If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Guys, today I was driving back to work during lunch and I took a call on the integrated bluetooth that comes standard in the tech package. The call was fine, but I noticed two things, it does not pause your audio source so that it can pick up where you stopped listening when you took the call.

2nd thing was that another call came in and it gave me the option to put 1st call on hold, hang up with 1st caller or ignore 2nd caller. That message will NEVER go away if I hit ignore a million times. Even when the 2nd caller hangs up it stays there until I am off of my first caller. I tried hitting the nav button to bring up the map and it stays front of the map.

Has anyone else had this issue?

1. Pause your audio source! Your audio source must be a disc or MP3 and I would not expect it to pause either one. (You must expect an automatic off with those). If your audio source is your AM/FM/XM Radio, you really don't expect that to pause unless you have
"Radio Ti-Vo"

2. Although I've never had a second call come in while on the phone in the car, I don't think it would bother me

As they used to say on "Laugh-In" (TV show of many years ago), Picky Picky Picky.

The only reason I noticed it is because last year I put in a Kenwood DNX-8120(7" nav screen, bluetooth, backup camera, etc) into my 2006 Sonata and when a call came in, it paused my iPod or CD or Mp3 until I was off of the phone. It then would resume play where I left off. The bluetooth functionality of that unit was also flawless. It performed as any of us would expect.

The pausing thing I can deal with but a screen I can't get rid of until I end the call does. Suppose I have a active route guidance going on and I receive a phone call. It isn't acceptable that I can't get back to view my map to help me get where I am going just because I am on a call. It may be picky, but for the amount of money we put into these cars you would think a 4K system would perform in the same manner of 1K system.

OK update on the situation. I haven't yet had a chance to bring it in to the dealer, but as stated before I still cannot ignore a 2nd call coming in and actually have my phone drop that call and get rid of the popup screen that prompts me what to do.

With that being said, I tried the other options, hold 1st call, end 1st call. None of these work at all and the screen just pops up again. Meaning, I cannot even switch over to the incoming caller.

Has anyone else had this issue? It is very annoying and the only thing thats killing my experience with the genesis. Otherwise I LOVE this car.

Thanks in advance.

I just purchased a 4.6 with tech package and experienced the identical situation to you yesterday. I could not get rid of the popup screen with the second caller no matter what I tried until the first caller hung up.

This is extremely annoying and I will tell the dealer about it this weekend. I will let you know what I find out.

Otherwise love the car!

OK Got an update on this issue:

I am using a Blackberry Storm 2 9550. My service manager called me on Saturday and told me to bring it in that they were going to replace my head unit and to bring it in this morning. I brought it in this morning. One of the service techs who is their genesis guru had been on the phone with several engineers at Hyundai. He has a blackberry bold 9000 with AT&T. Before he brought it back to replace the head unit he told me to test something with him. I turned the bluetooth off on my phone and he paired his phone up with my car...he called the other service manager and had me call him while he was on the line. I hit hold 1st call and it worked just like I would expect it to. I was able to then swap between both calls back and forth. He said the engineer told him the same thing that he has problems with his storm. I will try to update my software and see if it fixes the issue but its annoying. Obviously now they see no reason to replace the head unit as it appears the issue is with my phone.

He also told me the 2010 Tuscon syncs everything, from contacts to music, photos and video, so you can access it all from the head unit. Why they didn't put that in the 43K vehicle is beyond me.

I noticed the #1 issue you listed. Was kinda bummed that it didn't pause the music source. No biggie.
However, #2 issue seems like a valid problem.
I haven't had a chance to receive a call waiting while connected to the car, so I'll test it sometime this week and let you know.
I have iPhone btw.

BlueConnect is the vendor who makes our bluetooth systems apparently. If you go to jciblueconnect.com and click on find/pair a phone. Click on by manuafacturer and click on blackberry and look for your phone. It says that the for my phone Storm2 that all bluetooth features are compatible except for call waiting!!

The phone my dealer was using the Bold 9000 was compatible across all features.

On the flip side, hyundai publishes a bluetooth compatibility pdf file and lists the storm2 on there as passing the test for multiple call handling. It was tested in 2009 and passed everything. Seems like conflicting information here. Any thoughts anyone?

If you are talking about the Lexicon/DIS system in the Technology Package, it doesn't use the Johnson Controls BlueConnect system, but rather something integrated into the Harman Becker Lexicon/DIS system. The non-Technology packages in the 2009 use a non-integrated Bluetooth unit (BlueConnect) that replaces the sunglasses holder. The 2010's use something different, except on the Technology package, which is the same as 2009.

Since there are three or four different Bluetooth systems possible on the Genesis sedan alone (different depending on the trim and year), it can get rather confusing. I'm pretty sure the underlying systems are different, so compatibility of specific phones will probably vary from system to system.

I was just told that by the rep at blueconnect just that. I am on the line with Hyundai Customer service as we speak.

If you go to jciblueconnect.com, click on Help, and then click on User Manual, you'll see what the JCI BlueConnect module looks like. It sounds like the people you're talking to think that you have such a unit, which was used on 2009 Genesis sedans without the Technology Package.

Also, on the same site, under "About" here's the description:

Blueconnect is a Bluetooth in-vehicle Handsfree System that is integrated into your vehicle's overhead console or headliner so it has the appearance of being factory installed.

EDIT: Further, I just checked the diagnostic menu on the DIS of my Tech package and took down the Bluetooth MAC address. The OUI of the MAC address corresponds to Temic SDS GmbH, which is a subsidiary of Harman International and provides the Bluetooth and voice recognition in Harman Becker systems. HI is the parent company of Harman Becker, the manufacturer of the Lexicon/DIS system in the Genesis Technology Package.

Yes, JCI told me that I don't have their unit, so thats why they transferred me over to hyundai. I got a message from the woman I spoke to at Hyundai on the Genesis team asking for me to call her back today at 9:30a central time when she comes in so I am waiting an hour to call her back. She says she has an update on my situation and what I can do. So we shall see.

Thanks for all of the help guys. If you run across any additional information in the meantime, please post it hear...this is the only frustrating thing about the car to me. Otherwise I absolutely love it.

Soooo the update was to update my phone's software...lol...

I did a little research. The Blackberry Bold 9000 that worked in my car has bluetooth v2.0 and the storm 1 and 2 both have bluetooth 2.1 +EDRI. Not sure if the new v2.1 is incompatible or not.

Not sure how to downgrade your bluetooth version to test this and blackberry support is pay per incident and there is no guarantee that they will resolve your issue.

Any thoughts anyone?
