Just got off the phone with my dealer.

For the record, I placed a deposit on March 23rd for a White on Black Performance in Montreal.

My production date went from 2023 to November 2022 after some cancellations following the price announcement. This can still change. I did not ask for my rank.

He also confirmed that the "list" is maintained by Genesis Canada, not by dealer or region, and when/if a customer refuses the car, it is offered to the next in line in Canada. I assume this is before the car gets to the dealer of course.

He also told me that the price is not 100% guaranteed before I get a VIN, even if the car will be a 2023. We should receive something from Genesis Canada explaining this in the following weeks...

Visited my dealer yesterday for the test drive.

He showed me the list for his dealership, and my production date went from November to September, expecting delivery to Canada somewhere in November. He completed my credit application and did look at my exchange while I was there with my spouse, and this was updated instantly online on the acquisition portal.

Had the chance so see my exact color combination on a car that was about to be delivered and I am quite pleased. The black interior on white exterior really looks good. Also saw a Savile Silver on Black interior that was gorgeous as well.

While talking about the allocation process, my rep led me to believe that allocations are indeed based on dealer volume. He also claimed that his dealership (Montreal South Shore) was the second (out of 6) in the province of Quebec in terms of volume of cars ordered and delivered, and that Quebec was the top province in Canada.

The test drive went as expected, the car is not as roomy as I thought, but definitely not a show stopper and certainly OK for a second car. Performance was as expected and comfort is quite good. If they can keep the price at a reasonable level, I think Genesis has a winner here.

Now, I just have to be patient and hope there won't be any more delays!

My guy (out west) showed me the dealership list, despite being 17th on the list, my build was behind others because I ordered the copper. The list switches from “Expected” to “Order sent to factory” to “VIN issued” to “Delivered”. I’m hoping for my VIN tomorrow, then the ETA should be more accurate.

I stopped looking at the wireless charger when I saw it was $5K US.

1) It was, when it was officially posted, identified as August delivery. April/May.
2) As of the beginning of June update.
Fingers crossed for some good news tomorrow. My guy said there is an in-house meeting at the beginning of each month and the head office sends an official file status update a few days later.

I did not ask, but I would say there were about 50 - 60 people above me from the list I saw on his computer.

If only Genesis Canada would provide one list for everyone to see , or all dealers share the same list and provide details of where their customer sits in the line ! Wouldn’t that be a great customer experience !

The Western rep was at the dealership when I messaged. He said he (the rep) would have the list updated in a day or two. They sure are dragging their feet, one would think they don’t want to sell anything.

For the Ioniq 5 Hyundai sends a monthly update by email with your rank and estimated month of manufacturing. With genesis the luxury division nothing what a strange decision.

I think if anything, it should go down with prime going up.
3.4% to 5.1% is already quite a hike.

So…. I got Bugger All with regards to information. All the update says is “Order With Factory”, the delivery is likely to be pushed to September, never should have let the wife pick the colour. I really hope this is not a sign of what is to come regarding Genesis’ “Premium Service“, it’s pretty $#i!

No a lot. There are several factors that put you ahead of some & behind others. Paint & interior colour, as well as model. Bit of a dog’s breakfast, the whole business.

Got the call today. Vehicle allocated and should have it this month.
Pre-ordered April 9th.
But I think I'm going to cancel.
The Ionic 6 looks gangsta and reminds me of my first car, the Infiniti J30 especially the tail lights.
Will test drive before I make up my mind but seems like quite a few compromises for the Canadian model which is exacerbated by the extremely high interest rates and lack of loyalty incentives!
