  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How to get Apple Carplay/Android Auto in a 2015-2016 Genesis Sedan Ultimate (9.2" Screen) - KPLAY

Behind the dash right of the monitor as shown above.

I like it!
Seemed to be a fair bit of room back there...
A little tight but they fit, I replace both 12v cigarette lighter socket with these, a 3 port usb socket & a aux / usb socket 1674345229604.png
I use the one on the left for the audio / video outputs & usb of the Kplay unit and then use a 3.5 mm jumper cable to send the kplay audio to the car aux input, 1674345526277.png

I also added a cigarette socket and 3 port usb socket for the rear. 1674346054036.webp

Omg, loving these pictures, they’ll help so much when I’ll be starting with my installation

Another thing, I used the radio chassis ground for both kplay units as I found it to work better for engine noise reduction, which is minor. Using the standard ground seem to increase engine noise.
I bought the RF silencer that was on that K900 video, just to be safe - it was cheap. Got that 90 deg. gold aux. cable as well.

Just waiting on some halfway decent weather & temps now to install.

I also did not use the HDMI cable they send with the unit due to it being too bulky and firm for the limited space, I use a 1 ft short cable I purchased on ebay. 1674476578740.png

I tried 2 different ground loop noise isolator, but didnt like the audio quality degradation, so I went against that and found using the chassis ground a better option.

Guys if you have any pictures of how you have stashed everything inside, please upload, thanks in advance.

Once you remove the dash trim you will see, you will just need to prevent it from rattling, so I use plastic ties and insulation sponge to prevent that. Please remember not to cover the ventilation holes on the video interface. I did try to video my install but the quality was poor due to poor lighting.

Thanks! The instructions do leave a LOT to be desired! Pretty sure that the assembly will make itself fairly clear once everything is apart - Hopefully....
@skipgen have you taken the dive on installing yet? I agree it seems fairly straight forward, but I had a shop install mine earlier this month and whatever they did, reverse autodetect does not work. I do get other CAN functions such as the long press to switch screens and my seek buttons work to change tracks when using Carplay, so I suspect they left dip switch 4 on but they want me to get something solid before opening it back up and fixing a couple other nits from my punch list. Cheers!

Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to dive into it yet. Either my weekends have been taken up by other things or it's been rotten weather...!

Which seek button work for you, the ones on the radio or the ones on the steering ?

The ones on the steering wheel. I can change tracks back and forward. Mute doesn’t work to pause like it does in the factory system but I’m fine with that.

I got steering wheel media controls working in AA by sending audio through Bluetooth rather than AA. Fixed the ground loop noises and mute+pause works too. I have a CB in the car and the stock aux port is poorly shielded :P

Cool - I assume that CarPlay would probably work in the same fashion. There's likely a few more "shortcuts" - too bad the included documentation is so bad...

Did you have to do anything special to make this work, what media player do you use ?. I tried use the Kplay button learning feature but it did not work.
