  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Nav, screen, freeze, on logo Genesis

I since few weeks on my genesis sedan premium 3.8 2012, my nav screen display freeze few times on the logo GENESIS when I start my vehicule , the results is that I have no display of the back up caméra, no bluetooth for my cell, no view the radio chanel and no GPS.

there is any body have the same problem and how the resulve it ?

I'm having the same issue in my 3.8 2012 Genesis sedan. Haven't found much in the way of "fix it". Looking for a cost effective way to handle. Help????

I have a 2010 Genesis and this has been happening on and off for the entire 7 years I have owned the vehicle. Is there an actual update for the system to correct this issue?
I honestly believe it has to do with the Bluetooth phone because I notice that if I don’t have my iPhone Bluetooth on then the system doesn’t seem to have as bad of an issue. But if my iPhone Bluetooth is on and I get into my car, then the Genesis Logo is stuck on and the system screen won’t come up.
Does anyone know of what to do?
I am planning on taking my car in this weekend for a transmission system check. Any insight on the navigation Genesis screen freeze would be great.

To resolve it, I would get Microsoft Word and make sure grammar and spell checking are turned on.
You don't know this person's background at all. Might be ESL?

Fix for frozen nav / navigation unit

My 2012 Genesis sedan's nav has repeatedly frozen many times. Nothing has worked to un-freeze it (e.g. unplugging battery). Found fix below on another forum, it truly performs a nav system "reset" where nothing else actually does.

open drivers fuse fox and while the car is on ignition but not the engine running pull the fuses marked rf receiver and audio b+. One is a 10a the other is a 15a...it seems to have reset the screen unit. but it only works when the power is on the car

Did the dealer charge you?
The problem kept happening, no permanent fix. The dealer eventually replaced the nav unit ($5500) and charged my extended warranty company. I sold the car immediately following. Had $16K of repairs in under three years on the car, thank god I bought the extended warranty.

Problem kept occurring no matter what I did. It would usually fix itself after being dead for 1-3 weeks. Twice it magically started working again when I arrived at the Hyundai dealership and shut down the car for a few minutes.

I bought a third party extended warranty when I purchased the car used in 2017. Within 2.5 years I had over $16K of repairs. The dealer replaced the nav unit for about $5500, charged to the warranty company. I sold the car. Will never buy another Hyundai product, piece of !#$#@$.

Exactly why I've bought five Hyundai/Genesis cars and won't go near a GM car again. Fact is, every car maker has a few like that.

so you purchased a 5+ years old used vehicle that had issues? and it is Hyundai's fault?

I'm going to say it was likely the fault of a previous owner or owners, one of the reasons I won't buy used modern vehicle, people f$%k up cars, especially radio systems, then duct tape the stuff back together when they trade it in.

I have bought many used classics, but I go in knowing I am going to tear the car down and rebuild it. I won't ever buy a used car as my daily driver, I need reliability and a warranty, I don't want the out of pocket expense repairing something someone else f**ked up.

It had 38K miles on it when I bought it. Lost the tranny at 42K, lost numerous other expensive other parts prior to 68K miles when I sold it. Yes, I do consider that Hyundai's fault. $16K worth of repairs in 2.5 years on a car with less than 70K miles.

Some of it may have been, but you also have no idea how the previous owner drove the car. Did you get service records? A 17 year old driver can take out a transmission in a couple of months. Maybe that is why the original owner traded it. Who know?

sadly there is no way to know what the previous owner did, some might be Hyundai's fault, all manufacturers have lemons, but in my experience having owned over 100 cars in 38 years, new, used, lease returns, dealer demos, etc, the most problematic vehicles have always been used/former owner ones, the one exception being a 2012 Camaro 2SS/RS convertible that was lemon lawed over an issue with the convertible top, mechanically the car was sound.

I just updated my maps from version 3 to version 9. Significant difference in the software! Maps look sharper, interface has good updated changes, more modern and advance in many ways. Its been 2 days with out screen freezing. I will keep you posted and give any updates of freezing screen. If anyone still has the old map version 3 or 4 from when you originally bought your car, version 9 is a significant update that you will appreciate. Fyi. I have a 2012 genesis sedan premium with touch navi.
Did you have to take it to the dealer for the upgrade?

You are new here but you don’t say what vehicle you own, or what problem you have. That would be a good way to get assistance.
