  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm at a loss...

I can turn a few wrenches here and there but don't know shit when it comes to breaking an engine down that much. If I was closer, I'd lend a hand even if it was just handing you the tools you needed.

Best of luck to you man, keep your head up!

Looking good! You got lots accomplished already!

... Maybe those lap 3 down pipes will find their way on after all... :)

This will be a timeless and legendary thread. Drama, suspense, and thrilling turns of events. A good guy, a bad guy, and an impossible situation without an obvious or easy solution.

Can it be done? Will the hero prevail? Stay tuned. I predict victory in the end.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Have not installed the intake. Lal aftermarket plans are on hold for the time being until I can get this squared away! Have you gotten your AEM intake yet?

I canceled it and ordered K&N panels. Then ordered ARK springs. Didn't like the fact that you have to cut the OE hose for fitment of the aem.

I decided I'm just going to sell the downpipes. The passenger's side turbo downpipe was hard enough to get to, I don't even want to think about messing with the driver's side turbo/dp. It's not worth the risk for me.

Excellent idea of photos along the way to work back from as you replace parts. I hope and assume you have more photos than these. You mentioned covering the radiator and so I am sure you are covering the intakes also to prevent random debris from entering after photo is taken. That is a lot of progress for one session. 350$ labor right there.

Hyundai Dealer Solutions does have a variety of lifts and supports. They do have a 2500 power train lift for $4300. A powered one is $5400. Of course, a well equipped dealer would have that stuff and not charge it to the customer.
that we do, lifts ,engine hoist , trans host yes, but special table to remove engine, nope!

Had a little bit of time today to modify my hex wrench. I cut off maybe 1cm? Used the trusty old Dremel.

Ready to make the cut...

Worked very nicely, tried to finish the end a little bit so it wasn't super sharp....

It fits!! On top of this, I marked the bolts with a white paint pen since I won't be able to use a torque wrench on them when it comes to reassembly.

Hoping to remove the coolant lines from the turbo tomorrow morning after work.

This deserves a MUCH larger audience.
Todd has a thread going at stingerforum.org titled "turbo flange studs" and there are people there with experience with his situation offering experience proven ideas. Stinger folk seem to be more adventurous with their wheels.

i think you done this before ...... lol jk good job we are all rooting for you!

wow! wow.. have not checked into the forums for awhile. This thread a doozy! I'm pulling for you! I'm good for maybe slapping a lip spoiler on a car but what you are undertaking I can't even imagine! You can do it!

Looking good Toddasaurus! Nice work, hopefully that turbo will be out soon.
They should sell Allen wrenches with really short ends like that. I've had to do exactly the same thing to two of mine while servicing my BMW.
Good luck in your final steps to removal. 👏

They do. You can also get 100 degree ends. ball ends and much more. I got them from an industrial supply house. Band is (something) Swiss Tools.

Good to know, maybe I'll buy some. I do have sets of the ball ends, although I try to avoid using them unless absolutely necessary due to the minimal contact area.
