  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Pegasus Ornament: Ostentatious Posing?

I wonder how long it will stay on the hood before being yanked off by some thugs.
There are no thugs where I park. My grandkids can be hazardous to automotive well being, but thugs, no.

I just fear when out shopping or out to the movies or traveling that some asshat will yank it off hood.

That would help. From what I read, the regulation applies to car makers but the owner can put what he wants to with no regulation.

Yes good news, no regulation. This way if you have an accident and manage to castrate a pedestrian, they don’t need to fuss suing Genesis, they can go directly after you.

The most ostentatious thing about the Equus and G90 is that they were designed to be limo vehicles with drivers. Thus, many of the “goodies” are in the back seat. Sadly, most owners live up front.

Wellll...yes, if you have an older Equus then you're not enjoying refrigerated beer (or glass of Chablis) and cheese while having your back massaged with your feet up in a reclining chair and watching Caddy Shack on the seatback monitor. Those of us in a later model don't have some of those amenities, so there's really not much I could be doing while driving anyway. I mean, who drives in a reclining position (other than Tesla drivers)?

OK I know most people will say "just do it if you like it", but I'm asking for your opinion regarding appearance. Things are dead around this forum and maybe we can liven it up a bit...
The chrome hood ornament which seems to be called Pegasus (in South Korea) is available as an optional add-on through the dealer. On one hand I think it adds a touch of class and on the other I think it's a tad over the top. That and it might be a bit dated, who puts stand-up ornaments on nowadays? Other than RR that is (Spirit of Ecstasy).
So what do you say, yea or nay? And those of you who might have added it, how do you feel about it now?

I like the hood ornament in fact had it put on my 2010 sedan, it makes the car really stand out.....oh yea I had a small sticker for the back window that reads Jr Bentley, love it
I've been torn on this. If I delete a majority of the chrome on the car I think it could be worth it but I'm not sure. I really need to see this hood ornament in person to decide.

I love it! Everywhere I go people wonder what type of car I have. They think it is beautiful (both young and old). All my friends who have driven it want to get rid of there BMW 750 or Mercedes 500 s class.

Speaking as someone not 80+, I saw the mod on this site a few years ago and wasn't sure about it. I decided I was going to have to see the price to determine how much I liked it. I found it new on eBay for $20 and that decided it for me.

I kind of dig it and wouldn't go back. I always thought the Equus was a little too plain, relying way too heavily on its headlights to make an impact. I think this balances it out. I've also been able to tell people it isn't a Rolls Royce, it's a Hyundai. Still not sure if that's good or bad.

Bear with me on this. My second car was an old Crown Victoria LTD that I bought when I was in college. It was my small town's retired police car and still had the screw holes for the shotgun rack and dome light for writing tickets. I loved the heft of that thing and thus began my love affair with big American sedans. That was followed by a Mercury Grand Marquis, Lincoln Town Car, and Cadillac DTS. I always bought them used and with somewhat high mileage because I felt like I was getting a lot of car for the money. I was in my 20s and 30s but in my 80s at heart. After a couple of SUVs that were nice, but uninspiring - the vanilla cone at Baskin Robbins -- I recently started looking for the largest sedan I could find. They don't make many. Crown Vic? Nope. Grand Marquis? Nada. Buick Roadmaster? Natch. Avalon? That's plainly a mid-size. And a bench seat in the front? Fuh·ged·da·boud·it.

But after sitting in a 2014 Equus Ultimate with 88k miles, I discovered that all hope was not lost and my quest began. I just bought a 2016 Equus Signature with 20k miles in Casablanca white with ivory interior. I'm reborn!

My guess is that if you're one of the four people in America who still WANT to drive a sedan instead of an SUV that you would never take off-road save for the shortcut past the dumpsters behind Trader Joe's, you already go against the grain! You WANT to stand out from the crowd! You don't care that the drivers of those overpriced teutonic behemoths from Dingolfing (BMW) and Stuttgart (Mercedes) look down their noses at your, ahem, South Korean luxury car!! So if you already drive a car that no one recognizes and you want to do so with a chromed, molten Pegasus proudly jutting from the hood, then I say embrace it!! Be bold fellow Equustrians! The same day I bought my car I ordered the Pegasus! Say it with me -- you can never have too much chrome!!!!
