  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yep, I bet the shop took the inside door panel off and now something is disconnected.

That's exactly why there are a few things I'd like to do to my car that I have decided not to do. On modern cars the complexity of everything, as well as the expense of things like the computers that are scattered throughout the car, makes the possibility of causing a frustrating, time consuming, and expensive problem just not worth it. Leave your high tech car alone, and if you just have to mess with a car, buy a pre-computer age one to play with. Much more you can do, and much less potential disaster doing it.

Head unit, CD player and selector knob replaced (System would reboot intermittently, and sometimes no sound). Front seat growls when it retracts (dealer replaced track with no luck). Vehicle has an anoying acceleration pause during certain situations (this and the seat track have been reported to Hyundai Customer Care. We'll see where it goes from there).

I have had numerous problems with the brakes. On at lease five occasions the brakes had to be mashed down to the floor and then pumped to come to a slow stop. It would be like there was no resistance (and I understand how antilock brakes work). In more than one occasion I was approaching a vehicle that was stopped in front of me. It is a frightening experience. My daughter also experienced it on two occasions.
I have taken it to the dealer every time and they are not able to replicate it. They have thrown their hands up not knowing what to do.
I am not a Genesis hater, I love this car. It has the smoothest ride. I just hate this feeling of helplessness in braking.
Has anyone else experienced a situation like this?
I have retained a Lemon Law attorney.

Hi Jackfax - try this thread. Sounds like your problem is the ABS Module mentioned in this long thread.

Engine was replaced @ 5k miles

Pinched wiring caused none of my interior lighting to work correctly @ 6k miles

Cylinder 5 exhaust valve spring had to be replaced @ 7k

And my rear sun shade is currently falling apart, though if I could somehow fit my hand between it and the window when it's extended I could fix the loose piece myself.

I've had the issues that are often written about here on the forum including (intermittent ((thankfully infrequent)) )"mute at startup" of the head unit, adjusting steering wheel stops moving, rough idle at startup, and engine hesitation that is just maddening and dangerous.

Fixes : big yellow fuse pull restores sound, moving the steering column through its range of motion restores movement (albeit temporally), my car was towed in and a bad injector was replaced to correct the rough idle, still living with the engine hesitation...it is said that the "Sprint Booster" will correct the hesitation but if I understand how the Sprint Booster functions then I'm already doing this manually by playing with the gas pedal while 3000 lb battering rams ,at posted speed, rapidly approach...that's scary and Hyundai really needs to help us with this one.

My windows freaked out one day, it would roll down and not up if it does its like 3mm then wait 5 seconds push the switch and another 5mm etc... I work in IT so after a shut down and restart it was fine lol.

My seat/mirror/steering wheel settings don't save. Hope this is under warranty(?) 2010 w/36800 miles.

Today while I was at an intersection, my parking sensors started beeping and the indicators went full red as if I was right about to drive into a wall. There was nothing in front of me or on the side or anywhere near me, as I was in the middle lane. I hesitated to go, wondering if there was a log or something, but I knew from visual line of sight there was nothing in the road. I slowly drove forward and of course didn't hit anything, then the alert lights went off and it went back to normal. Weird.

I wonder if the thick lines on the street were falsely reading as an obstacle. I'm going to drive in the same lane next time I go into the office, and see if it happens again.

Significant (overwhelming) gas smell on occasion-tank does not have to be full, and the smell is also inside the car. After the dealer could not find any issues, the service manager wrote the customer service number down on my copy of the service order and suggested I call Hyundai. Have been calling customer service after the dealer said there was no issue and they tell me it is the hot weather. If so why don't I hear the same complaint from other owners? Why haven't I had these issues with my other vehicles over the years? So far Hyundai does not seem interested in troubleshooting it. Makes me nauseous when I walk into the garage. My wife also complained about it so I know it is an issue because she never complains about anything.

Do you ever continue to fill the tank after the pump initially shuts off the flow of gas?

No as a matter of fact I documented that I do not fill the tank completely and always leave a little room. The other day I drove around town-it was about 108 and parked the car in the garage with 3/4 tank and a few hours later I went to the garage with this overwhelming smell. My wife could still smell the gas in the morning when she got into the car to go to work. Hyundai says I have to live with it and blame it on the hot weather but landtuna in Phoenix has never had the issue. I keep returning to the past 3-4 vehicles I've had over the years and never encountered this issue even if I topped the tank when refueling.

My 2009 3.8L had a problem with a slight surging at steady speeds, and when the engine was first started in the morning it would not maintain a steady idle speed so the tach bounced around a few hundred RPMs for the first few minutes. Replacing the throttle position sensor cured both problems, and also seemed to significantly reduce the hesitation when accelerating from an almost complete stop, although that problem seems to be coming back again. It feels like the transmission is in neutral and waits for you to step on the gas before it shifts into first with a jerk.

Two other long-time problems are the dome light sometimes flickers when it should be on steadily, and I have a very minor rattle in the front passenger headrest when no one is in that seat. I suspect a loose wire to the light, and raising or lowering the headrest very slightly, just enough to put tension on the posts, cures the rattle for a few minutes. I'll have to take it to the dealer sometime for both issues.

Yes- issues did not start until after 30,000 mile service. Noise under the hood and car keeps cutting off at low/idol speeds (under 30 mph). Took back and they replaced the compressor- seemed odd since a 2012. Picked up- same noise at low speeds. Took to another service place- they said it could be the fly wheel. They had to order part- has taken 10 days to get the part. If that does not work- they said it may be that I will need a new engine or transmission. We bought this car- brand new- should not need any of these!! UGGH! The car has been in a service department( between both) for a month now. Needless to say- I am regretting this purchase.

have they looked at the brake hoses? It probably wouldn't be a normal check for them, but if one or more of them are deteriorating, they will swell under braking and give you very poor braking.
