  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Power Seat Would Not Go Back

Sir you are the poster of the year- this is exactly what worked for my seat. I suspect that the seat access function is wearing out that limit switch. Thanks a ton for the tip.
This solution worked for my 13 Equus. The seat generally functions for a while after moving the switch under the seat but will periodically get stuck in "forward only" mode. In my experience, I would say the seat needs the switch adjustment every 4 to 6 months at most. However, I find I forget exactly where the switch is and it takes me longer to find it than to actually adjust it. I did previously pay to have the seat fixed at the dealer one time but now that I know where the switch is under the seat I can quickly fix it myself from time to time and avoid any future expense.

This post was a great find for me. The most recent adjustment (which was today), I did decide to switch off the easy access seat function which makes the seat go all the way back when you first enter the car and I also took the advice to not set the seat all the way back and gave an inch or so from the farthest position to see if that helps.

I have reviewed all the posts that I could find on this forum regarding this issue. I have had intermittent problems for over a year, but today I almost had to call for a tow truck.

The seat did not retract to my setting, as it sometimes refuses to do. I tried a manual adjustment to move the seat back and that did not work. I tried moving the seat forward and that worked. I again tried to move seat back with no result. I again tried to move the seat forward, and that worked. At that point, my knees were touching the dash. I escaped the car (not easy at my age) and thought ... what the heck ... since the car is no longer driveable by me, I will run the seat full forward and that worked and then, lo and behold, the seat then responded when I tried to move it back.

This car obviously has to go in for service. Does anybody know if there is something that I can tell the service manager to get this fixed quickly? Prior posts on this issue are not encouraging (switches changed, motors changed, problems not resolved). Service for these kinds of problems has not been my favorite part of ownership.

Thanks!
Unfortunately I had the same problem - turns out it is a failure of the Drivers side power seat relay, a part that is extremely hard to find. Hyundai’s only solution is to replace the whole seat frame assembly at over 2 thousand dollars. Interim fix - they can move the seat back in the shop applying direct power bypassing the relay. Get it to where it is comfortable and then don’t use that power slide again. Heavy sigh.

I had this happen to me twice, both times when my wife drove my car and had to adjust the seat forward, The first time the dealer did something to the switch. The second time they claimed the seat motor had shorted out and they had to replace the entire seat track. Fortunately, I bought an aftermarket Zurich America warranty and the claim was approved saving me about $1700.

If the issue is the limit switch, it is possible to get it working again temporarily at least. Operate the main control to move the seat vertically straight up as far as possible to get as much clearance underneath as possible. Go in through the rear door. Move the fabric flap at the bottom of the rear of the seat out of the way. Reach under the seat - palm up - about halfway up and toward the right. You can feel the switch pointing toward the console. Flick it a few times forward and back to free it up. The switch is a spring-loaded momentary type. You might use a mirror to help you see where it is. The operating tab of the switch is white - nice of them to do that! Good luck.
P.S. The way to never have trouble with it again IMO is run the seat all the way back and then forward about 1/2 inch, and somehow mark this position, and then never move the seat back beyond this mark. Also, I think moving the seat all the way back while you are sitting in it puts extra pressure on the switch mechanism and is hard on it, especially if you are a big guy like me.
Thank you very much, this gave me an idea on what the issue was and I watched this video for the visuals

This really helped me thank you I just needed to move the switch an it worked thanks so much!!!!

Found it. While I appreciate the post saying what to do, I have to say the directions were very misleading. This switch is not at all towards the middle right of the seat. It's at the back on the far right. you can see the white tip which needs to be jiggled. This fixed my problem

Thanks for the picture depicting the exact location of the switch. I was able to find the switch and now my seat works perfectly.

Ok so experiencing the same problem. I see the switch. The white push is not visible. Tried to agitate it but no luck. Unbolted the seat rails in the back and lifted the seat to get enough room to remove the switch. Need to get an offset screw drive to get the most forward screw out.

Ok so jumped the seat motor. Got the seat back. Found a phone charger block in the seat and what was left of the limit switch. Looks like tab and face was broken off. That is why I couldn't find anything that looked like previous pictures. Thanks all!!!

Oye very this just happened to me on my '14 equus. For the life of me I can not locate the little switch.. I've reviewed this entire thread along with photos and no luck 😭.

Any further direction?
For the Equus, the switch is on the left, not the right.

I actually tried this and it worked? Seat moved every direction except back, so I moved all the way forward, and voila!, Seat now moves backwards! Glad such a simple hack worked but Genesis needs to resolve this issue...Thanks for the tip!

I have two 2014 Equus. Both of the cars have the same problem. Driver seat will not go back. Found this forum and read the directions about "clicking" the limit switch. However, I can't find that damn thing under the seat. Can you please guide me as to where I can actually see it. I have looked on both cars and can't for the life of me see that little white switch. I saw a pic that someone posted but I can't see that when looking from the rear floor board of my cars.

Thanks!
I haven't found it either ?

Having the same issue on my '11 Genesis. It looks like this is the Part # and only around $17 88533-3M900
Just pushed on the switch and it clicked and now seat works properly. Access from rear floor. Switch is about half way up on right hand side.

In an attempt to try the above solution with the limit switch, I lifted the seat upward with the control switch AND also moved the back portion of the seat a bit forward with the control switch. At that point, I tried the forward/backward control and it worked. Never had to access the limit switch.
