In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Oil level/pressure light going on and off

Hello, CLS 10378, is this for extended warranty buyer only? or am I eligible? there are so many Gen Owner having the same issue. I have seen who spend $900 to fix, while korean owners repaired for free of charge under recall.
Genesis was not going to cover it. So, it was only covered because I had the extended warranty thru Assurant.

This just started for me the other day. Pretty lame that it's recalled in Korea but not the states. I can't imagine the part would be any different. I have a 2016 V6 with just about 63k miles. My local Hyundai dealership (which is a complete customer service joke) didn't have any available appointments to "diagnose" the issue for almost two months! I was hoping to take it in to the mechanic that works on my wife's Toyota but they only service Honda/Toyota family vehicles and recommended another shop in town. Taking it there on Thursday morning.

My rear driver's side door doesn't open and now this crap. I'm starting to think this will be my last Hyundai as well, and frankly, not sure how much longer I'll be keeping it.

I went to the dealer for an oil change & yes indeed, they're aware of the issue.
My out of my pocket cost is $800 to $1000k for under $50 part & worst thing is most sensor brakes when they hit over 60k.

A range of $800 to $1,000,000 is quite large. You could buy several replacement cars at the top end of that range.
You've mentioned the part as $50 a couple of times. Where did you get that price from. It would be worthwhile to know, because the cheapest I've found the oil pressure sensor for is $115, with $154 being the normal dealer price.

you can search online: here is the part # 94750-2A0000 & yes, dealer prices are $115 up to $160.
I'm still driving as is right now. Waiting until they recall the issue. Can't spend over $800 to $1000 for this issue.

I have a 2016 genesis also that oil light comes on and off it started right after 60,000 miles and car stall when I start to accelerate sometimes
That was bad. Have you got that fixed? I'm having this problem now on my 2017 genesis g80 with 72,000 miles. The mechanic told me it's not the engine. But I don't know.

just to add fuel to the fire, this is happening now on my 2015 with 90k miles. The first time that i happened, I kept checking the oil like a hawk, and it never moved, so after awhile I just started disregarding it when the weather was sub-freezing. Any ideas on recall possibilities here in the states?

Just joined the club with this issue. 2016 with 74,000 miles and had the oil light on at idle for the first time today. Just installed a new H9 Interstate battery a few days ago but I doubt that could be related to the issue.
Any hope for a recall in the States?

My oil light also comes on intermittently as of this winter. It'll cut off when engine is revved above 750, or if I cut the vehicle off and wait a bit. My dealer quoted me $1.4k in labor and about $1k to $1.3k in parts (most of the cost due to replacing rings, gaskets, and spark plugs while you're already in the area). The oil switch/sensor is located inside of the top of the engine as everyone else has stated.

I've managed to cut costs via a trusted mechanic, Amazon, ebay; $600 for labor ,$752 for parts. Yet still, I'm contemplating trading this vehicle in, given the other common issues (steering wheel lock while driving, winding sound behind front vents intermittently, turn signal stalk flashes headlights randomly, etc).

Good luck to you who also encounter this.

I encourage all of you to report it here, if enough of us do we can possibly get refunded for the oil sensor repair and a recall can be placed:

I'm pretty sure I have the same extended warranty which covers electrical components. My deductible is also $100. I'm having the same problem! I have a 2017 Genesis G80 3.8 RWD. My car just hit 99k miles. The oil light will come on when I'm idling but go away once I accelerate. It's coming on more frequently though and to piggyback off others comments - it's been cold here in Fort Worth too. Thanks!

I'd certainly get it checked very soon. Hopefully it is a sensor but if not, the longer you drive it, the potential for an even LARGER repair. This is not normal.
This is normal when your oil pressure switch”sensor” brake down then genesis act this way happened with me too. Either get that sensor changed or check oil level before every start in the morning.

Note that "brake" and "break" have two very different meanings, even though they sound the same.
Verifying oil level is good practice, but it in no way assures that you have correct oil pressure, which is what the oil light indicates.

Is that what that light is? I thought it was to summons Aladdin :)

Since I can't read Korean, and my google translate fu is failing me, am I correct to assume that their TSB points to a faulty sensor and to replace it?

I mean, they aren't seeing a bunch of oil pumps failing are they?

Absolutely true. You can have enough oil, but low/no oil pressure and engine will be permanently damaged in a short period of time.

Ignoring the oil pressure warning light is analogous to ignoring a fire alarm. Not worth the risk IMO.

I'll add my hat into the ring on this thread - having the same issue. Light comes on at idle and goes away at higher RPMs. 2018 G80 w/ 70K miles.

Tried to go to a local mechanic and they could not source the sensor part ANYWHERE. Made an appointment at the dealer for next week, preparing to spend $1K at least.

Can't the local mech get the sensor from the dealer?

I know a lot of you will disagree, but here goes.

1. If the problem is truly the sensor, that means that the Oil
Pressure is actually good. Just the sensor is bad.

2. If the Oil Pressure is actually low, that means the sensor is ok, doing it’s job.

Years ago, I had a car with the same “low Oil Pressure” problem.
Here is what I did. I switched to a heavier viscosity oil. Problem gone. I sometimes would just add a half bottle (or whole bottle) of STP to thicken the viscosity.

I’m NOT saying you should do this, but it worked for me all those years ago.
