Got to experience the v8 and it was great

Ok I got to experience the v8 and it was great; you get to choose the v6 or the v8 to drive. You first start off on the slippery mat that has water on it and they want you to slam on the accelerator to feel the slipping then the traction keep in. Then while still on the mat, slam the brakes to feel the anti-locking. I have to say the anti-locking was good and quick, granted I wasn't really going that fast on the mat either.

The best part to me was the course of turns and curves. I was driving through those really fast that my pregnant wife was being tossed from left to right (while in the seatbelt) in the back. I took those turns fast with no braking. I feel sorry for the rep because I think he was suppose to be telling me about the car but was too busy trying to not show fear of my driving. The traction on the v8 was great! it was very responsive to my driving (not a race car driver at all, but we would have been doing 50-60 around the turns/curves if my wife wasn't in the car). It's hard to explain, just think of where they say that it's a professional driving on a closed course; I was driving like that! Quick turns to the left, quick turns to the right, full 180 turn. The whole course had cones of course to guide you through.

They even had a Mercedes and Cadilliac for you to test drive on the course as well. All in all, it was a great way to experience a car before you consider buying it.

Oh many people left without getting the coupon because you had to ask for it. So just remember to ask about it.

My wife loved it and we are in "talks" right now.

Sounds like it was in a parking lot, right? Was there area to test straight line acceleration? I've heard that the V8s are pre-production, 3.8 trim with the V8. Did you notice the seats, what did you think? Did you have to hold yourself in the turns or did the seat keep you planted?

I'm scheduled for the Philly event this weekend. This is in a parking lot.

Definitely want the coupon, even if I end up giving it away. Thanks for the tip.

The seats in the V8 seemed exactly the same as the V6 to me. Certainly not noticeable enough to get a special distinction like ultra-premium. I was hoping that this was because it was a pre-production car, but I haven't heard any official confirmation.

I drove on at the Taste of Dallas event and the reps I talked to there (who don't work for Hyundai) didn't know the answer to this

I drove a V6 Genesis with the Tech Pack on Saturday. I also drove the V8 with the Tech Pack at the Taste of Dallas event. I can't tell the difference in the leather. They were both very nice.

I guess it is possible that the V8's at the Genesis Tour are pre-production, but I sure could not feel any difference.

Thanks for posting! The torque rating you quoted in the 2nd video is technically incorrect. With premium the HP is 375 and the torque is 333. With regular unleaded the horsepower drops to 368 and torque to 324. In the first video I noticed the guy you were driving with said he says he doesn't have specs on the V6 and am I correct in hearing him say 5.8 seconds 0-60 for the V8? Maybe he should read the brochure and other literature published by Hyundai. The brochure states 5.6 seconds 0-60 for the V8 and Hyundai has stated elsewhere the V6 is about .5 seconds behind the V8 in terms of 0-60 acceleration, which would put it much closer to 6 seconds 0-60 than 7.

Either way, good job. I like the music choices. The V8 is so subdued I can't really tell a noticeable difference in sound from the V6. What were your impressions on the sound of the engines?

It was the parking lot deal but it very spacious (parking lot of a football stadium). The seat was great! Now I know the difference between leather in the v6 and PREMIUM leather in the v8. the v8 feels like suede leather just without the suede look. Now when I mean feel, I mean to the touch. Sitting down I didn't feel any cushier. The seat kept me plenty planted; never got bounced around the seat. To really get a feel for the v8 leather, you need to feel a v6 leather at the same time (or run back and forth), then you'll see what I mean. I don't know if it was pre-production, but when I sat in the v8 to test drive it, I had to sort of lift off the seat and then sit down because I couldn't really slide across the seat. It was as if my the seat was gripping my jeans in place.

Oh and I liked the rims that they had on the v8 as well. they sort looked like the BMW rims that have many spokes and sort of has that middle indentation as it gets to the wheel cap.

Leather with a suede feeling, huh? That sounds interesting.. I can see how that would really keep you planted in your seat. The V-Series Cadillacs have suede to keep you held-in..

I had a Dodge Ram 1500. The leather interior had suede inserts. I don't know why but it sure was nice and helped keep my back from sweating while driving. This is my biggest complaint with the F150 I am currently driving. The leather is the closest thing to vinyl you can get. It's like sitting on saran wrap! The good news is that I believe I can lose about 10 lbs. on a road trip!
