In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Recently purchased a 2015 Genesis and dealer re-badged rear deck from H to the Genesis wings. When I picked up the car, noticed that one side of the badge had a gap between badge and trunk surface (on left side). When car was back at dealer to do the window tint they were supposed to re-do the rear badge.

Today I learned the original rear badge they put on was for a 2013 Genesis which was designed with a flatter surface versus the 2015 which has a slight curve.

Now dealer advising Hyundai no longer making the rear badge for the 2015 Genesis account too many people are re-badging and they are loosing the Hyundai branding... Can anyone confirm that Hyundai is not making rear winged badges for the 2015 Genesis?

Dealer now purchasing one on eBay and going to re-do next week...

Looking to see if anyone else having this issue...Thanks!

I'll check around too.. Yikes.. If accurate, some tweener or other malcontent moron control freak, this time "in charge" of something like "the badge police" has to tinkle around our trees. Geez... These are likely gray market badges anyway.. Genuine, but not from USA Hyundai distribution

The wing badge is used in the domestic market on the rear. I don't think that it would be discontinued when used in Korea.

As Homeofstone said, there is confusion here about the wings. The rear wings were never imported by Hyundai Motor America since they are not OEM parts on the USA Genesis. They are OEM parts on the KDM (Korean Domestic Market) Genesis, and therefore can be obtained by Korean parts importers (on eBay, etc).

Hyundai Motor America wants to market the Genesis as a Hyundai, and is a little miffed that people (and dealers) are replacing all H badges on the car. Hyundai Motor America is trying the build the Hyundai brand awareness, and they want people to know that the Genesis is a Hyundai. They think that will cause more people to test drive a Sonata, Elantra, Santa Fe, etc, knowing that Hyundai makes such a quality car as Genesis.

Therefore, Hyundai Motor America has at times put pressure on dealers to not replace the H on the trunk lid, but you can get the KDM wings and do it yourself. There are thousands of posts on this forum (some with pics and/or videos) that show you how to do it.

^ This. At a time when branding is being called into the spotlight and the auto market getting "more competitive" (dont get me into economics and why the auto industry doesnt follow them) it is more important than ever to forge a brand awareness within a market for proper...um...penetration

It's not like they will take all the wings off and replace them with the flying H in Korea!! He might have meant that the US dealers will no longer be able to offer them. Get the correct one off Ebay or from a Korean vendor.

Side note when I was on the hunt for KDM only parts none of the part numbers would show up on the US Hyundai Parts System. If you can't find it on Jim Ellis Hyundai Car Parts it's most likely not offered by your dealer, they all use the same parts catalog. Might be too much info but all the Korean Import Part places couldn't find certain part numbers unless that part came on your vehicle from the factory. They look them up by using your VIN. So figuring out which KDM parts match each other is difficult.

Get the wing, it makes the car more classy in my opinion. The h stinks!

Correct. USA dealers get parts from Hyundai Motor America (HMA). This is same place where dealers get the cars from (USA dealers do not buy cars directly from Hyundai in Korea). HMA only imports parts that come as OEM on the USA version of Hyundai cars they sell. So they don't sell parts that are only on KDM versions. It's not rocket science.

Fortunately for us, some enterprising small businesses buy the KDM parts (like rear wings) in Korea (from Hyundai Korea dealers) and import them to the US, and sell them on eBay or their website. USA dealers who put the rear wings on the Genesis, get them the same place we do.

Funny, mine (now four days old) has the exact same issue, a gap on the left side. They are going to fix it when I have the rear bumper cover replaced (factory paint defect).

i would have been fine if all the emblems matched (the front hood, the wheels, the steering wheels and the rear deck). Having wings everywhere except the rear was a stupid idea.. Thats my main reason for replacing it, i want the emblems to match.

The 2009-2014 Genesis (North American versions) had the "H" everywhere (or in some cases like the front had no logo at all), and the KDM version had the wings everywhere.

Owners in North America replaced the H with the wings (purchased from Korean dealers parts department), and then some dealers started doing it, so in 2015 Hyundai "gave in" to some degree and only had one H on the trunk and wings everywhere else. But Hyundai Motor America still wants people to know that the Genesis is a Hyundai, hence the H on the trunk. If they ever create a separate Genesis brand in North America, then the H will be gone everywhere.

As far as I can tell, the dealerships in my area (they're all owned by the same person) have been installing the wing badges on all Geneses for years. I don't believe I've seen one in this area with the H.

Yes, but so what? There were no dealers doing that in late 2008 or early 2009, but as time went on, and people learned about the wings from this forum, dealers caught on that could they sell more Genesis cars with the wings, or in some cases they could charge more money for installing the wings. That is what business do (they find out what customers want and sell it to them).

But Hyundai Motor America has not been amused, as they are trying use the Genesis to improve the Hyundai brand image in the US, so they want people to know it is a Hyundai. But dealers are independent businesses, and there probably is not much HMA can do.

Too bad Hyundai isn't smart enough to do this. Create a badge with the wings that in small letters beneath says "by Hyundai" or "Hyundai". That should make just about everybody happy...

My dealer charges $199 for part and labor, holy freaking rip. Luckily I had the part added to deal free of charge and I took care of the "labor", all of 5 min.

After replacing mine with an OEM part off eBay, I took the car in for service. The dealer told me that all the emblems they replace are ones they purchase off eBay, because they cannot order them from Hyundai. Sounds like the USA market is locked down, driving all the business to the KDM market. Or the dealer has no clue. I know they knew less about replacing the H with the wings than I did. And all I knew came from YouTube videos

Apparently you have not read all the posts in this thread that explain it.

Hyundai Motor America only stocks OEM parts that are included on the USA version of the Genesis (duh). The wings on the 2009-2014 Genesis, and the rear wing on the 2015 Genesis were only OEM on the KDM version of the Genesis, so they have to be purchased from a Hyundai dealers in Korea. This is not rocket science folks.

I have read the posts. I recounted my experience. Jeez, you need to get more fibre in your diet. My point was that the dealer was doing the same thing that lots of people on the forum are doing which is getting the parts via eBay. More than one person had voiced a concern about the eBay parts. And guess what? The YouTube videos I found were from posts on this forum (not this thread).

Sorry, I thought the point here was to share info and help each other out. You don't have to be a condescending ass.

Yes, I mentioned that over 15 times on this forum, including previously in this thread. If US Hyundai dealers can't get them from Hyundai Motor America, where else do you think they can get them? They get them from importers who buy them from Korean Hyundai dealers and sell on eBay or their own website. This is not rocket science.

That's what I said, THIS FORUM. I said that 2 posts back. Did you read it?

Not only have multiple videos been posted by members of this forum, they have been posted repeatedly over a 6+ year timeframe.

Sorry that you think I am an ass for pointing out that you are just repeating what I posted previously in this thread (not to mention the thousands of other posts by other members over the last 6+ years on this very subject).

¯\(°_o)/¯

I was just pointing out that even dealers are getting badges off eBay. I thought that would:

1) calm fears voiced by some that they were not getting real badges

2) amuse others

The eBay reference to dealer acquisition of parts has not been posted before that I could find.

I did not expect to be flamed.
