  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

First Generation OFFICIAL TUNE FOR 1st Gen 5.0's

I want to make sure you all understand that the new ECU did bypass the immoblizer thus showing we are on tract. Also my car did not run that well on the dyno with even my stock ECU. The new ECU had much better (great) O2 ratio readings at all rpms. So again, as a breadboard, it shows promise.

I really hope you can save us all Roc, and work with David on getting it tuned. I have about 4k worth of stuff to twin turbo my car, and gonna be really sad if can't even freaking tune it.

Ya same here I am all set to get custom twin turbo setup but without a tune it's useless...however I think I am even one step further than you guys from the finish line as I have a Gen 2 5.0 :(

Guys, with this Being Soooo Freaking Hard, Expensive, and it Seems almost Impossible to Tune, HOW is it that there was a Supercharged 5.0 at SEMA for Several years???

Many SEMA cars do not actually run, or run very poorly.

One year ARK brought a "supercharged" 3.8 Genesis Coupe to SEMA, the hood remained shut the entire show and the car was pushed everywhere.

Rhys Millen Racing put the Tau V8 in a Genesis Coupe for SEMA. Had a custom bellhousing and bespoke clutch and pressure plate made to put a 6-speed manual behind it. However the ECU remained stock Genesis Sedan and kept hunting for a TCM signal, thus it stayed in limp mode.

Same deal with RMR's mid-engine Tau V8 Genesis Coupe, it's just a show piece, it's currently in the hands of a private owner who said it is undriveable.

Dave told me their company's efforts are the 4/6 cylinders(turbo) for the immediate future. Guess too hard to do the TAU. (See above) And with the twin turbo Genesis V6 coming out with it's potential, why bother. I see their point. I still think you guys that want stinging performance need to consider NOS and be done with it. Not much to do except install it. All rod shops can do it. Just get a large NOS tank and be happy blowing away BMW's, SS's, mustangs and Corvettes with only spending a few hundred bucks. The Gen is a sleeper anyway and if installed right, open hood shows nothing unusual..

That's sad, should I just trade in my car?

Look, you guys that need to really out nose late model 370Z Nimos, non moded mustangs, chevys, non M series BMWs and non AMG mercs can do it now without any real mods just by having the air flap magnet removed, the 2ndy cats removed, insure you are using only quality 93 oct gas, turn off TC and ECO, and putting wider tires on the rear to limit wheel spin on launch(very important). Mine has and does and is a known entity here. I'm happy to humble them with my sleeper. The ECU was suppose to add at most 20-30 hp at most. Yes, nice if turbos could be fitted @ how much? for bragging rights? looks cool when hood opened, and as of now only a dream. But if you really want 100+ real hp through the rev range, yet motor around as stock until needed, spend $600 for NOS and go raise some M & AMG hell until the code gets cracked(maybe). Then sell the NOS and add your turbos. Or use both. I'm still open to trying any thing Dave comes up with, but every day I'm very happy where I am at. No plans to sell.

I still wouldn't run nitrous without tune for longevity of my engine.

It's not a real problem. You are just using the nos to provide a stronger mixture than air alone. No additional tuning necessary, infact you retard timing 2 degrees is the basic mod. Go to Summit Racing site. You don't get greedy and opt for 200+ hp units. 50-100 hp is a nice inexpensive, easy mod. All can have safety features for your concerns. And it's measured at the rear wheels. Low end power is outstanding. Really so much simpler than any cam/supercharger/turbo application and their tuning requirements as well as the costs. Besides no one will guarantee these systems will actual work in the Gen. For god's sake, can't even get a moded ECU to work. For those who want gobs of power, don't think you all have many options at this time.

Idk I just never thought Nitrous was that much of a true mod. It runs out so fast, I think people wanted something more authentic and real, you know from the factory sorta. Nitrous is not one of them, I have almost a full twin turbo set waiting, (and yes my twin turbo application would fit) and meth injection. I think it can be tuned with a little bit more research and development, but I think they don't care to invest anymore time that they have. It doesn't make sense, you can tune the Korean 5.0, but the US one, how much could really differ from it to the point where you can't tune the other one at all!?? I wish they would just release info on how they were tuning it, that way at least other companies could help who care more on this project, I think they were opening the ECU physically and adding a processor chip to it or removing something from it, Idk I talked to some guy who benchmark tunes a lot and that's what he was telling me. Anyway, the way I see it, they won't invest anymore time for this project, because they know the money they'd have to spend figuring it out. They would probably wouldn't sell too many ecu's compared to there other products. So they won't make money off of us, but they won't let anyone else make money off of their idea either.

Again believe only one option at this time. When you think all the electronic development programs they will have to do for cams, a supercharger or turbo(2) to insure safe running, vs putting in a nos that has safety built in, you get my point. What can be more authentic american and real? Power when you need it, docile baby when you don't turn the switch on. But, everyone has their druthers and my hat off to anyone trying to go forward with the mechanical systems. Keep in touch, as I will if I hear more from David.

Just to temp the ones that want more power now. Nitrous Express Proton Plus offers 35-150 HP selective rear wheel increases for $459. Has modern safety features. Contact techs @ 940-767-7694 for more info.

I talked to BTRC Tuning the other day, 1-847-380-1466, and recorded it under the 4.6 tuning thread. They have a tuned 5.0 ECU on the shelf. Costs are steep @ $950 and rwhp gain is between 25-35 mostly after 4K RPMs. Not too great. Some only get 6-15 hp gains. Depends on tune you already have and dyno you test on. One point that makes me interested is that they will unconditionally return your money if you are unsatisfied with the ECU. When I thought about it that's about ythe same gains as LAP had hoped for. Infact David turned me on to BTC because LAP is not going any further with the 5.0. Too much interest with the twin turbos V6s which they already have mods putting out over 400 rwhp.

Yeah thanks for that Roc, its really just an impulse buy for me. If I buy it, it will not help my turbos I have waiting. That's okay tho, working with another shop close to me, who has the same tools BTR uses to tune. So when I get more funds for my build, have to go to them for a custom tune.

Called BTR and spoke to Luke, purchased the ECU because its plug and play Ill risk the cash to see if all is good. Should get it in 2-3 weeks and Ill immediately dyno and report back. This comes in good timing because I was thinking of selling her since there are now so many 500 plus HP options out there.

Don't forget us!!!! I like to play with lesser of the top dogs because they always want to run. Remember to pick your runs by knowing what a potential opponent's car's decals state. I know I'm an old timer but if you want to seriously keep up with latest amgs, Ms etc. you got to go NOS. Summit says 75-100rwhp shot no problem with this engine with their basic kit and no engine mods.. No one has yet to really solve the Genesis proprietary codes and now the newer Kia/ 70s V6s turbos already are producing 400 rwhp with codes being broken according to LAP. All ready said no interest in trying to solve ours. What we have is a fast, beautiful looking, sneaker car for the 2012-2016 time frame.

2Black: Any thing happening on your ECU order from BRT?

Wow, November of 2017, and STILL no Real Tune option.....!!!
