  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Other cool cars like the G70

I think Acura's claim of 354hp is probably right, based on the performance numbers we see. The dyno doesn't make sense but I did read that SHAWD does something weird to the dyno... not sure if that's true or not...

^ also, i wonder how much the FWD/AWD configuration impacts driveline losses compared to a RWD/AWD layout. my gut tells me there would be more loss with a transverse engine but i do not know that, and then compound that with AWD. if so, WHP loss for the Type S could be on the higher end of the typical range of ~10-20%.

~20% drivetrain loss on an AWD car is pretty typical.

And Acura isnt known for underestimating their crank HP like some of the other guys are.

Corvette vs M4. I'll take both please. The Corvette in torch red, the M4 in black sapphire metallic (gotta hide that oversized noggin').

Eek. Search YT for Edmunds Corvette vs M4.

Yeah... they sure did. It's a good looking car but so many broken fundamentals and Acura over hyped this car way too much. Seems they also tried to control the narrative.. Not cool.

I wanted to drive one but when I went to the dealership they fed me a ridiculous amount of BS. Like.. the car has ceased production. It's special order only. It may only be available again in 2023. It's a special - exclusive car, like the NSX. This was all an attempt to get me to buy the one they had... I was playing dumb.

Total fail

Getting eviscerated on Acura/Honda forums

The blind, uber-fanboys are getting roasted by all the other posters for all the excuses they have put forth in defense of the S-Type..

Based on C/D testing, the Sonata N-Line bests the Type-S in a good no. of performance metrics .

Really makes me want to see how the 2.5T Stinger fares (weird that there's still no press reviews of that) - figure that the TC trans will negate the benefit of being RWD.

^ C&D will be doing a comparo between the Type S and the G70. it'll be an interesting read. The Type S holds its own features-wise and price wise with the Germans, but comes up short on performance. against the G70 though, it will likely fall short on all fronts for anything other than subjective stuff like styling.

surprisingly, the Type S has a cramped rear seat as noted in the C&D article. that's odd. it is huge and heavy with a long wheelbase. i would've expected it to be roomy in the back since it is dimensioned like a BMW 5-series, and it's even heavier than a 5-series.

the article didn't spec the F/R weight bias, but a full review spec sheet will show this soon. close to 60/40 is what i expect which will hamper dynamics compared to RWD-based competition.

I hope C&D doesn't pull their punches in their G70 vs TLX type S comparison. I can't wait to see the Honda fanbois seething at the fact that a Korean car is labelled superior to a Type S by a major print pub. I find it all the more impressive how Genesis knocked it out of the park on their first attempt with the G70, while Honda had 30 years of experience in this segment to come out with a middling product.

I am quite active on the reddit cars subreddit which has 2 million subscribing users, and it's quite hilarious to see how almost all of the redditors who constantly bash the G70/Genesis are die-hard lexus/honda fans. They think it's still the 90s when those brands reached their peaks, without failing to realize they've been on a decline ever since and that H/K/G have evolved past them.

Reddit. Enough said. What a brunch of crap written by cupcake snowflakes that think everything should be handed to them. That whole site is nothing but toxic garbage.

What I find incredibly funny about these JDM fanbois is how they're excusing Acura's pathetic showing by claiming that it'll be "more reliable" than the G70. Sure, a new car with a new platform and entirely new turbo V6 from a brand that sits at the bottom of every reliability assessment like Consumer Reports and JD Power will somehow magically be more reliable because their 1990s goggle told them so.

It's nothing short of embarrassing that this car gets outperformed not just by the G70, but even the FWD Sonata N-Line and K5 GT.

There are already problems with the car. Squeaking steering wheel, infotainment glitches and failures and others...

First it was going to be super quick and smoke the class.. That didn't happen, so then they said it wasn't made to be quick but would have far superior handling. That didn't happen. Now it's reliable. Lol

And when it doesn't turn out to be reliable, watch them wax lyrical about "the prestigious Honda racing heritage of the Type S badge that the Koreans will never have" as their car proceeds to get smoked by a Sonata.

C&D will give a favorable review to the highest bidder, as always.

^ Well, C/D does have a bit of a Honda bias, but hasn't exactly translated to Acura since they have stunk it up over the past decade.

M4 trading blows with a GT500.

That M4 is no joke.

I don't feel the need to bash the Type-S as I suspect it's probably a great car in many ways but a performance car it is not. Still there will probably be many fools who pay over MSRP to own it because of the badge.

Honda peaked with the S2000.
