  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis GV70 Reviews

The comments on that article have a super salty guy. It's worth clicking the link just for that.
I don't know if you mean activeuro or if there are more comments I didn't see, but ignoring the tortured syntax, I liked this line:
How can you compare Korean garbage which will kill you in a crash, note Tiger Woods,
I didn't realize Tiger Woods was dead [sarcasm obviously]. In fact I understood the GV80 safety features helped keep him alive (someone, though it may have been a Genesis employee, said the uncommon centre airbag was a factor).

[added: according to Wikipedia, the LA Sheriff agrees with my understanding]

Yep... he loves it

Great video -- particularly for the fact this is the color combo I would buy (Red/Blue)

The heads-up display is the reason why I would splurge for the 3.5 Sports Prestige package as it's the only package it's available on. However, this is the first time I am hearing that if you are wearing polarized sunglasses (and who doesn't) the HUD cannot be clearly seen? Can anyone confirm this?

Also, how is the 3D overhead camera accomplished? Always wondered about that. Where is the camera located on the vehicle that it gives you an overhead view (far above the vehicle) of the surrounding area?

The 3D camera works by talking the input from all the exterior cameras and projecting a "view" from above.

Dalloz Creations Vi/on lenses (currently used in BMW branded sunglasses) seem to work with HUD.

I love how so many of the reviewers have to come up with the big counter point about the GV70 they hang their hat on the dual nobs 😂 So confusing…omg I’m supposed to function with all these complex decisions? Just like my Palisade I had to sit in front of my driveway for a half hour trying to figure out how to press the R button 🤪

And those that want the GV70 to handle more athletically go buy a sports coupe. I traded in my 2021 BMW 430ix and yes that would eat my GV’s lunch in the twisties but this is a SUV for goodness sake. I can’t even wash the top of my GV without a ladder….duh. You don‘t want this vehicle‘s awesome comfort with a little juice…go buy a sports sedan/coupe!

Good review though!

Thank you for that explanation. That's pretty remarkable technology.

It’s impressive that The GV70 is even considered in a head to head with Porsche! I read in one of the public comments for Savage Geese’s review of The GV70, that in South Korea they call The GV70 “The Korean Maccan”.

In this review, The GV70 won, and that was with the Michelin Primacy tires! Imagine if someone put some better tires on The GV70? Total domination! Lol. Genesis is killing it! And they’re safe to boot!

So I guess he likes Eh? No one ever mentions the wind screen that pops up with the sunroof fully open. Great idea, you can actually drive with it open and avoid the pressure differential and noise common in other designs.

Nobody is realistically cross-shopping a Macan and a GV70. Genesis will maybe nab a few Audi Q5 customers, maybe. Macan driving dynamics are insanely better than the GV70. You can feel the body roll when you can the GV70 on corners, and you absolutely cannot compare the PDK to the in-house Genesis transmission. A change in tires will not narrow the gap between the two vehicles considerably.

The GV70 beats the competition on interior, totally agree on that. They don’t beat any German in this segment on performance and handling Can’t really say much on value when I ordered a fully loaded ‘22 X3 M40i for less OTD than the 3.5 Sport Prestige since they gave me an MSRP discount.

We did. Almost bought a Macan S. Head to head, the Macan S ride is rougher without air suspension, back seat room is tighter, interior no where near as plush, and has less cargo room. Previous review is spot on.

Agreed on the interior. I was commenting more on the ridiculous notion that the GV70 would come close to Macan performance and handling with better tires.

For me, the GV70 shares too much Hyundai-Kia group stuff. Infotainment is largely identical to my partner’s Telluride. GV70 navigation even points out Kia dealerships on the map, probably because there are barely any Genesis dealers. Genesis will never lose the Hyundai association because you’re currently buying this car at the back corner of a Hyundai showroom, next to the guy with a 500 credit score haggling over an Elantra.

Incredibly ironic statement. You are aware that the Macan shares the same platform as a cheapo last-gen Audi A4, dating back to 2007?

German badge snobs have the most hilarious double standards.
Sure, but that shared platform doesn’t really matter when you’re the best performing compact SUV. Also, last time I checked Porsche navigation didn’t show me where all the VW dealers were at. Little details.

People realize we are buying an SUV not a race car right? If you are looking to hit corners at 80 mph or taking it to the track you're buying the wrong car.
