i just called hankook and they said i have to go to the dealer and that I can replace with any tire of my choice but would have to pay the difference if the tire cost more.

Does anybody have an experience with the new recall and picking my own tires. seems like some people think the michelin's are worse.
When I called Hankook customer support they cross referenced the DOT tire number to the recall and that's how they determined if it is covered, it being an OE or retail didn't seem to matter. So it seems that it depends who you want to fulfill the recall, Hyundai or Hankook, that will determine how the replacements are done.
I then asked if my local tire shop could do the work and they went down a list and confirmed that they were authorized to do the work. I'll need to call them back to verify the process and reimbursement amounts but the big thing that I'm wondering about now is how long I should wait to do the replacements. The Hankooks are good tires (other than the 5 mile flat spot issue) and I'd kinda like to ride em like I stole em before I turn them in.

Looking at picking up a v8 genesis this week, the one I am looking at was manufactured in aug of 2014, and still has the hankooks on it. Should i make them swap out before i take delivery? or should I drive for free with the ones on it?
Has anyone received a recall letter from Hyundai yet?

Now that this is no longer a Hyundai campaign and has become a full blown recall from the manufacturer, I would think Hankook would need to replace with whatever they allow through an independent dealer.
I'm not so sure. The tires on our car are OE tires and Hyundai likely will handle that replacement as detailed. We didn't pay retail for the tires unlike a non-OE consumer. I also am interested in having an option for tires, but believe the Hyundai plan will supercede an plan for those who bought those tires retail
