  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV70 - honest discussion

Very interesting analysis! Thank you for sharing! Great to know! Do you think we can assume the mechanical build quality is the same?
Yes, I believe so. Only time will tell but the reliability thus far of the brand since now it has had enough years for evaluation are pretty solid for the lower number in sales they have compared to other brands. Only time will really tell but from my initial inspections throughout the “inside” of the GV70, it looks very solid.

Test drove a 3.5 yesterday and I will say that it's a really great car. However dealership I went to though was... a sight for sore eyes. The vibe of the place reminded me of a daycare center and as I walked towards the floor model of the GV70, there was a section of just children's toys laid out right where the GV80 sat. Super confusing.

They had one person as their Genesis Experience Manager but he couldn't really answer any of my questions correctly. The 3.5 I drove (only had 2 in the lot and they were both 3.5) had leather seats with mesh inserts so I asked him if this was the lowest trim available for this powertrain to which he replied "no this is the Sports 3.5, there is one more trim below this". Also couldn't tell me what the features of the car were and just seemed uninterested in general.

I really really like this car but the dealership experience has really turned me into another direction even with the industry leading warranty.

That’s where I was at before ultimately buying at the stand-alone dealership.

I went to a dealer on Saturday, took quite a bit to find the Genesis expert. When I told him what I wanted - thanks mostly to this forum- he became defensive and almost argumentative. Like "snerpy", I am getting disillusioned with the Genesis experience. I have enough aggravation at home and work, I don't need it from a car dealer.

Almost forgot to mention the dealer add ons. Does anyone know what the Xzylion package includes? $2800 of complete nonsense.

What state?

That's when they use pure unobtanium in their muffler bearings. Also ask about upgraded package with the lifetime halogen refills on the turn signals and the proprietary nitrogen/oxygen blend they use to fill the tires.

Did not see those matte green color choices on gv70. Matte colors are compelling bit @1500$ a bit steep. I have to look into Cpo cars a bit more. Not doing details yet until car is totaled. That we have 3rd car makes no rush until winter. We in NC and even then it’s doable. I can order what we want or shop long.

This is a good video of the Brunswick green with matte finish. It says Cardiff Green in the video but that is definitely not the cardiff green which has a gloss finish. I do love the matte finishes on this car. The gray and burgundy would be my 2nd and 3rd choices. After that I like the blue and green gloss finishes. Red for me is too bold and I am not a big fan of black or white cars.

Two-spoke wheel on 2.5 is ugly, I think you will agree.
Leather seats with mesh or suede cheapen the seats, only quilted leather seats look luxurious.
No HUD on any of the models except the most expensive one? Come on man
Bad gas efficiencies, especially the 3.5.
Add price markup and no dedicated Genesis dealership?

I won't be buying this 1st edition. Will you?
I love the unique looking wheels on the sport prestige. I like what I call the honeycomb look.

I like the look and feel of the seats personally but I do worry about long term durability.

No HUD on any model but top trim is very disappointing. I've fallen in love with it on my G70 and I don't see myself every buying/leasing a car without it again. So for me its the top trim or nothing.

I could care less about gas efficiency. I drive about 6K miles per year and that adds up to a fill up every 3 weeks or so on my G70. I also don't want to own a hybrid or electric car until gas cars are no longer an option. I will miss the sound of a gas powered engine when the time comes.

Price markup sucks across the board. If I don't get a GV70 in the next year or two this will be the biggest reason. I've had nothing but VIP treatment at the Hyundai/Genesis dealer I go to. It would be nice to have a dedicated dealership I suppose. But I also like being treated better then most of the customers walking in to buy a Hyundai.

Why does Hyundai dilute Genesis with Hyundai. Wheel from my Sonata base rental then GV7020210830_070840.webpScreenshot_20210831-130539_Chrome.webp

I had to take my GV70 in today as the "warning eLSD service" light came on again. I was hoping this was a glitch after the first time but it came back on and this time the small red service indicator came on and stayed on. I was close to the Hyundai/Genesis dealer where I got it so I figured I better have it looked at.

First of all with all the fear and trepidation about no stand alone dealerships and possible less than white glove treatment I was a bit nervous as I pulled into the service bay. There were a few cars in there ( one a GV80) but there was a service advisor/tech on the scene in seconds. They also have a dedicated Genesis advisor there and she was on it so quick my head spun. I told them the issue but of course I had turned off the car so that cleared some of the ability to read the diagnostic code. Nonetheless they had that car back for a look see immediately. It did throw a code that indicated it could be a wiring issue but there was no way so see more until the unlikely event it happens again when I'm close, so the fix is a wait and see if there is one. Hoping for the best on that. Tech said could be low fluid in the diff from the factory fill but most likely a wire/sensor. Car runs fine.

The point of the post is that I was more than satisfied by the way the whole thing was handled and I'm sure it would not have been the same treatment if I pulled in with a Santa Fe. They were literally all over it. Even my excellent salesman saw me there and came to see what was up. Point being that even though they don't have a stand alone building, ( and yes the chip shortage and covid building costs will delay that), they made me feel like I was a special customer and in this day and age that means a lot.

Thank you for taking the time to post your story. So much is reported about poor service it's refreshing to hear about a positive experience. Enjoy your new ride and bachelor hood! (Recently joined the fraternity!)

I found the best app to use is Car Scanner Pro... it has a specific Genesis test module and thoroughly scans every module of the car for codes/errors. (50 specific engine/transmission module checks performed)

Will allow to quickly ID the codes anytime / anywhere it happens.

Hi - Which Phoenix area dealership did you use?

Hi all. I thought I would ask here before starting my open thread to ask a somewhat silly question. I've been searching for a new car for over year now. I currently own a Ford Explorer and it is great for carrying people and cargo, but it's no fun to drive. My wife has a Audi S4 which I love to drive and zip around in, but I need a little more space. I've considered everything from an Audi SQ5, Audi A7, Ford Explorer ST and Lincoln Aviator (going more luxury instead of fun to drive).

I have seen a few GV70's on the road but I have been able to find one on a car lot within 200 miles of me, they all sell before I can get to the dealership. Because I cannot find a GV70 on a lot, I have been unable to see/feel the rear cargo space. I know all the specs for the cargo space, but specs are one thing and how the space can be used is another. Ultimately all I care about is how a set of golf clubs fit in the cargo space. I know, it's silly. But 7 months out of the year my golf clubs are a permeant fixture in my trunk/cargo space and it's important to me the gear fits. My Ford Explorer purchase was made because the golf clubs could fit in the cargo space of the Ford Explorer length-wise or width.

I am well aware the GV70 has far less cargo space than the Explorer, but I was curious if any GV70 owner who is also a golf could chime in with their thoughts and possibly even share a pic of a set of clubs in the cargo space. I'm hopeful the GV70 has enough cargo space for the clubs and can provide a little more fun while driving than a full sized SUV.

Thanks in advance!

Great little vid thanks for posting it. I actually saved it to look at again. I got this color and so far so good…did you pull the trigger yet?

I bought a house instead. Or should I say I'm buying a house. I'll reassess after it's done. My G70 has very few miles on it so I can wait. Probably wait for the car market to get better.
