GV60 Canadian Deposit - Local Dealer Information & Timelines

Opposed to canceling the deposit and allowing them to move on to the next customer in line the best bet for those dissatisfied is probably to wait until the car shows up and then walk away, get the deposit back and leave them to sell a car not necessarily to the next customers spec

That’s unnecessarily spiteful.

I agree. With the Ioniq 5 Ultimate coming in just over 60 and the BC and federal rebates essentially cancelling out tax, that leaves the GV60 with tx around 20k more as you say. And I guess that also makes me a value buyer, because I don't think it is that much of a step up.
Yeah, the only significant differences I see between an Ioniq 5 ultimate and a GV60 performance is 3/4 second faster 0-60, different colour choices, leather seating, adaptive suspension, 21 vs 20 inch wheels, better stereo, party trick biometrics, otherwise its essentially the same pony minus less rear leg room in the Genesis. I love to say the brand and upgrades are somehow worth the 22K premium but I am just not seeing it.

My son is picking up his AWD long range model Y this week. He ordered it in November and is paying $72K, way better deal. Even at today's Y prices Tesla would be a contender.

I think at this price I will walk away.

$79K isn’t outrageous for me. My GV60 decision will be based on how I feel about the vehicle in person and the final features/specs.

Model Y starts at $84K, so no savings to be had there.

I agree with the previous comment that the EV6 is the GV60’s greatest competition. Assuming one values the additions the GV60 brings, let’s see if we can justify the $20K difference in price…

Polestar charges $7K for their performance upgrade on the P2 which provides an additional 70HP, so what’s the extra 160 of the GV60 worth?

B&O sound system was a $4K upgrade over HK in my AMG.

1” of wheel is typically a $1K upgrade

Leather often runs a $3K option price

adaptive suspension $2K?
Improved infotainment, pano roof, seats.. Got to be worth something.

Not sure if it‘s $20K, but not outrageously far off. We all have our own perceptions of value, but the market will ultimately decide. If the cars are all sold soon after arrival, then they were worth $79K.

Financing rates:
24 – 48 month @ 3.90%
60 – 72 month @ 4.40%
84-month @ 4.90%
Did you see something with the financing rates or are you assuming they’ll be similar to other Genesis vehicles? Those rates are too rich for me, I’ll just pay cash.

I was pleasantly surprised when Ioniq 5 prices were released, so much so that I actually upgraded to the Ultimate from the Preferred AWD Long Range. Unfortunately not the case for the Genesis GV60. Sounds like there will be a mass exodus of pre order holders, which is probably good news for those who will proceed with the purchase and get their vehicle faster. Before I cancel, I'm going to ask my Genesis dealer if there's any chance at all I can get something off the MSRP; even something as little as $3,000.00 might be enough to sway me. I'm guessing this won't be happening.

The Genesis model is supposed to be free of haggling, so I suspect this would have little chance of success, even prior to Covid. With EV demands at their current levels, I suspect your little chance of success is now 0 chance.

Got it from my source. The rates should show up on the site in about a week or so.
Lease rates not available yet.
Also so far no loyalty rate reduction.
Hopefully there will be some sort of rate reduction for current Genesis owners!

One would hope so, but I am going to speculate no. In contrast I was able to get $1000 off my Ioniq 5 for loyalty and military service rebates.

Price is very disappointing. I wouldn’t mind paying a bit of a premium over the Ioniq 5 ultimate, but $14k is pure greed and the car just isn’t worth it. I agree they’ll still sell them given the current climate, which is the only reason they can price this high. To not even look for a way to qualify for the federal rebate also shows what they think of their customers.

Honestly, it turns me off the brand and leaves a sour enough taste that I won’t look at them again. A fool and his money are soon parted. I won’t be a fool for this fledgling brand that pretends at ‘luxury’.
For the price difference, I’ll just wait out an Ioniq, which in several ways is a better car and is certainly better value. I can keep putting gas in my current car for another 5 years or so with the savings, even at the current gas prices.

Since when did luxury and value go together?
Genesis is already established so they can inch up in price now.
They’re no more in the market penetration stage!

Agree. If you read most reviews of current Genesis products, comments on quality abound. Though, I watched a Consumer Reports video yesterday where someone said that they felt the GV60 didn’t quite meet the standard of prior Genesis cars.

Look, I'm not saying it's a bad car. I think it's pretty great, after all, I was planning to get one. However, a premium product should add value to justify that premium. This car has the same.... pretty much everything as the Ioniq/EV6. Vs. the Ioniq, it has a nicer interior, but gives up cargo space. Most other differences are minor. To me, that doesn't justify the $14k difference. I'd be willing to pay maybe $5k more, with also the expectation that the delivery would be much faster than an Ioniq - which now seems questionable. There is just not $14k of added value in this car.
It's not about the price, it's about getting what you pay for - personally, at this announced price I would feel like I'm getting ripped off.

I really don’t understand why so many people seem to be taking the sticker price as a personal insult. There should be no emotion involved here. They get to decide what to sell the vehicles for, and we get to decide whether we want to spend that much. That’s just how things work.

I may slightly revise NLJ’s comment, and say that you can’t compare the value equations between luxury and mainstream brands. When compared to its E-GMP siblings, the cost equation for the GV60 will be tough if you’re not someone that values the sorts of things it provides. However, if you compare it to other premium brands, I don’t see a competitor that clearly provides better value.

Lets get some perspective here. In the US Genesis sales represent 0.12 of their market share or around a total of 21,000 vehicles per year. BMW sells around 330,000 vehicles last year in the US. Realistically many of the existing vehicles in the Genesis line up are relatively anonymous compared to the offerings from other major luxury brands and often the only reason they are considered by consumers is because they give the appearance of good value when compared to other luxury vehicles.

agree, lots of people however, prior to the announceent of the price, would believe Genesis should price below the Fed/Provincial grant pricing.

But however, we just cannot hope for that really, the GV70 is already priced close to 60000. On average an EV starting price is 20k beyond similar size ICE counterpart.

We all understood, GV60 is a cousin of the Ioniq/EV6. It probably not going to worth 20k more to some.
But its an Genesis, Genesis want to make sure its not a upgraded Hyundai or EV6.

It's not luxury to the mass, but a car that can compete with other luxury brand. However, I personally found as well, the P2 and XC40 when similar equip, they both qualify the grant, since they have the FWD variant.

Now you wonder, why they Genesis cannot do package on the GV60 to sit below 70000$ max limit; Gods knows. Sales figure will tell.

I guess you need to commit to the order before the vehicle goes into production / VIN is assigned to your order.

Yes, I guess their demand is far greater than their production. Also, they need to create a base model before $60K to be eligible for the iZEV rebate.

Some of us including me, we're told that the production will commence based on the initial deposit and no further commitment. Not sure if there's truth to that but some here were assured that their vehicle will be going into production soon.
