  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am trying to decided between a 2011 Genesis with the 4.6 V8 and tech package vs a 2012 with the v6 and tech package. Is there anything that should pull me towards one or the other.

2012 might be a better idea. It is the refreshed model compared to the 2011. Also the v6 got a power bump that year to 333 hp which is close to the 385 found in the 4.6 with the added fuel efficiency.

My cousin bought a 2012 V6 (Premium & Tech) at the same time I bought my R-spec. Both are great cars and to be honest there is only the slightest difference between them. My R-spec provides effortless performance and his better fuel economy (low 30's on the highway) but the difference in street driving is minimal and if I had to switch to the V6 it wouldn't disappoint me. The engine in his V6 is identical to that found in my 2011 Santa Fe and it is a performer.

check the ability to play Blue Tooth music.

2011 4.6 does not have this ability...

No tech package prior to 2013 will stream Bluetooth.

If it were me, I would probably choose the V6.

I love my V8, don't get me wrong, but I like the aesthetics more on the 2012 models.
So much that I want to swap my headlamps and tail lamps.

My 2012 V6 base package streams Bluetooth. Just looking at videos on Youtube and reading reviews, the 2012 V6 is very comparable if not completely even with the 2009-2011 V8 when it comes to acceleration from a standstill.

The bump in HP/torque along with the gearing of the 8-speed and 200+ lb advantage makes them very similar in performance. Throw in the improved (I think) aesthetics of the rear bumper/exhaust, headlights and lower stance "side skirts" and my biased vote goes for the 2012 V6.

Thanks everyone. There was a 2011 v8 for sale near by and I guess I was getting anxious. Ill follow my initial plan and wait for the genesis I want. Thanks everyone
