  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have been shopping for a 2016 Genesis sedan, and I spent the weekend test driving the 3.8 RWD, a 3.8 AWD, and a 2015 5.0. Driving them back-to-back, I really got a feel for the differences in handling/power, and I finally decided that the 5.0 V8 was the right fit for me.

I then asked when they would be getting the 2016 5.0 Ultimates. Of course, there are none in the US right now, and upon following up with HMA, the dealer was told that there will be no 5.0's in 2016. In fact, the dealer was told that Hyundai will be "focusing on eliminating as much Equus/Genesis inventory as possible" to prepare for the G90/G80 launch, and this meant no 5.0's in 2016.

Pretty incredible way to run a company, given that the press release annonucing the 2016 5.0 was just released less than three months ago. I have to say that I'm pretty disappointed - especially after researching and finally deciding on what I would like to own as my next car. :(

Now, I'm not sure what to do. Anyone else in the market for a '16 5.0 being told something similar?

Have you considered a 2015 V8? What about the one you test drove?

Just to reiterate what you were told, Hyundai Motor America initially put the 2016 Genesis on their website and removed the 2015. But just in the last week, they have reversed that, and put the 2015 back up and removed the 2016 (although if you know the link, you can still get to it).

Obviously, HMA got a lot pushback from dealers who did not want to order any 2016's until they cleared out more of their 2015 inventory.

I know it doesn't sound like a good way to run a company, but the dealers have to sell the cars they have already purchased from HMA. Obviously, sales are less than expected.

I did a brief search on cars.com out to a radius of 500 miles and you are right.

You want a V8 - there are lots available but only 2015 models.

As to the "Ultimate" model, I had no use for it - but almost bought one simply because I wanted a red car and they had that in red. I got a blue car and saved a few thousand.

Actually, Hyundaiusa.com has been updated back to list the 2016 Genesis on the main vehicles page for a few days now - not sure what they are doing? You can still pull up the 2015 when you choose the build and price option, though!

I just checked the Hyundaiusa.com website, and under vehicles, it shows only 2015 Genesis Sedan. However, by editing the link to the 2015 (replacing 2015 with 2016) the 2016 specs can be seen.

I wonder if you have a browser caching issue that still shows the 2016 on your computer.

As a Hyundai dealer, we are still receiving the 2015 5.0s, while we only have 1 or 2 2015 3.8s left.

We received an abundance of 2016 3.8s of all trim levels.

There are still a number of 2015 5.0s waiting at the port so the 2016 5.0 "ultimate" will be out soon enough.

Maybe a caching issue on my home desktop as my work laptop is bringing up the 2015 as you said. However, on my mobile devices (iPhone and Galaxy Tab), I'm seeing the 2016 Genesis - even after clearing the cache and browsing history. Odd...

As you say, I suspect the 2016 5.0's are just delayed (not cancelled) while they clear out the apparently still abundant V8's - but you never know, as with the G80 coming next year, they may not want excess inventory of a car this is not selling well. Several local dealer have told me over the last year that the V8's are just not moving.

I'm actually amazed at how many 2014's are still out there unsold at some dealers!

Strange to say the least that the 2015 Genesis has been out for almost 2 years now. We are now in 2016 and some 2016's have trickled in. Kinda reminds me of the 2014 Genesis which never made it to Canada and were far and few between in the States. All this happened just before the major Gen2 update. Makes one wonder if they have something up their sleeve for and early release 2017 or it just may be a name change to the new Genesis brand.

the 5.0 v8 doesnt sell well. that should be specific for the g900 equus.

as I have said, I think it would have been smarter if they did hybrid version instead of the 5.0.

I hit 3 dealers today. Not one has a 2016 5.0. One swore he did, but they were all 3.8s. There is a $2750 incentive toward 2015 v8 leases that is good til 1/5. Sometime tomorrow, they are supposed to announce the new incentives.

Now the tough question is, Empire Grey/Black, Silver/Black, or Silver/grey?

From those three: Empire/Black

In Tampa, I would go with Silver/Black and get a ceramic tint job. Those people up north have no idea what the sun does to a car in the South.
