  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

To resolve it, I would get Microsoft Word and make sure grammar and spell checking are turned on.

Thank you Mark I am a french speaking so if you have nothing else to say ......

Try disconnecting the battery....if the problem still persists, take it to the dealer

This is a known issue on all Premium Package w/Touchscreen Nav Genesis Sedans since 2010. No credible, confirmed resolution has been posted to date that I am aware of.

Search this site (search my name to find my posts about it).

Take it to the dealer, I had a similar issue happening once in a while. Would get stuck on the Genesis logo and if I tried pressing the phone menu, it would say 'initializing bluetooth' and nothing would happen. I tried the approach of unlocking my car from far away, to let the system boot up before turning the car on. Seemed to help, but even then, when taking off from my garage I would forget since I don't lock my car at home, and the system would get stuck.

Of course, this would never occur when at the dealership. I recorded it getting stuck on my phone just in case they asked for proof.

I took my car to the dealer, explained the issue, and supposedly there was a firmware update. I did this at the same time I was getting a firmware update for the transmission lag problem. I asked the service manager and he said that they still have people coming back and reporting the same issue (even after this update), however, for me, it has not happened since.

Micbru, this is an intermittent problem that seems to be related to the Bluetooth connection at start-up. What I do is shut off the Bluetooth connection on my iphone 5 until after I am moving forward and I confirm that the nav screen is working normally.

It's pretty obvious that he is not an English as first language speaker. Isn't this a forum to help Genesis owners or are you an elementary school teacher admonishing a child? Don't be so tough on people...be nice...everyone likes nice in a public forum. If he can afford to buy a Genesis, he deserves to be a member and use the forum just like everyone else.

Well said:)

It's always helpful to others to post the name/description of the fix by the dealer when discussing such issues. It should be detailed on your service invoice. Thank you.

Here is what I posted in an older Navigation Problems thread:

"On my invoice, in addition to 10c161r1 2012 BH ECM S/W update, which i believe is for the transmission and some other things, there is a 20C026R1 BH &LM T.SCREEN NAVI SW REPRO"

The second one is the one that fixed the issue for me.

Wondering if anyone else has had this problem/issue with navigation DIS system-
For 2 days after starting the car, screen would say for long period of time, "navigation starting up please wait" for like 30 seconds. Then map will come on and map would work for 6 seconds then freeze ( no movement) then nab start up message would be displayed again. All DIS functions also would be extremely sluggish- taking 10-15 sec. Per command.
2 days- lengthy travel times. Even tried factory default.

Mysteriously today- normal.

I've only had my Genesis for three days, and on the second day the navi started to freeze. It froze twice on me. The second time, it happened i had to wait 15 minuets with the car off in order for it to restart.

The answer to this problem is very simple. There is nothing you can do to fix this problem. You need a new head unit for your radio/Nav. Hopefully, you have a CPO or other warranty for this used car. If you have no warranty coverage you are SOL.

Either way, if you want a new head unit you will have to show the problem to your dealer, or video it with a smartphone, or camera. Once they confirm the problem you will wait a week, or so, for delivery and then it's a quick install by the dealer.

Remember if your head unit is changed you may get a rebuilt head unit and not a new one. Some of the refurb units have old software on it. Make sure you ask the dealer to ensure you have the latest software/map updates when the head unit is changed.

The 2012s had awful electronics issues with the radios and NAVs if you read this forum. BTW I had three different head units on my 2012 Premium/Tech and all of the units sucked. Although the 2015s use the Lexicon radios, the head units are vastly different and don't seem to have the glitches the previous models had.

In my experience the 2012 voice recognition worked better but the 2015 electronics are vastly more reliable.

Thanks guys.

I've had the Genny for 2 weeks now. It's finally back at the dealership so they can address the navi problem. They said it would've cost 5,000 or so... don't think i should come out of pocket for something that was broke upon purchase. 150 point inspection should included an extended drive so they can see these things. The car also needed

I don't have 5k and i don't expect to come out of pocket for a car I just drove off of the lot.
