  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Head Unit Problems

Well certainly the bugs still exist in 13 model - as read this thread I was hoping to avoid these issues - we'll see if it continues to happen or if these were two isolated cases - I have my doubts as I think the electrical system has it's gremlins.

I posted in another thread getting windows like error message and dialogue boxes. After turning the car off and on again it would reboot and work.

Today I've got no volume from any source. Restarting car wouldn't fix it. Im thinking about that extended warranty now :(

Try pulling the yellow fuse under fuse cover on left side of dash where door closes for about a minute. Push fuse back in after you have disconnected any usb or ipod device.

Worked! Thanks.

Today my FM/HD would not play. Evrything else worked, I had to disconnect my battery for a few minutes to get it to work again. A little dissapointed with hyundai. This is my first Hyundai, 2013 R Spec 5.0 I thnk I will be going back to Ford after this.

First issue with the 2013 R-Spec- this has now happened twice - while driving and listening to the radio massive interference begins - assuming I've just driven through an area with poor reception I change radio channels - same interference - switch to XM - no luck - in fact every mode has the same interference except the ipod and jukebox. Even the Bluetooth audio has it. Thinking perhaps the phone is causing interference it's turned off - problem persists. Turn off car - still there. Only when the car has been left off and parked for an undetermined amount of time does the problem disappear. I guess I have no choice but to go to the dealer - but I'll have to wait until the problem is actually happening or they will be skeptical.

I have a different interference. I am getting bad interference on the AM radio. But here's the weird part - no interference when the car is off (running the radio off the accessories). But as soon as I start the car, the AM interference is there. Everything else (FM, iPod, XM) are very clear.

Thoughts anyone?

Does your car have tinted windows? If you have tint, perhaps you have a metallic film?

Does the AM interference vary with engine RPMs? Issues with the alternator cause an RPM-dependent "whine" on AM typically. Spark plug wire issues will cause an RPM-dependent buzz instead of a whine. Wiring issues at the fuel pump can lead to a whine or buzz. Got a hand-held AM radio? Wave it around the engine, rear trunk area, underneath the car, etc. to see if it can pick up the same noise.

If the interference doesn't vary with RPMs then try turning the car ON without actually starting the engine (push START twice without foot on the brake) or, with the engine running, put the transmission in NEUTRAL instead of park and hit the START button. Noise present or not? If it's still there it's some unshielded or un-grounded wiring issue somewhere. Posts from long ago mentioned radio noise when the rear defroster was turned ON.

Took my 2010 3.8 with 26,700 miles to the dealer today for diagnosis of frozen nav screen (H logo displays, but nothing works except radio). This has been an intermittent problem for a few months and has been described here a number of times. The dealer has ordered new head unit and will replace it under warranty.

Thanks for the help. I cannot tell much difference due to RPM's. I did do the Start button only (no engine start) and without the engine running it has almost no interference. But as soon as the engine starts, the interference starts.

Defroster is not on. No difference between Park & Neutral.
