  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai Genesis Secrets from the Hyundai Service Department

Re: Secrets from the Hyundai Service Department

My car also stopped beeping a couple months ago when locking the door with the remote.

Check under the hood to see if the tamper switch button is missing. If that switch (or any other) is not tripped then the alarm-engage-confirmation beep will not sound. The other sign of this is that it will drain your battery slowly.

This fault drained the battery completely after sitting for a week at the airport.

I use the fob because I LOVE when I double-click the lock button, the side mirrors turn in. In my work parking lot, that is invaluable.

If only double-pressing the door handle button did the same thing.

Re: Secrets from the Hyundai Service Department

The reprogramming of the remote only works on the 2012 model year. The first 3 words of the tip states "2012 Genesis Sedan." Come on people!

Re: Secrets from the Hyundai Service Department

2012 V-6 w/premium and tech packages. The unlock feature worked for me.

The mirrors tilting down in reverse can be overridden by placing your mirror selector switch to the center position.

Wish the smart cruise can be disabled. It doesn't.

Re: Secrets from the Hyundai Service Department

Is there a way to default the smart cruise control to the shortest distance to the car ahead? I hate always having to click that button twice. I'd rather not have to click it at all.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to.

Thanks! The missing tamper switch button was the problem. Warranty fix. :D

Re: Secrets from the Hyundai Service Department

I understand that we are discussing how to program the the key fob but as with many, I tend not to ever take the key fob out of my pocket and since, on my 2009 Genesis 3.8 tech one push of the button on the driver"s side door unlocks only that door, two pushes unlocks all four doors. One push of the button on the passengers door opens all for doors. I'm virtually certain that the same is true with the button on the key fob on my car.

Programing the fob also programs the door button so that instead of having to hit door button twice you only have to push once key fob still in pocket

Re: Secrets from the Hyundai Service Department

Ditto. I have a Prem. & Tech with a March 09 production date. Doesn't work for me either.
Works for 2014 prem

Re: Secrets from the Hyundai Service Department

I have a 2010 V6. w/Nav. When I lock the car no lights or sound to indicate that it is locked. It does do this when I unlock.
Does anyone have an idea on this?

I tried the button holding down on the remote trick but it does not work on the 2010.
There is a button under the hood about half way up the drivers side. When the hood is closed, a rubber nub pushes the button in and should make the lights blink and beep sound. Find said button and press down with finger with hood up and see if it works. If it does , you can adjust the length of the nub by unscrewing it a little, or check that it is aligned with the button when the hood is closed. Hope this helps.

Re: Secrets from the Hyundai Service Department

All but the 2012 base V6 models have them.
Not true. I've got 2 of the 12 signatures and both plus my 11 fold mirrors in.

2012 Genesis sedan - If you want to unlock all 4 doors at the same time with the remote then all you need to do is hold the lock and unlock buttons down on the remote until the yellow parking lights flash 4 times. Then you can use your remote fob to lock and unlock all 4 doors. Repeat this step to return the fob to lock and unlock the drivers door only.
This just fixed a bunch of problems for me in one go. Hated having to double click to open all doors, hated the mirrors trying to fold/unfold when double clicking because both have stripped gears, and now I can open and close with one push AND the mirrors don't try to fold.
