I agree with this. I mentioned this before, but I've seen dealer discounts advertised for thousands of dollars off, but dealer add-ons add back onto the discounted price so it's close to MSRP again. I once tried to negotiate to remove the add-ons, and the dealer said they'd remove the dealer discount if I did. I probably could have negotiated harder to include the discount and remove the add-ons, but I digress.
In the end, I think it'd be helpful if people just included a price breakdown of their OTD price with discount off MSRP, manufacturer rebates, and dealer add-on packages. Of course people are free to post as much information as they want, but this format would be most helpful.
So then for a typical car deal in this vehicle class, is a 5% discount off MSRP good if you don't include manufacturer's incentives? I just mean in general and not for the G70 at this time.
But aren't the dealer add-ons already reflected in the MSRP as shown on the window sticker? For example, I used $56,560 in my MSRP figure above, and that included dealer add-ons such as a cargo tray ($100), mud guards ($115), first aid kit ($45), and wheel locks ($55), in addition to the $995 freight & handling fee. Are you talking about some sort of other dealer add-ons that aren't already included on the window sticker?
