  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Loose Leather on Driver Seat

Well....

I went in "politely" asking why my new seat bottom looked worse than my original and was told "they all look like that"!

So I left without without argument with head hanging low dreaming of the new car that I will get next year. And it won't be a Hyundai.

I just sent Hyundai another letter of discontent (first letter was of an unrelated issue to this thread/ steering issues) as of this writing. I requested an entire new drivers seat and if the problem still persists during my ownership, I will keep requesting a new seat until they get it right. If not....

I can get access to a giant lemon and a sign shop which will make me magnetic signs in the shape of lemons that I can affix all over my car and display to the greater Seattle/Tacoma community and the WORLD what a quality luxury car looks like. :D

Oh yeah. And there is this cool website called YouTube. They show videos of cars! Have you guys seen it? A bit extreme??:

Enough is enough.

Are you reading this Hyundai corporate??

Did you show them photos from that ebay auction? I'd ask why a used/pulled seat from an auction has Genesis seats that look to be in exactly the condition everyone is desiring, it's almost as if they forgot to put backing/filler for cushion is the bottom sections of the seat.

I don't even own one yet, but having looked at plenty of low mileage '12s and 'brand new' '13's with less than 75 miles on them...the issue is widespread.

Hello krazyfiend,

Regretfully I did not. I already had it in my mind that I was going to get the smackdown that I got when I went in this morning so I opted not to push it further with my dealer to save on added aggrivation.

But you are correct in the assumption that the eBay seat looks as if it has had some stuffing added to it.

Strange isn't it?

See post #55. That is sooo irritating when the say that!

I like how the answer "they are all like that" absolves the dealer of any correction despite that fact. They all do that is not an acceptable response. It does not correct the issue or make the customer feel any better about their premiere(their term not mine) purchase of a Hyundai vehicle. The worst part is that not all of us get this treatment. It would be different if Hyundai was consistent in their rulings but they are not. There are dealerships that get it and those that don't. Half the folks on here have had Hyundai dealers acknowledge the problem and address it in outstanding fashion; the other half have been told to piss off in more polite terms.

What I don't get is how is there such a big disconnect when they are all calling the same "800 tech line"?!? I mean why must each dealer reinvent the wheel as it where? It would seem to me that if a Dealer calls the 800 Mr Wizard support line which is nothing more than a knowledge base for the Genesis they should/would all get the same answer for successfully solving or correcting the customers issue. That most evidently is not the case. I mean we all do it here on a much smaller scale; but it works quite well for us.

The worst part about this for me is that Hyundai is loosing customers not due to the Genesis build quality directly, but because of the poor CS supporting the Genesis and inconsistent responses from Service departments which should not be happening at all with a 5 year old knowledge base on a car that has not changed all that much in those 5 plus years.

To quote the late great Casey Kasem... "Ponderous! Efing Ponderous!!"

Beautifully written Vermillion.

BTW, just got an email back from HC. They were kind enough to ask me to go to another dealer for a second opinion. I gladly accepted.

I also forwaded this thread so that they may understand that this is not an isolated incident and that I'm not a rogue customer hell bent on looking to get revenge on the mighty Hyundai.

I just want my car fixed....CORRECTLY!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
For comparison sake:

Here is my old 2006 Infiniti M45 with 55,xxx miles:

Here is a 2006 M45 with 99,8xx miles: (I found online in a local Dealer listing)

Point being, is that mine and a lot of other members driver's seats look like this with a helluva' lot less miles. My Genesis seat looked way worse at a 1/20th of the miles than the 2nd M45 picture.

At 55 and 98 grand on the clock, those seats look acceptable to me and I would not balk at their performance.

I spent the best part of last night shopping for my next car. I know what I would like but the final choice will be up to my financial advisor. SHE, has to pick the color. :D

I can narrow it down for you. It won't be Korean!

Mt. Fuji?! :D

When I was shopping for used cars I noticed two types of leather; a very soft "buttery" leather in the Genesis and Cadillacs and a thick, harder leather in the BMW and Maxima. The soft leathers looked like the leather people are complaining about here; I wonder is this is the issue?

And I have a roll call question. To find out more data.

Roll call... Those with seat problems, do you have cooled seat? Does this make a difference in the reports here?

Any poor leather performance on passenger and rear seats?

Mine has cooled seats. Which means they have to have a special way to get the air flowing from the bottom? Jamming padding in at a dealer would mess that up?

Cooled and Frumpy seat! Front and center! 2010 4.6 BLK

Same here. Only the driver seat is loose but it does get more use.
2011 4.6

2009 4.6 tech (cooled driver seat) with 41k miles. Just as tight as the day it was made... and I weigh 240 lbs.

Maybe it's just you skinny types that are stretching the leather with your bony asses!! :D :D :D

Well I guess that would explain why my girlfriend's seat looks pristine! :D

Ok... One more roll call...

The 2012 V6 base drivers seat squeaked. Now my new 5.0 with 2.7k miles has been squeaking for about 1k miles. Same sound comes from springs when moving down the road and/or moving in the seat slightly.

Anyone else have the same thin happen?
