I suppose this is a rant more than anything, but I'd just like to say that the rebate offered to those who already own a vehicle that competes with the Genesis is deterring me from purchasing it.
I purchased a Ford Fusion 4 years ago right after I graduated college as I couldn't afford a luxury vehicle at that point in time.
Since then I've tripled my salary and am in a position where I'd like to buy a nicer vehicle. I love the Genesis and am okay with the fact that it is a Hyundai. However, the fact that they will give somebody a $1,500 a rebate who is driving a Lexus but not me, may be enough of a reason to persuade me to buy a Lexus.
Basically Hyundai is telling me to go ahead and buy a Lexus tomorrow and then in 4 years they may deem me worthy of a rebate. Until then, don't bother.
I get what they were trying to do with this rebate, but it is very frustrating for me.
Add to that the fact that the dealership here advertised a price which included a $1,500 rebate for that and another $1,500 for people in the military...the price they wanted tonight was $3,000 higher than advertised.
I like the car but this seriously has me PO'ed.
Edit: The dealership is also trying to add $3k to the price for pinstripes, scratch guards on the doors and fenders, and ONE free oil change...what a joke.
