  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Post purchase price details here (US $ only)

I spoke to Naples Genesis yesterday about a Launch Edition they have in stock. Every car on the lot has an $1895 paint protection package that is already on it.
Make them an offer that doesn't include that. Everyone always wants to talk about MSRP, trade value and all that other stuff. ALWAYS negotiate an "out the door" price. Bring your own financing if you are going to finance. That way you can always talk in terms of what you will be writing a check for at the end of the day. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. I don't care what the dealer is going to give me on trade... I don't care what their invoice is... I don't care about add-ons... none of it. Always talk in terms of "out the door price."

Then, once you've established that number and you tell them you can use your own financing, let them see if they can beat your rate to finance the "out the door" number already negotiated.

NEVER negotiate payments (unless it's a lease).

If they say they add an $1895 paint protection package, so what? When you negotiate in terms of a final number- it's up to them to work out where the money goes. This completely cuts the legs out from under any "magic words" a dealer tries to charge you for.

Sales guy said it was mandatory.
Sorry, I was still editing when you replied. Read my post again because I was adding stuff to my post. Nothing is mandatory except tax, tag, and title.

I hear you.

No trade here. My DD is a 13 CTS V Wagon. It's not going anywhere.

Dealers seem to still be drunk on covid pricing around here. I've put in a call to a contact in Michigan because I'm tired of screwing around with these Florida pirates. I've always gotten better deals up there because in the Detroit area so many there have access to employee programs that the dealers have to work to earn retail business.

To save a few thousand dollars I'll fly in for $200, visit family, spend $150 in Gas, $150 for a Hotel and $150 on food driving it home.

I saved $10K on a Camaro 2SS COnvertible back in 2014 making the trip. I may not get the same deep discount this time but it's worth a try.

I once paid full MSRP on an in demand model, but they gave me about $3000 more than KBB trade value was for my trade. It was more than I paid retail on that trade 6 months prior (wasn't happy with it so I was looking to replace quickly). In effect I got $3k off MSRP. let them put the money in whatever packages and discounts they want, just focus on the final purchase amount. This was on a lease, they used that elevated trade value as my lease down payment plus some cash from me.

Sometimes though you can work the trade angle where you get a good price on their car but they stick it to you on the trade, then at the last moment you pull the trade off the table but keep the good price. Doesn't always work, and you have to be willing/able to make that deal work (take the trade with you).

A bit late but I have purchased my 22 G70 3.3T (base) in July, around $46,000. What's funny is that I had an appointment to buy a 22 Kia Stinger GT for $44,000 that same day, I literally stumbled upon this G70 by chance, even though the G70 was my first option. The prices were crazy high even for used.

I couldn't see any G70 3.3T for less than $50K, and that Stinger was pretty nice with a unique green color (I forgot what the exact color name was called), the Kia sales man I had spoken with was actually a jerk with me too, I tried to get him to reduce the price a bit and he started arrogantly telling me how much I'm lucky to even find this car and all that, all while being a bit rude about it. I eventually agreed to go get a test drive that day, literally an hour before I was heading there I found that G70 with only $2000 more than the Stinger, immediately went and bought it, the Genesis sales man was SOOOO much better and nicer, I didn't not get any discount but honestly I thought the price was good enough especially with the car shortage, plus it's a Genesis not a Kia 😄

My experience with KIA salespeople was not great and enough to put me off from the brand. Constant phone calls and texts when I asked to work through email, wouldn't provide quotes or pricing information while pressuring me to come out and start paperwork

Yep same here, and I've dealt with all that BS for 3 months trying to find a Stinger within my budget, the car shortages made things even harder and the sales men used that to their advantage. I would get call backs from them regarding my interest in one of the vehicles and I'm very polite and professional, but as soon as I ask or start discussing the price they almost seem angry with me for bringing up that subject, lmao like what?

I even was telling this guy on the phone that I'd rather we don't waste each other's time and just get to business on what the best deal can be, I would have all my information ready, what I'm willing to pay, how much down payment I will put and all that to make things quick and easy but then he was like "you say you don't wanna waste my time, but you are already doing that, the price I gave you is the best offer you will find". Yeah, very gentle and professional.

I get it, their job is stressful and they have to be rough sometimes, but you don't have to be an a*****e when I'm talking nicely with you.

I have been shopping Genesis for the last month and finally gave up. Every dealer wants $5k min OVER msrp. Others are paying that so they do not care if I walk out. Plus they have very few cars . One dealer said they had the one G70 and were only getting 8 new Gen's a month. Formerly were getting 50 a month.

I think this is across the board due to the car shortage. A sales manager friend says the dealers are making as much as before- selling fewer cars, but for more money

I just bought a Launch Edition AWD for exactly MSRP, not a penny more. $55,495 (or whatever MSRP was). Although some dealers here in SoCal will sell normal G70's for around $1K less than MSRP

Just bought a Vik black (dark brown genuine leather seats) ELITE AWD G70 2.0T. 2020, but new (never titled). Paid $38,400. Too good to pass up. Sticker was $44k, but they took $6k off because it was the concierge car. It had 3200 miles. I'm told only employees drove it, it wasn't the loaner.

I really wanted the 3.3t, but the cheapest one they had was $13k more. It's crazy to look at previous posts in this thread from a year ago when people were getting the 3.3t for LESS than, or about the same as what I paid for my 2.0t.

On a local reddit board someone said he needed to replace his car and the current sales imbalance led him to purchase a motorcycle for the next year or more until the proper balance in the car /truck market has returned. Does anyone know if there is a supply/demand issue or imbalance in motorcycles?

I don't understand the supply/demand issue. I know 4 people recently that traded in cars and bought new ones. They/we all got unusually high trade in values, and paid less than sticker for their new cars. I was one of the 4, and we all got vehicles we wanted, with the exception of me getting a 4 cylinder instead of 6. But that wasn't because of supply.

Yes.

My local motorcycle dealerships here all told me the same thing. Even though they had alot of used motorcycles in the lot. They also said that they have gotten Around 4 current year models this year of each color

For example. 350cc/700cc/1000cc. They have gotten four of each this year because they bid or request from overseas to receive and the manufacturer then also has to send some out all over the world. I remember them getting in 10 of each per quarter. Or if needed. But now they only expect 4 max.

And imagine if there's 20 buyers looking to getting a motorcycle in the summer ....it was either waiting. Or not getting one in time.

I was only able to get 2 months of riding this year because I wanted one for sure and didn't want to wait on next year since it wasn't changing.

I sort of rambled on this reply.

I have to take back what I said a couple posts ago. My FIL just called my local Hyundai dealer to buy a car. I've been told it's the top selling Hyundai dealer in the state. He was told they have 2 cars on the lot, and they're not getting anymore until March! I find that very hard to believe, but that's what he told me they said. I mean, what are they gonna do? Close the dealership for 6 months after they sell their last 2 cars?

Looking to get my parents a deal on the GV70 does anyone know how to get a Circle A cert now a days? I got mine from R_Spec a while back which is the main reason I have my G70. Trying to get my parents on the genesis bandwagon.

Got my new G70 Sport Prestige from Manly Genesis in Cali. $60997 OTD. Found out after they drilled into the front. Thought it was clipped on... -_- IMG_0131.webp
