drawbacks of a simple strut regardless of what they try to call it.

Wow I started a S@#T storm last night. With the suspension thong.

I don't even want to read all these posts. Look... it's one or the other... not both. Pick one and move on.
You didn't start anything- this all popped up because Pete is still buttblasted after being called out on his delusional German bias in his review of the GV70. To be honest, I couldn't care less if it is actually a strut or multi-link, but if Genesis calls it a multi-link I would like to see why they did so rather than from some conspiracy theories from a German propaganda machine.

All of this ties back to my original statement- most of the reviewers are completely wrong about the GV70 sitting on the old G70 platform, when it's on Genesis's new M3 platform already in the GV80 and G80. They call it a strut not because they have spec sheets or look under the car, but because the G70 platform uses struts. They're not even consistent as publications like Car and Driver called the GV70's front suspension a multi-link in their test drive.

Nope, I'm just not a fan of disinformation. Or overconfident ignoramuses' who pedal it...

Do let us all know when you find that top link.

“the GV70 body leans very little in corners”

Compared to what I wonder?
You've obviously never driven a Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro. My previous vehicle. Any curve over 15MPH, you felt like you'd flip right over!

lol that's really rich coming from you, bud. Did you not get any sleep last night like I told you? I don't follow conspiracy theorists.

If the 4Runner had a German badge on it he would exclaim how it was bred for the Autobahn.

Objectivity and fact, enemy of fanboys the world over.

... I'm almost afraid to ask: so does that mean the GV70 is on the G70's C2 platform or the GV80/G80 M3 platform? The M3 platform seems to use an A upper control arm, vs the GV70 not using it. A lot of US publications say the GV70 is on the G70 platform, though they usually get details like that wrong. But on the other hand, I haven't seen the contrary on any publications yet, saying the GV70 is on the GV80/G80 platform. But the details on the GV70 and M3 platforms supporting electrification and new engines make sense too...

All the Korean videos I've linked going through the underpinnings say that it rides on the M3 platform. "Platform" is used somewhat loosely here as even the G80 and GV80 don't have the same underpinnings- the G80 uses a lot more aluminum components in its suspension architecture than the GV80. Savagegeese does a great job going over the differences.

The claims of the GV70 riding on the C2/G70 platform originated from rumors back in 2019 that none of the U.S. press has bothered to double-check again, just like how they regurgitated that it would use the old 3.3TT even after it was unveiled.

So that Edmunds video was another Canadian review Aye? Where's the rest?

Can someone confirm there is an easy way to turn off HUD in the 3.5T Sports Prestige? It is a good to have feature but I found it distracting when I test drove G70.

Yep, at 2:25 timestamp

Car & Driver’s summary review is up: 9 out of 10. They’re biased towards sportiness so they’ve got the Macan ahead followed by the AMG GLC and X3. Audi is way back in 13th for the Q5 and 15th for the SQ5. Seems about right to me for a more performance focused audience (I’m not a big fan of most Audi chassis tuning). If you prioritize luxury or practicality more (most probably do) the GV70 moves up...

Thanks for that. Another good review. I find it interesting that they said the 21' wheels sacrifice 2 mpg's a gallon. I didn't think it would be that much. I think that is the biggest knock I have so far after 2000 miles. Fuel economy on the 3.5. Yes my foot is a bit heavy but I'm only averaging 16 MPG's and I'm not ever in heavy traffic. Some of that is the penalty paid when it's over 100 degrees everyday her in Arizona but still.... That M340i somehow manages to do much better at the pump. Normally I wouldn't care but we know how prices seem to be going nowhere but up and I'm going to do some longer road trips soon so I hope as the engine breaks in more I'm going to see at least 25 mpg on the highway at speed.

Forbes review read like a spec sheet. And I wish reviewers would do basic research before making up statements like this:

The difference might be more comprehensible if the two models had a wider price delta, but as it stands a fully loaded GV70 hits around $64,000, while a top GV80 comes in at around $66,000.

A fully loaded GV80 3.5T Prestige is around $74K. $66K is the Advanced trim. If they're going to spend the whole review regurgitating a spec sheet, at least do it right.

What driveline mode are you in? I‘ve re-set my custom modes to “adaptive” instead of sport and it’s helped mpg (but it has contributed to a bit more throttle lag). It’s a bit early to say but I feel like it picked up a couple mpg in around town use (which I agree is pretty terrible in the normal sportier modes). Highway at 80+ I’m at 21.5 mpg, a couple mpg lower than one might hope but not terrible given the speed.
