  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Left Lane: 2009 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 [Review]

It says that you can't see the blue backlight in the buttons under the Navi display, (More like the little blue lights within the buttons) when the sunlight is shining on the buttons. This is true. I always had to hold my hand over the buttons, mostly the "A" with the circle around it, and the recycle button just to it's left, to see the blue light.

I built a small shade made from a piece of plastic venetian blind, and taped it across the top, and around the sides of the group of buttons. Now those buttons are mostly in the shade, and I can see if the blue light is lighted or not.

I don't get it...He says he did a burnout with the 4.6 he had!!!
How's that possible???
Did he remove a fuse?

I'm baffled:confused:

Hey, these tires cost a lot to replace. I don't want to do any burnouts.

Interesting story: A few years ago, I had a 2003 Mercury Marauder. Never did a burnout, although I knew that it could with little effort. After I traded the car, I happened to stop off at the dealer one day, and a salesman came up to me and asked, "Arent you the guy who traded the Marauder"? When I told him yes, he asked if I heard what happened to it. I was thinking that perhaps it blew a rod, or dropped the transmission, or something like that.
He said, "the lot boy took it out to get gas, and while out, he started to spin donuts in the road, lost control, and drove the car up a telephone pole guide cable". (I bet he did not work there very long after that <grin>)

I know I got the power. I don't need to do burnouts!

Kind of a lame review IMO.

And am I the only one who likes the grille?

"sport mode" did they drive the car? the best part of the article are the comments from the readers...a SHO be real the Genesis is superior to the SHO in terms of fit and finish.

Have you been in the new SHO? The interior looks damn nice to me. Plus you gotta love the massaging drivers seat and adaptive cruise control.

If I were in the market for a new car today I might have a hard time deciding between the Gen & SHO.

I have not seen the new SHO .I was basing my opinion on past Ford products, though nice cars they tend to not hold up very well over the long haul. My experience has been little things IE: cup holders, trim pieces, etc. Tend to become or broken or loose. Ford makes a good product, not sure if there long term QA is up to snuff. Though I agree that it does look real nice (just googled it) I still get the feel of alot of cheaper, plastic type materials.

Either way, all we know is that Hyundai needs to design a new grille when the Genesis comes up for a design refresh. Rolling down the street with something that looks like Star Trek’s Lt. Warf scares the hell out of us.

Talk about taking an opinion and turning it into hyperbole. I'm sure we ( and most people I've talked to ) aren't the only ones to like the front grill. Maybe it's just that I have the advantage of haveing a Titanium car, so the grill is crome and body color. I know some of those with other color cars question the gray coloring instead of their body color; but thats still not a knock on the shape.

The Genesis gets a big mention in LLN's CC review.

Unfortunately, the CC also reminds us of the Genesis sedan in the way it handles and rides. The ride is not smooth enough to be a true luxury sedan, and its handling isn’t quite good enough to make it a sport sedan. Like we said in the Genesis review, you can’t be a luxury sedan and a sport sedan at the same time.

Now the roads used by this Detroit-area reviewer aren’t exactly up to par. If the tarmac in your neck of the woods is of higher quality, then you might find the CC’s ride quite acceptable. During our test ,though, we found jolts from even moderate road imperfections made their way into the cabin.

On the sport side of things, it didn’t seem to take much road imperfection for the whole car to get a little unsteady through a corner when the speed increased. The steering doesn’t fair much better as it’s weighted too light. That’s great for low-speed maneuvering in parking lots, not so great on roads that curve. Toss is a dash of understeer and a modest helping of body roll and we’re left with a bad taste in our mouth.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't LLN have a pretty well-known pro-American bias?
