  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My wife didn't like the 2010 BMW 535i I bought for her so I took her to view a Genesis sedan and she fell in live with it. And I agree with her, it's a better car. The only complaint I have is the steering lacks the precision of the BMW. Otherwise, the Genesis is better looking, more comfortable, has a better paint job and has more power on regular gas than the Beemer on premium. So we pick it up on Wednesday, S460 coupe with technology package.:D

Congratulation...you'll be really happy with your Genesis

I hope you don't lose too much money in trading in such a new car.
I agree the Genesis is a much larger car w/ more equipments per dollar, but once you have an aftermarket tune, that N54 engine is no joke.
Hope you enjoy the Genesis as much as you liked it initially.

Oh, and I'm sure you meant sedan, not S460 'coupe', right? :)

Dan

How cool is that!

A true testament...but whew...I hope your not upside down!

Either way, welcome to the family!

My boss just bought an 07 (i think) 535i with a manual tranny.

Im just trying to talk him into the stage 2 Dinan tune!!! HA!

Now that would be a fun car to drive!
Yeah, 400HP is pretty easy with just a tune on an N54.

Nice
I traded my Camery 1998 in for the My 2010 V6 W/Tech Titanium Grey in May of 2010. I was a three time Toyota owner with the previous being the Tacoma .My husband found the Genesis when it was first introduced in 09.
I can't remember being this excited about a car since my 69 Chevelle or 70 Camero in high school.

I owned the BMW outright, so I got some money back. ;)

As soon as you swap out the high pressure fuel pumps, a few dozen times.

Haha, yeah. The HPFP is the Achilles heel of that powertrain.
I think I heard they found a possible root cause for the premature failure of the HPFP.

Yes they found the possible root cause 77 times by my count. I'm thinking about getting the new 535i. N55 single turbo engine, rated 20/29 MPG, hopefully they will have sorted out the HPFP issues.

Curious as to what your wife didn't like about the BMW? I think it's attractive, but given the extreme price differential have no regrets about my choice.

Hard to get into and out of. Not great looking (fixed with 2011 model), leather quality not great, some glitches with the electrical system, crappy pop out of dash cup holder.

I agree that it looks better, the question is, does it look $9k better?

Wow, congrats!
You said you're 'thinking about getting one', and 12 hours later, you post a picture of a brand new bimmer in your garage? :D
Nice car! LOVE the new 5.
I gotta say, the new 5er looks more stylish compared to the simple, plain Genny.
Is it a 6MT? It better be!
How do you like it? How does it drive?
Mind giving us a short review?

Thanks,

Dan

I think TJPark meant that the new 5 series look so much better than the old 5 series, not the Genny.

Or is the new 5 $9k more than the old 5?

You mean does it look 30k better. The question is no. You cant always rationalize a car purchase. If that was the case we'd all be driving 4 cyl Accords and Prius.

The 2011 535i is about the same price as the 2010. My 2010 priced out a little over $61,000 when I bought it, so you have to ask, is it worth $20,000 more than the S460?
