Price Paid For 2015 Genesis

Hello all,

Long time browser, first time poster. Finally traded my 09 Genesis for a 15 5.0 Ultimate, White w/black.

5.0 Ultimates are getting very hard to find around me, (Iowa), had three dealers competing for the sale.
Ended up leasing, 385/month, 12/36, 4k down. Includes first payment, taxes, title, license, and everything else. Sale price was 47,900, then had owner loyalty, 1500 lease cash, and some "Dealer coupons" to get to the deal I made.

Gave me 13k for an 09 V8 with 75k fully loaded in pristine condition.

I know, putting money down isn't the smartest, but I'm happy with the deal.

Just a heads up that the Hyundai dealer in Evansville is advertising 5.0 ultimate for $44,999 or $329/mo lease on their website. That is non demo, they have a demo 5.0 for About $38.5k. Pretty good prices IMO although they probably include $1k loyalty incentive.

Greek... Colin has done a fine job. This was real. Picking up the Ultimate late morning.. Need to do inspection. Will let folks know how like it. Keeping the 2012 5.0. Thanks for the tip on Colin. Leased this time since good deal. And this is first year car. $415mo with 18k miles 36 month. All rebates passed, $3k down.. $150 for wing badge. They quote $1695 for Platinum HUSA 10/100 which is a high. FYI.

Dear Friends,

I need your help.
Today I went to one of the dealers nearby and was able to negotiate to this:

2015 Genesis/3.8 AWD/Signature+Tech
Sticker price: 50,600
Negotiated price: 41,000 (+TAX)

I wanted Black+Beige interior - but only Black+grey was available (Hence was able to negotiate)

I wanted to explore the leasing option & here is what I got:
12/36/$0 down => 425 (+tax) [61%/0.00076]
However, the price they used to calculate lease was not $41K. It is quite confusing & I have some questions (I have my question inside the brackets below).
Here is how it was presented:

Initial Cap cost: $44,506
Add cap cost: $ 1,094 (What is this??)
Rabate : $ 3,000
Adjusted Cap cost:$43,255.37 (How did they arrive at this?)

Please let me how good is this deal (both Buy/lease options). Which one to go?

I want to close this as early as tomorrow. Kindly advice me as soon as you can.

Thanks a lot!!

I am guessing you are trading in your Audi/BMW/Merc/infiniti since they are showing $3000 in rebates ($1500 is for the owners of luxury brands or direct competitors and the rest is lease cash by Hyundai). At $44,506 dealer is giving you %12 discount before incentives, which is pretty good but could be a little better. Your add cap cost is the dealer handling ($499 in most dealers) and acquisition fee charged ($595) by Hyundai finance. We must be missing an item on the list like negative equity from your trade in or some sort of tax or fee because your adjusted cap cost should be $42,600. If you are doing a true 0 at signing your first month's payment ($425+tax) would explain most of the missing amount though...

Thank you so much for your quick response!
I am not trading any car!
One question I still have is, shouldn't they apply the 3000 rebate on the negotiated purchase price of 41,000?
They are ready to SELL it for 41K! But not ready to use 41K as CAP! Is that normal?
Also is buying a better option for this price?

Thanks again! You guys are awesome!!

The dealer itself is not ready to sell the car to you for 41k (that would be %19 off MSRP before manufacturer incentives). They are selling you the car for 41k before fees and taxes because Hyundai USA is going to reimburse the dealer for $3k in rebates. You or someone in your household must be driving one of the luxury brands or direct competitors (like Chrysler 300 or something) otherwise the dealer wouldn't qualify for the full $3000.

Personally I favor lease over purchase since you are only financing the depreciation of the car versus financing the entire cost of the car plus full amount of sales tax. Moreover the Genesis has very competitive lease numbers (high residual and relatively low money factor compared to Germans)...

You're welcome! One last piece of advice, cross shop all the Hyundai dealers in your region to get the best pricing and don't visit the dealers in person until you have an agreement on price. They will do their best to get you to the dealership and use that as a bargaining chip. Take your time and let them come to you, they will work hard to earn your business especially before the end of the month in order to hit their target sales numbers for the month.

Hey congratulations! That sounds like you landed a killer deal for a high mile lease. Was the money factor 0.0001 even w the new lease incentives? I saw the white ultimates there, suspect you will be happy. I passed on the warranty myself, might get one later on. Hope it all works out, glad you were able to get a hold of Colin, he put me into a black on Ivory 5.0 ultimate. Up to about 650 miles and loving it.

I thought the MF on a 5.0 currently was .00022 and 55%. Have they changed?

I did not. Try again? I picked the car up this morning.

Stop by and see them. I asked if they paid finders referral fees. They said they did. Colin did a nice job.

Not sure of factor using that calculation. The running rate (kind of like a interest rate) added up to about $1000 for the 36 months. Rounding the numbers. To look another way at this.. 415X36=14,940 $44,999-14,940=30,059 with 3k prepay lease down, puts it at $27000 NPV. They show the "residual" $28k and change as a buyout. No return fee of $500 added on if bought out or lease another Hyundai. Not bad at all. Walk away, or buy it where the running rate was very small in dollars.

This all above is pre sales/use tax paid on the rent/lease per month. They had small acquisition/doc fee of a couple hundred.

They sold platinum warranty 10/100 for $1395. About $95-150 high over internet. Not worth screwing with someplace else. I do not need it now. Maybe mistake to buy. Whatever not used is refunded at end. Mine on the 2012 language does cover the adaptive cruise sensors and DIS. I "assumed" the same here. Nope... They exclude the radar/laser sensors for the self driving and cruise. And while the DIS is not excluded, not sure if it is covered past 36k. I got the warranty for the mileage past 36k. I was impulsive on this (they did NOT push this, my, now looking back, questionable idea). Going to call Hyundai Number on the plan to get the option to have the three day reversal on any service/extended warranty in this state. Assuming the DIS is covered, and likelihood will buy out for family use after the lease, may keep the extended warranty. We will see. Especially will buy out if the V8 is bye bye at that time (and the wheezing turbo V6 design due to EPA BS is the only HP option).

The "self driving" feature I call it, works well. Add some small wright to the wheel, it thinks you are driving (no warnings), and went for VERY long time up I69 In full auto pilot mode. It got a tiny bit confused around a curve and entrance ramp at same time where the line paint disappeared. Started to head for the merging on ramp lane. Then figured it out and steered quickly back into the proper lane. It also tends to steer a wide birth within the lane traveling from bridge abutments on right gong over on the bridge. When using it and driving, it tends to slightly fight me, where I was quicker to react to cross wind. Anyway, it is cool. On the two lane it tracked behind a car, and at the stop sign followed smoothly to a stop behind the car in front. If they took one step to tie it into GPS, it would be able to turn at the stop intersection. Total auto drive. Other cars on the interstate did not bother it. If they went by in the passing lane, no problem. Same for oncoming traffic on the curvy two lane portion.. It's capability is way beyond stated use. And would do what the TV commercial showed (where the stunt drivers jumped out of the roof one by one until a whole string of Genesis were driving without anyone inside).

Compared to the 2012... Feels heavier (duh, it is),.. The overall experience is evolutionary improvement across the board over first gen. Although. I MISS the wood steering wheel. Very classy that is in our 2012... All the R-Spec features, yet a luxury approach. It also has the leather dash, and the 2015 has the "wood". The "wood" dash does not feel real. Have no idea if it is or not.

Oh, rumor has it, the redesigned coupe has a spruced up TAU V8 under good for consideration. Limited edition for one year only when the redesign is introduced.. Then back to sputtering wheezing turbo as only choice for enhanced performance. We will see.

Glad you like yours already. Your color combo would be real cool to have. Or one of the blue shades. When I am in town would love to see what it looks like in person.

May post pictures need to be taken of the 2012 and 2015 next to each other. Thanks again for the original heads up.

Oh.. Any extra prepaid mileage, does NOT get refunded if not used. Ford never did that with company or personal cars over the years leased. Maybe that is unusual to give the mileage back not used.

DRS, congrats on the new ride!

Thank you.

Folks, I promise that I do not work for Eckert Hyundai in Denton, but I bought a car for my wife there, and I must say that the fair way in which they negotiated price, and the quality of the service all around was simply the best I have ever seen at any car dealer. I encourage folks in the DFW area to at least give them a try. I found them very refreshing to deal with.

I have to agree with you. Eckert Hyundai are good people to deal with. Very fair throughout.....

Friends,

As I have posted earlier, I have leased the Genesis 3.8 AWD with ultimate package.
Once everything was finalized, the finance manager offered a Clear Bra & ECP Plus Auto Armour package (Entire Car Protection that claims to protect Interior & exterior against acid, tree sap, bird waste, tear, burns, alloy wheels & many more) for $999 both together.

While I wanted the clear bra & I was not sure about ECP Plus. So I denied - but he "somehow" convinced me to buy both (stating, with this protection, by the end of the lease I can just drop the car & walk away without worrying about any charges)
Now I am thinking I have made a mistake. There are mixed reviews about ECP. Are they (Clear Bra & ECP) really worth?
Please advise me.
Also I remember I was told this cannot be cancelled (this amount is added into my lease payment)! Is that true?
What should I do to cancel this?(I bought the car yesterday. They are closed on Sundays. I can talk to the dealer as early as tomorrow)
