If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

price paid for extended warranty

LOL. I wished.
1,500.00 USD

I mean: the normal extended warranty at a very squeezed price is about 1,350.00.
Transforming it in lifetime for only 150 more (1350+150) sounds too good to be true.

Hi Folks,

I got a copy of the "fine print" today and here is exactly what it says is excluded from coverage on the HPP Platinum warranty. I don't particularly like what I read here unfortunately and it doesn't jibe with the all FACTORY INSTALLED electronics are covered....

"UNDER PLATINUM COVERAGE, ANY OF THE FOLLOWING PARTS: STANDARD TRANSMISSION CLUTCH COMPONENTS, AIR BAGS, SOLAR
POWERED DEVICES, HINGES, GLASS, LENSES, SEALED BEAMS, BODY PARTS AND/OR PANELS, TRIM, MOLDINGS, DOOR HANDLES, LOCK
CYLINDERS, TIRES, WHEELS, BATTERIES, LIGHT BULBS, UPHOLSTERY, PAINT, BRIGHT METAL, FREEZE PLUGS, HEATER AND RADIATOR HOSES,
EXHAUST SYSTEM. AUDIO, SECURITY, IN-VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS AND/OR ENTERTAINMENT OR OTHER SYSTEMS NOT FACTORY
INSTALLED OR APPROVED. WORK SUCH AS FRONT-END ALIGNMENT OR WHEEL BALANCING, SAFETY RESTRAINT SYSTEMS, CELLULAR
PHONES, ELECTRONIC TRANSMITTING DEVICES (EXCEPT FOR THOSE SPECIFICALLY LISTED UNDER GOLD COVERAGE), RADAR DETECTORS,
APPLIANCES, NEAR OBJECT AVOIDANCE SYSTEMS AND ALL LASER RADAR CRUISE CONTROL COMPONENTS, VINYL AND CONVERTIBLE
TOPS"

As I read it, this does not cover the smart cruise or the parking sensors but it does cover Bluetooth and the upgraded audio system. Anybody have any further/better thoughts on this?

This is the Platinum Hyundai Vehicle Service contract I have covered by Safe-guard products and the list of excluded items does not include brake pads, rotors or wiper blades like the pre 2012 contracts offered by Hyundai. I think brake pads, rotors and wiper blades are covered under this contract. Does anyone know differently?

Has anyone read their extended warrranty contract from Hyundai?

Check out the exclusions. Especially line item 15. Does anyone also know if the 10 year, 100,000 mile limited powertrain warranty covers line 15 pending there is no misuse of the car; all service intervals are met.

I am concerned about the oil consumption, and other related defects listed not covered. Unless the optional service contract is purchased. Which means, of one take the car in for every scheduled maintenance, and even does more than required mileage for oil changes, they will not support their engine on the 100k base warranty let alone the platinum version. Or am I reading that incorrect?

Audio/nav are included in my Platinum policy (Hyundai Protection Plan, underwritten by Fidelity Warranty Services, purchased from Jim Ellis Hyundai of Atlanta). My audio and nav failed (touch screen stopped responding) after the factory warranty expired, and the head unit was replaced, no questions asked, twice under the extended warranty, first with a reconditioned unit that was dead on arrival, and then with a new unit. I paid about $1200 for the warranty, and the head unit replacement alone would have been over $3000, so I'm money ahead.

Has anybody heard of CostGuard Wrap coverage? This dealership doesn't offer the HPP and CostGuard is the alternative.

^You can buy the Hyundai warranty at many other dealers. No need to buy a warranty at your local dealer.

I'm looking for the Platinum 10/100,000 extended warranty in California.
So far the best offer is $1700, anyone else in California doing better?

No need to limit your search to your home state. Try Jim Price Hyundai in Charlottesville, VA. Ask for $1,200.

I was offered the platinum warranty in July 2013 for $1130...... declined.... might go back to see if I can get it for that!!!

I live in Florida , Im told extended warranties can not be discounted here. State law says extended warranties are insurance and law says insurance can not be discounted. Has anyone in Florida gotten good deals ( discounted) on extended warranties --- not third policy. Thanks

You mean you can't buy out of state? Who would know? Try Jim Ellis Hyundai in Atlanta

Ok , the law is Jim Ellis or any other dealer can not sell discounted warranties to Florida residents. I can buy at full price, but not discounted. I was hoping to find someone who bought at a discount ,who is a Florida resident. This is the plan offered by Hyundai, not third party policies. I didnt believe it until I looked into it in detail. There has got to be a way to avoid this . Another law in Florida , is the dealer fee , that a lot of dealers everywhere try to charge--- in Florida its a law that dealers must charge an additional fee, that now is up to about $600, on this , though you have the car price reduced, to limit the impact--- but not the Warranty. Florida residents , please quote how you made out with Hyundai,s extended warranty. Thanks

I too will be picking up a Genesis soon and for sure want the Extended Warranty from Hyundai. Does anyone know if a discount can be had or whether we can purchase it from out of state dealers?

It has a $250 deductible per claim. Is good for 100k miles. You have to be the original owner and I think, under 12,000 miles and 12 months.

Covers EVERYTHING that is factory installed, with the exception of wear and tear claims.

If I'm not mistaken, GEICO is the only company that offers this.
