  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I bought a Magnaflow system for my 2011 4.6. It droned at low rpm - big time!
I knew about drone before I installed it, so I changed the "X" pipe to a Magnaflow "X" muffler; and the drone still persisted.

Finally, I took off the rear Magnaflow mufflers and installed Dynomax VT mufflers; and the drone was gone.

I note that the picture of the Magnaflow 5.0 system shows the addition of two glass-pack-type mufflers aft of the "X" pipe, and there is no indication if the rear muffler design has been changed.

I hope the first purchaser of the new Magnaflow will report his findings respecting drone. Thanks.

Wonder if MagnaFlow sells their car-specific parts seperatly?? I'd buy the X-Pipe and the 2nd piece (x2) from the Cat back for the 4.6, but use different mufflers.

I've sent MagnaFlow an email....just awaiting a response.

So it would appear that you keep your stock tips with this setup - judging by the pictures, anyway... Everybody else agree? May have to order one of these puppies...

can anyone confirm that this set up actually increases HP or makes the car accelerate any faster? I don't want to just make the car louder. Also afraid of dreaded droning

Jalan - it's a brand new system so doubtful anyone can confirm anything yet. I may get my rspec dynoed before and after to compare... More to follow on that.

So I have called around and only one shop was able to provide a price - $972.08 + tax from performance.ourdealsrock.net/

I am going to call all of the other partners on Magnaflow's website to see if I can get a better price. Definitely going to order this bad boy today.

excellent! please report here if it has the dreaded magnaflow drone. I noticed that this kit has two resonator thingies after the x-pipe unlike the early kits for the 4.6. so they may have engineered out the drone.

Oh I hope so. :crossesfingers:

Oh and thanks StangKiller for posting the price.

It shipped in that box - it was a lot bigger than I expected...

Do you have the capabilities to dyno the car before and after the install? Also please do a through check for drone before adn after the install. I'm talking everything noise wise turned of and paying particular attention to when the car is at cruise on high gear and low RPM.

I ask the questions for the following reasons. I had a Pontiac G8 V6 and was asked by Magna Flow to borrow the car to buld a system for the car. I was their guina pig and so I had the prototype system for about a year before I changed back to the stock system due to drone.

I was told by the guys I was working with that they did a dyno run on the car before and after the install but I never got the dyno sheets. They have their own in house dyno, I've seen it, as well as a chamber for checking sound.

The main issue I had with the exhaust was that when in top gear at about 50 MPH and 1500 RPM's, when you lightly applied the gas, say to speed up just a bit or to maintain speed going up a hill, the drone became unbearable. You could not hold a conversation inside the car. I had to manually drop the car to 4th gear just to be able to hear my passengers. After I removed the system and went back to stock, I noticed that there was a very weak drone at the same spot, It was just that you didn't notice it until after installing the Magna Flow exhaust did it become noticable.

Magna Flow never did find a fix for the system and subsequently did not produce the system. I'm just giving you some heads up of my past experience with their systems. They do build great systems and I have no issues with them. But they can't check everything and all driving conditions so be aware of that when you start driving if you hear a drone.

Yea - I have had many exhaust systems in many cars ranging from muscle cars to sports sedans. There will always be drone - but I've found that in most production cat-back systems be it from Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Borla etc. they usually do their best to minimize it.

That being said - I don't think I'm nearly as picky as most customers. To put it simply, drone has never bothered me in the past - at least not enough to rip out the system and replace it with another or go back to stock.

I will not be getting it dynoed - don't really care if I gain another 15hp or not - I just want to hear my v8 a little more.

I will give a comprehensive review - hopefully on Saturday that will include several videos. I will let you know about the drone and what RPM range it is most prevalent in.

More to follow!
