How to get Apple Carplay/Android Auto in a 2015-2016 Genesis Sedan Ultimate (9.2" Screen) - KPLAY

@Suburbazine, how did you get the Waze day / night map mode working ?
Kicking it from auto to night mode in map mode settings. Got to cycle the buttons no matter how set- this is an actual Waze bug but they don't care to fix it

For those of you that have this installed - Have you run into any problems w/ your main (stock) display? When on stock interface, I'm starting to get on screen display glitches & image dropouts. When I switch over to CarPlay, the screen looks normal with no issues/artifacts....

Nope, no issues for me. Sounds like either your video interface or the wiring to it is defective.

I was thinking that it may be a loose connection - I have to go into it soon anyway to make sure the backup camera dip switch is in the correct position as I don't get the backup camera when CarPlay interface is active. I probably fat fingered it when I was stuffing everything back in the dash....

Other than that it works perfectly now. Will be upgrading the audio/aux cable as well to help address my sound issues. Wish there a way to simply stream my music through it without having to toggle the AUX setting in the stock interface.

Before I switched to Bluetooth I set the Mode button to be a one way to Aux button. Just unchecked all the other modes.

Did anyone notice that the latest AA wireless update does not use bluetooth for wireless AA connection but uses wifi to connect to the kplay unit?

Connection was loose - reinserted plugs and everything cleared up. Added more foam packing to insure that things don't shift around. Although, I'm surprised that the boxes were able to move enough to effect the connection in the first place....

Were you able to get reverse detect to start working as well?

Also curious if you've noticed poor microphone quality when taking a phone call using CarPlay. I have this issue in my car but also my wife's Volvo so I don't think it's related to the KPlay unit but rather some apple SW/HW issue. Sound works fine and the microphone can pick up my voice when using Siri but on a call my voice is barely heard as if the phone thinks I am the background noise and it's trying to isolate some other sound as the actual voice.

I need your help have a 2015 genesis ultimate, it has only rear camera and I order KPLAY2 and it all function working fine expect rear camera not switch when use carplay. DIP order off off on off on off on on off off

I have trouble with calls as well - 1/2 the time I have to switch my bluetooth over to Genesis to hear my call. Reverse cam is problematic as well - doesn't seem to switch no matter what my pins are set at.

Hey everyone, first time posting on this forum. I’m attempting to install the same Kplay unit similar to how you all have done. I got so far as getting everything connected (except the red and blue CAN wires). I am able to switch from my OEM screen using the knob controller however it switches to a completely black screen. I should note that I did not connect the ACC and B+ wires from the smaller box to anything. It’s not clear whether I need to do that or how the smaller module receives power. Any help would be really appreciated!

Look on previous page in this thread, dated around the middle of Feb. - I put together 2 pdfs w/ install notes. Boxes are totally powered by CANBUS, no power tap needed.

They made this MUCH harder than it needed to be.

I did go through the PDFs they made everything else MUCH easier thank you 😁. I am still just a bit confused, how is the smaller module receiving power from the canbus without connecting the red wire to anything? Only other connection I understand to be is the hdmi from kplay to video interface.

Thanks again for the help!

Could my tpms problems be related to the kplay unit blocking or interfering with the tpms module signal ?. I've been having an ongoing tpms problem. all sensors were replaced, now the dealer is getting ready to replace the tpms module. I noticed the tpms module is locate above the glove box in the vicinity of where I have the kplay 2 units, The problem is the tpms will work a few minutes then go back into fault display. obd scanner test show the sensors in the incorrect location, example RR sensor ID is showing it now at the FR and the tires were not rotated. I have made approx. 8 trips to the dealer service center for this problem in last 6 months and is wondering if this could be related to the kplay units as the tpms problem started around the same time as the kplay install ?.

Unlikely, as I recall there are individual antennas in the wheel wells to identify the tire signaling.

It's possible the TPMS module has died or has somehow sustained interference from the KPLAY, but I don't see any elevated 433mhz noise on SDR from my KPLAY kit.

Just got back from the dealer, the mechanic is telling me that the kplay units are the problem, because they are blocking the rf signal, I had him install the new tpms module and will relocate the kplay units at a later date and see if he is right.

Weird. I had a similar issue after I installed mine... Went away after a while though and has never returned. Could be a coincidence though.

I'm still having periodic "shimmering" when I'm in the stock interface (KPLAY is clear). That's only remedied (for a few weeks) by actually opening the dash and shifting the position of the boxes slightly. After many emails & videos to them showing the problem, they keep saying my OEM display is at fault even after showing them that it wasn't.... Kinds wish I hadn't spent the $ on it - but CarPlay looks so damn good on that screen!

Where did you finally put the kplay units ?.

They're still in the dash, close to the middle right vent register - I wedged some foam around them to keep them in place and not putting any stress on the harness.
