If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hey guys,
Sorry if this topic was discussed already, but i couldn't find any thread on it with my search.
I used to have a Lexus LS 460, and one of the luxury futures i really liked was the rear side window shades. It provided protection from hot sun rays and it provided nice privacy, plus your total control over when you want to rise it or make it retract.

I'm wondering if it's possible to install this future on a 2012 Genesis, and if i can ask Hyundai dealer to try and install it for me (they have the Equus shades don't they? @@).
And if they don't, maybe i can buy them myself and find a workshop that can do it for me.
Thanks

I think that the Genesis was offered in some markets with a rear interior scheme similar to the Equus Ultimate. Maybe it also had these rear side power sunshades. If not this sounds like a pretty pricey proposition to me. I believe it would entail a complete re-engineering of the doors. By the time it is finished and paid for you might be better served to just buy an Equus. Since nothing like it is now on the market, the development cost so that it would appear factory installed could run into the thousands and that on top of making something not designed for the Genesis work acceptably and get everything back together so it didn't look butchered. It might be better to just tint the rear glass or buy some of those roller shade and suction cup window tint shades would be far cheaper and could be moved from car to car.

I agree with msitter and don't think it's possible.

If they don't have them on any model Genesis, who would manufacture them? I suspect the Equus window shades may not be the correct size.

There has to be a seperate slot for the shade to recess into, and I doubt a Genny has the space. And even though one button operates the window and sunshade, that would all have to be reconfigured including the button on the driver door, as it can operate the window shades, too.

I think the cost and the possibility of an unattractive outcome would deter me.

Get an Equus!

Or just a get a high quality tint job for sun protection and privacy. "High quality" means a ceraminc tint film such as Formula One Pinnacle. Check your state tint laws for maximum VLT for each window (you can google this).
