If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

iPhone Caller ID Stopped Working

I did a quadruple change this weekend. I upgraded to iOS 8, I upgraded to an iPhone 6 (from a 5), I changed carriers from AT&T to T-Mobile, and I setup my new iPhone 6 as a new device (I did not restore from my iPhone 5 backup).

Yesterday I discovered that my 2012 Genesis Tech does not display the caller name with incoming calls. This worked perfectly with my iPhone 5 and iOS 7. There are several threads on our forum already on this topic (see below), but none of those get to a point of a solution or understanding. So, I am starting a new consolidated thread that I hope will get to a fix.

I am noticing that incoming calls are formatted x-xxx-xxx-xxxx, and that is how the calls look in my call history. Outgoing calls work perfectly, and they display the caller name. Unfortunately, I cannot see how the calls came in prior to all my changes, so I do not know if that is the cause.

Since I did a new iPhone setup, the problem could be a setting somewhere that I made previously but cannot remember. It could also be something different with iOS 8 or with the way T-Mobile is sending caller ID to and through the phone.

1: Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it?

2: Those with an iPhone, both working and not working, can you post your setup (Phone version, iOS version, and carrier)? I want to see if there is a common relationship between one of the three differentiating variables and the caller ID problem.

For reference, these are the other two threads I found where this was discussed previously.

Works Perfectly: iPhone 5; iOS 7; AT&T

Genesis Caller ID Does Not Work: iPhone 6; iOS 8; T-Mobile

Same issue here. New set up on iPhone 6. Caller id comes up with the odd format. What's even stranger is two fold:

1-when I pair the phone, it automatically calls my wife. No joke. The call never connects. I have to turn Bluetooth off to get the music to come back on

2- when it is paired and my wife does call me, the caller id is my own cell number in that weird format as described above but I can't answer the call.

I have deleted all the previous pairings in the system, my phone book was deleted and any record of outgoing, missed and received calls. Also reset to factory settings - that didn't really seem to do much anyway.

I really hope the issue is with ios8 and not complete compatibility issue with system in the car.

Hope somebody has a solution.

To follow up, looks like a ton of people are having issues with ios8 and bluetooth connectivity. I guess Hyundai, Lexus and Toyota among others. Sounds like ios8.1 is with beta testers currently that should fix the issue. I certainly hope so.

Yep... My dad had trouble with BT on his car already (not a Genesis). A ground-up rebuild of the phone solved it, but Apple had already sent a replacement handset before they figured out the problem is likely iOS 8.

What carrier do you have? AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, other?

I have T-Mobile, but I may try a test with an AT&T SIM to see if the issue is tied to the carrier or my handset.

I also have had this problem. It started when I went from iPhone 5 to 6.. I am with AT&T. I have tried many of the things that have been mentioned here... This is driving me nuts.. Please someone find a fix..

The problem is in the Genesis. It incorrectly handles phone numbers formatted with country codes.

What IOS are you running on your phone? Once I upgraded to IOS 8.1 (think that one) it solved the issue

My connectivity issue was resolved once I upgraded the IOS to 8.1 or 8.1.1. It does however still try and display a 1 with the area code and the number which looks rather odd on the caller id. I can live with that

I am running 8.3
What problem do you have? This thread started about incorrectly formatted numbers and non-functioning caller ID. However, it got a minor unrelated branch in the thread about Bluetooth connectivity.

The caller ID problem is a defect in the Genesis. There are other threads about connectivity that might help you with some answers already posted.

Since I switched to a new phone, about two weeks ago, caller ID is not recognizing names on my Genesis Coupe. Before I switched it worked perfectly fine. I would tend to think the problem is more with the phone in the car. But then again, I have no clue. Would love to find the real answer.

So, you stayed with AT&T and moved from the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 6? And your problems began with the iPhone 6?

Out of curiosity, do you remember what iOS you were running on the iPhone 5 before the switch?

I went from an iPhone 5 with iOS 7 on AT&T to an iPhone 6 with iOS 8 on T-Mobile. I am wondering if the problem was introduced with either iOS 8 or just the iPhone 6 in general.

Same for me.. I was running IOS 7 on my iPhone 5 and 8 on my iPhone 6.

I'm having the same problem with the IPhone IOS 9.2. Does anyone know of a fix. I have my car at the dealers and they cannot get it to work.

After searching all over and taking my car to the Hyundia dealer with no solution found. I finally came up with a temp work around for the Apple 7 plus running the latest IOS 11.0.3..
Go into your IPhone settings -Cellular-Cellular Data Options- select Enable LTE Data only and not Voice and Data. Then make sure all of your contact list in your Iphone do not have the 1 by the areacode and number.
It should only be XXX-XXX-XXXX. reboot your phone for the cellular change and unpair your phone and delete your contact list in your car.
Pair your phone up again in your car and download you current phone directory. You should then get both the Caller ID number and name.
By changing the LTE to Data only you will fix the CLID number only. You will not get your name along with the number unless you take out the 1 in front of the area code and number. Goog luck!

Very interesting.
Why is this just a “temp” workaround ?
What are the downside of not using LTE for voice?
What happens if you remove the 1 in the stored numbers but don’t turn off LTE Voice and Data?

Just trying to understand what is happening here.
