If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a Black Genesis and I have added the Wings to the front and back and added the chrome strip at the bottom of each door. I have ordered the Wheel emblems although they are currently back ordered. The only remaining "H" anywhere is on the steering wheel...Anyone have any idea if you can replace the "H" in the middle of the steering wheel wheel is a Genesis emblem without replacing the entire steering wheel?

It doesn't look like an easy fabrication to me.. I'm guessing the steering wheel would need to be replaced...

Have seen nothing that would indicate this could be changed. It sits right on top of the air bag, so I doubt anyone would be real anxious to screw with it. :)

On your chrome strips for the door, did you do them yourself or take to dealer? If you did, can you offer comparison of what's involved vs. the wheel caps and wings? If you took it in, how much did they charge you for the install?

My dealer installed the chrome strips for free

It seems like like all you have to replace is the airbag flap for the steering wheel and we're good.

Hyundai Genesis Stainless Pillar Posts

In my meanderings through this forum I know I read about a couple of stainless pillar post installs. Instead of going through KAI ($79.95), I found them on an eBAY store called BilletAnything ($49.99). These are the easiest things to install...its sort of like putting pieces to a puzzle together. Mindlessly easy. The 3M sticky backing is awesome posts sort of guide themselves into place and the finished result is pretty amazing. I'm going to have to wash my car, because I'm afraid that the posts outshine the existing chrome on the car! I have a Platinum Metallic Genesis, and I think it looks great, but anyone with a darker color has to get this modification because it will definitely stand out.

Hmm, I'm telling myself I've tweaked this car all that I'm going to, but this is intriguing. If possible, please post some pictures.

I have seen listings on ebay for a replacement air bag module for the Genesis. you have to replace the entire module as the cover is a component of the module. The replacement module has the Korean badging. It costs about $300 and needs professional installation.

I just had the Genesis airbag emblem from ebay installed by me dealer. It cost $45 for dealer to install. Pics are in my album in Hyundai Genesis Pictures.:D

great news. I am all over that when the time comes. I just did a search, but did not see the cover. I'm sure it will come around again.

That looks absolutely terrific!! Did you source the replacement airbag on eBay for around $300 and then take to dealer? Was it a fairly quick install? And, do you get to keep the one they took out as a spare?

Thanks! I did get the airbag on ebay for $279 including shipping. Seller was AutoXclusive which I learned is a part of Korean Auto Imports. The install was a snap. I took it to my dealer who charged me $45, and it took 15-20 mins. Their system said it should take 1 hour, however, the service manager told there was a recall last year on Sonata airbags and they could change them out in half that time so he charged 1/2 hr labor, $45. The unit is really just a plug and play, they took out the whole center of the steering wheel that has the flying H and put in the KDM / wing airbag I brought with me. I did keep my Flying H airbag as a spare. It looks great having that wing emblem there every time I look down.

PS - I stopped at Costco on my way home today and as I was coming back out to my Genesis a man in Range Rover was looking at my car. When he realized it was my car he asked me "what kind of car is this?" I asked what kind do you think it is? He replied "the new Bentley?" He was very shocked when I told him it is Hyundai. I LOVE IT!!!

And THAT is why the Genesis Wing emblem is not in use here in the United States.

If you are so embarased and dont want anyone to know the car is Hyundai, why the hell would you buy it? If your so concerned about that take it back and go by yourself a Benz or a freaking, BMW so everyone will know thats what your driving!!!!

That is the beauty of the KDM emblems...they aren't recognized here in the US. It forces people to have to ask (although anyone that watches football on the weekend should know about the Genesis...saw every single Genesis commercial this past weekend). Personally, I like using the KDM emblems not because I'm embarassed by it being a Hyundai. Its just so much more fun to see people's reactions when they have to ask what kind of car it is. By replacing the flying H, people automatically think its something other than a Hyundai. Anyone that asks, I tell them proudly that its a Hyundai. And I also tell them that for $10-20K less than a handsomely equipped Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, BMW or Benz, they too can own this awesome piece of luxurious automotive engineering (they could save a lot more if they compared to a Bentley!).

I don't think there is anything wrong with challenging the public's first impressions of the vehicle, and not allowing them the opportunity to judge it simply by the symbol. The fact is this is a Hyundai, but it is not your typical Hyundai, for it represents a fundamental change of the company's philosophy. That being said, challenging the public's perception of the vehicle by changing the symbol allows the public to judge the car on it's merits alone, and not on what they believe a Hyundai is based on previous experiences.
