  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Post purchase price details here (US $ only)

I know this is a crap shoot, but what do you guys think about waiting to pull the trigger on something til September 4th when thnew incentives come out? Obviously could work out really well or really bad. Just hate the thought of leaving money on the table because I can't wait another week.
I say try to negotiate an extra grand off the price and that way you're covered if they increase incentives for September. This can be your bargaining chip with the dealer that September incentives will get better. I agree with others that the chance of missing out on the Summer Sales Event discount is very remote! They'll continue to increase incentives until 2019's are gone, so they can make room for 2020.

I'm in the same boat as you and trying to decide what it's worth to me to wait for 2020. I feel that if I can save an extra $3K it's worth getting a 2019 since there are very few changes; especially if you can get a 4-button car (assuming you're going for a 3.3T) that hasn't been sitting in a parking lot for a year!

Very nice, thank you.

So I saw the 4 button console thing but didn't really read much into it. Are the 4 button center consoles the new or old versions?

Had an interesting day out looking for G70 3.3 sport yesterday. One dealer offered to give a really good price and was ready to go when additional conditions were added that did not seem legitimate. I honestly don’t feel comfortable writing them in the forum. Fun introduction to car buying in the US :)

No need to not feel comfortable giving us the details. It may help out someone else as well as yourself should people have advice.

Agree, do tell, the suspense is killing me! Lol

Basically was offered a great deal. Then was asked to write a blank check for a few grand (included in the total price) and deduct that amount paid to genesis...did not feel right or comfortable in writing blank checks for reasonably significant amount of money. For me it didn’t seem right..I will not name dealer publicly.

Sounds like the salesman/finance person was trying to get some extra money. You should contact the GM of the dealership and tell him/her about it.

For 3.3T the 5 button is older and 1 button is dead. Around December 2018 they changed to a 4 button panel.

A power trunk is a big reason I'm waiting for the 2020s. Even if it's not as cheap as clearance on the 2019s, if I'm going to be using the car for a while then having all the right features will be worth it. The power trunk would be a feature that'd get good use with groceries at least every week too.

My thought is that the price delta won't be too bad between 2019s and 2020s if you wait long enough. 2019s had the $3-4k lease incentives even around June-July before the Summer Sales event that's trying to clear out inventory. 2020s may not start with good incentives, but once all the 2019s are out, I think the 2020s will get close to or the same incentives as back in June-July to maintain sales.

Just get the power retrofit...$740...done.

It seemed like this was standard practice for this guy... they had worked for a long time at the dealer from my discussions with them maybe I am assuming too much, but I am clearly not the only one who has been offered this...

Seems it may be a technique that gets you to provide a commitment to the sale. Salesmen play all kinds of head games.

Yeah that could have been the case. Just left with a bad experience.... the elation of buying a new car... something I have wanted for awhile; followed by the deflation of getting into something that didn’t seem right and then resetting to go and try and to get a new deal worked out...

It is too much trouble to try to cheat an honest man. The salesman was fishing with a lure and came back empty.

Yeah... I should have known with the price he offered... what got me was I put the deposit done and as I walked out the door he told me about how to write the check... or should I say checks...

I was told later by another person ‘welcome to Texas’... sigh.

Well going to meet with some other dealers this week to try and get a decent price... I know about Circle A pricing and would love to get a valid appropriate certificate.. I did find a number from a company by internet search that allowed me to create a valid certificate so I could understand the pricing but not going to use that as I don’t work for that company / have no official relationship with anyone who works there.

One last thing...I am also looking at getting a Santa Fe... has anyone had experience in getting a better deal by trying to package two vehicles?
