  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Get the map updated - cheaper / easier now

Do I write over the SD card I received in June for my 2015 Genesis map update? My preference is to buy a new class 10 32 GB SD card so I can go back to the old version if the update doesn't work. Anyone tried a specific SD card? If the update works, I can switch back to the "official" SD card for my next update.

There is no going back without a hack. Overwrite the old card and save your money.

Although, the "official" 8GB card is usually too small for the downloaded map pack. You'll be needing a 32GB card (the latest update package is 23GB) But the card reader tops out at Class 6 speeds, hence the reason for the really long update times.

For my 15 I just went to WM and bought a cheaper name branded higher speed 32GB SD card and loaded the map and it worked fine.

I just checked. I actually have a spare 32 GB class 10 SD card, so I will try it before erasing the 32 GB card I received from Genesis.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I just used the original SD Card that came with the car. I have a few available, I think this is about the 4th update I've done. The Updater Program loaded V14.10 on it and the installation to the car went without a hitch. I didn't need to format the SD card, the Update Program just wrote over the original. Installation to the car took about 40 minutes. Still have the new SD Card coming in the mail tomorrow.

anyone with the 15 touch notice that it takes 2 or 3 taps to turn on the radio with the knob?

I never turned the radio off. Turned the volume low or muted, never off.

Can anyone explain what the camera/traffic light icon on the dash does and how it works? It was added to my 2015 with the latest map update. It is there sometimes and gone at others.

Hello all, looking for troubleshooting advice. I have the 2015 Hyundai Genesis (8 inch screen). I successfully downloaded the navi update available from the website...

The map update is fine. As many have mentioned the colour scheme will hopefully be updated at some point…

The issue I have is that I listened to my music collection in the vehicle using a USB key. This functionality seems to have been taken away with the navi update. The various possible options to access on screen are in dull text and the icons are "dormant".

Since I have a 2015, I don't believe I can use Apple Car Play or Android auto.

Any ideas to workaround?

Thanks
i have a 2015 and with the last update i have the apple car play

This card will work its what i used to do my update in my 2015 3.8. The update is good and it includes the apple car play and android auto. And they both work

DOH! Feeling stupid...

For those of you that saw my navigate to destination via stellar routes (i.e. around Venus or Mars first) - I think I figured it out. PICNIC. It's still IMHO a poor 'feature' designed in the software, but read on for an explanation.

It appears that regardless of what options you select (avoid tolls, avoid ferries) - the new navigation will plan the first route - guess what - AVOIDING TOLLS. I say the first route, because once you select a destination - it doesn't really start navigation yet. Instead it takes you to the next screen where it calculates and displays the FIRST route it's going to come up with (yea - the one where it avoids tolls even though I did not select that in my choices). Before you tell it to really, really, really go - if you wait a minute, an alternate route comes up! After the display of the first route, it starts calculating another. Since we were not given that choice with the old software, I had never waited for another route to be prepared - we'd simply choose - yes go there you numnuts - that's what we asked for!

Today after playing, I realize that before the final "commit" selection (i.e. start navigation), after another more several seconds, an alternate route comes up. Guess what - it's the shorter faster route - GEE WHIZ - ON TOLL ROADS. Note - in every instance we've seen so far, this secondary option is shorter and faster - but does it calculate both options first before giving you a choice? No - it does a calculation avoiding tolls, displays it - then goes on calculating others. So... the numskulls programmed the device to calculate a route biased on an option I didn't choose (avoid tolls). Then, secondarily, it decides to look at a toll option (that is shorter, faster, and most desired).

It's still too stupid to dump us off the Florida Turnpike at the exit next to my neighborhood (it takes us a few miles south or north then runs surface roads roundy roundy - really stupid) - but I have my workaround for that. I simply add a waypoint I have in memory that is the exit across my neighborhood and it seems to do well. A little extra work, but not that bad.

Now that I know this software 'feature' - my wife and I are a bit happier.

Have you checked your settings? Last update it defaulted to "avoid tolls" but once I unchecked it, it never gave that option again.

I used it today and it did give me a choice but the second choice went away before I could really see what it was. Neither would have involved toll roads but one was highway and longer. More experimenting needed.

I did put in one trip and it told me 18 hours. Android auto have the same route at 16 hours mapquest says 17 hours. I may do that trip again next month so will check closer. Time of day at a couple of points makes a huge difference.

To your question EdP:
"Have you checked your settings? Last update it defaulted to "avoid tolls" but once I unchecked it, it never gave that option again."

First thing I did. The only preference I had was avoid ferries (now unchecked in my experiments). Yes, I noted it is conservatively long in it's travel predictions as well. At least now we get more reasonable route choices (via the moon vs. Mars).

My daughter lives 30 miles/50 minutes from me. After the last update I was at her house and thought I'd try the new nav just to see what all is different. I put in "home" and it gave me 150 miles and 3 hours. Yeah, it would save me $1.50 in tolls though. Checked settings and saw the check box. It went around Tampa bay instead of crossing it on toll bridge.

Dino696 - my 2015 5.0 was manufactured in Jan of 2015 and the update was done with the SD card with no issues. I didn't know (and not sure if) a USB is an option.

Some people have made the mistake of moving the downloaded folder name on the computer as the parent folder on the SD card. That should not happen. Instead, move all the files and folders that got dumped into that single folder (on your computer) over to the root folder of the SD card.

I do it twice and still the button is greyed out. I have the New map but without upgrade media.
