price paid for extended warranty

Has anyone purchased one of these recently? I was quoted $2498 for the platinum plan from my Hyundai dealer, which as far as I can tell is the full price. This was on a 2010 3.8 Genesis w/ 29,xxx on the clock. Just bought the car this past Saturday.

I bought the Platinum policy the other day when we purchased our 4.6. I offered the $1200 that is available online and the F&I guy responded that his cost was $1214 for the policy. I believe that he is correct regarding dealer cost unless the dealer sells a lot of policies. I ended up paying $1412 for the policy.

What year and mileage was your 4.6? Both factors play a role in determining the "offering" price of the HPP. For those playing at home, I sent an e-mail to two more local dealers in the area and one to Jim Ellis Hyundai in Atlanta as they seem to get lots of positive reviews on this forum. We'll see what they come back with.

I paid 1100 for a HPP on a '12 R Spec. ;)

And as stated above and in another thread, the HPP covers everything 10/100 except the parking sensors and cruise radar.

According to my dealer and as stated in my plan, there is no copay if I use the selling dealer, otherwise it's 50 bucks, for warrenty work.

Since I plan on keeping the car for at least 10/100, I opted for it. It's worth the peace of mind.

That's another good price. It seems that the price is reasonable for the HPP when purchased on a brand new car. On a used one, they try to gouge you. I'm still waiting to hear from a few other dealers before I make up my mind though.

I have a 2010 4.6 with 34k miles and I was considering buying the extended warranty. I contacted the Jim Ellis dealership and these are the prices he gave me:

Please find the quote for the requested platinum warranty programs. The term and mileage are from where the mileage is today foreword.

6yr/72000 miles......1534
6yr/60000 miles........1392
5yr/75000 miles.......1453
4yr/60000 miles....1325

Zero deductible.

With a 50 deductable all of the costs are 100 less.

The prices seemed a bit confusing to me as they were higher than the $1,200 which several forum members have said they paid. When I asked him to clarify he replied"

*****************************************

It is the Hyundai platinum warranty managed by fidelity. The pricing is determined by the miles on the vehicle. If you were to ask those customers on the forum how many miles were on the vehicle when they purchased the warranty you would find that they had less miles than your vehicle.

The pricing adjusts based on the miles on the vehicle at time of purchase. I normally can sell the warranties at those forum prices if the mileage qualifies for the discounted price. I enter your VIN number and mileage into fidelitys web site and it gives me a price based on those two factors.

*****************************************

So it seems only people with low mileage or new cars are getting anywhere near the $1,200 price. I then called the finance guy where I bought my car which is Fitzmall in Rockville, Md. This dealership is widely known as having the best prices in the county and they are extremely honest. The finance guy (Paul) told me that Hyundai plans to no longer offer the Fidelity warranty starting in January. He wouldn't say why but reading between the lines I got the impression Hyundai is not happy with Fidelity.

What he next told me made me decide not to buy any warranty at all. I am leasing the car and my lease is up in March 13. Since I am the original owner I just naturally assumed the 10 year warranty would transfer to me if I bought the car at the end of the lease.

Paul told me that was not the case as technically Hyundai is considered the original owner as I am just leasing. So if I bought the car at the end of my lease I would be considered the second owner and not entitled to the 10 year warranty. That made my mind up to just turn the car in at lease end and get a new Genesis.

So if anyone else out there is leasing and considering buying at lease end, you will not be entitled to the 10 year warranty.

I paid $1484 for the Hyundai Platinum Warranty from Fidelity with a $50 deductible which covers me until September 2018 or 100,000 miles. But my car had over 49,000 miles when I bought it. I only drive about 4,000 miles a year so I'll never see the 100,000 miles. So basically I have 6 years of "almost" bumper to bumper coverage. The peace of mind is worth it to me, especially regarding the electronics.

$1188 for the 10 year Hyundai platinum warranty on my new '13 Rspec. $0 deductible.

How do you manage only 4000 miles a year? That much is put on my Genesis in 5 weeks.

Well my job is only 6 miles from my house each way and I only work 3 or 4 days a week. Plus there is plenty of shopping nearby so I don't really need to drive far for anything.

My work is only 5 miles away and I ride my bike most of the time. And I still put 15K a year on the Genney. :)

Got to get her out and drive her more. ;)

Work 5 miles away for me, shopping close too. about 4-5K per year.

Hello, I purchased the Hyundai Protection Plan Warranty manged by Fidelity for my 2012 Genesis. I didn't receive an enrollment kit/membership card in the mail. I was told by my dealer that the company doesn't send out any confirmation or materials for the warranty, and that the contract I signed when I purchased the vehicle is all I need.

Has anyone received any materials in the mail for their extended warranty?

When I purchased my Fidelity policy I received a 10-page contract. I signed the top page and returned it with my check. I retained the remaining pages for my records. I think you should have received a copy of the contract - you might contact Fidelity and inquire (1-866-367-9040). I purchased my warranty from an out-of-state dealer because they were offering a better deal (Jim Ellis Hyundai in Atlanta).

I made a recent inquiry into the cost of the HPP through the FL dealer website that comes up when you Google Hyundai HPP and this was their reply:

Uncharted waters ....here! I've changed prices on websites, each year, for 8 years but this is the first time that prices AND PLANS have changed. Biggie change! I am told that Hyundai has a new administrator for their HPP warranty. Now-now Hyundai still backs HPP(and all previous plans are backed) but the administrator(call center, plans[5yr/75k miles/$0], PRICES, contract, etc) has changed. I am told that the new administrator will be Zurich, an intl company. I heard that Zurich is much less expensive than the previous administrator(JM&A Group).

In answer to your question ....we should have the details within Jan. Therefore I *might* have the site ready 2/5. I check frequently and yesterday I am told that Zurich is "loading" the prices now.

So Fidelity is out and Zurich is in for the HPP. Looking froward to seeing what changes are made to coverage as well as pricing. Lets hope it is for the good....:)

**UPDATE*** as per a phone conversation I just had with Hyundai HPP 800-477-8089 Assurant is the new underwriter for the HPP!

Looking for a fair price for the HPP contact Luke Conroy at Great Lakes Hyundai 330-388-9018. Not as good as some of your deals on here but the best I could get at the time for HPP Platinum with 0 deductible $1559.00 for 5 years 100,000 miles on a 2010 4.6 tech. Unfortunately the years start from date of purchase but not the miles. They sub what you have already from the 100,000. Not cool.

That is the new plan not the old Fidelity HPP. I am uncertain after speaking with several people from Hyundai customer service/dealers/Finance if there is an underwriter. I tend to think no; as the part of the story that they all repeat is that Hyundai is taking care of things in house now. That would account for why things have taken so long and the right hand has not idea what the left is doing. :)

In either case if you are in the market for the HPP and did not buy your Genny from a Hyundai Dealer that could have sold you it with the car give Luke a try.

At the risk of sounding stupid, I have to ask what do these warranties cover? Is this for powertrain or just for bumper-to-bumper? How does this differ from a warranty on a CPO Hyundai? On a slightly unrelated note, does the warranty on a CPO Hyundai start from the day it was purchased when new or when it was sold for the second time? And if I were to purchase a new 2012 model, do I now have one less year of coverage?
