  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Programming homelink mirror to garage door receivers with rolling code technology

I have multiple cars and multiple remotes. How do I get them all to work? FOr instance, I have three transmitters. When I set them do I push three three #1 buttons concurrent with the # 1 on the mirror? I assume I do this after the learn button is pressed. When I do this I will run out of fingers or need 2-3 people. Is this what others did to make it work? I have 4 cars and 4 transmitters (the Genny has one transmitter in the mirror of course) and two garage door openers.

Each Homelink button transmits one code. The Genesis has three buttons and so can control three things. For 3 garage doors you need to use one of the Homelink button for each door. Program each button as if it was a remote. Left most button for left garage door, middle button for middle door etc. etc. If helps if you have a helper to push the learn/program buttons on the garage door openers too. I started by driving a distance from the house to program the Homelink buttons so as to not drive the garage door crazy during the Genesis button programming. There's a two step procedure, first program the car with the old remote. Then program the opener with the newly set car's Homelink button. For the first step, remember to hold both the remote and the Genesis Homelink button down for 20 seconds or so until the Homelink's LED flashes slowly and then fast (or is that fast and then slow? Whatever) and then release both the garage door transmitter button and the Genesis button being programmed. Then move on to the next transmitter and button. When all three are programmed, return home and with your helper go through the garage door opener learn cycle for each door. If you have 4 functions you will need to keep one transmitter since the car's Homelink can't control 4 things. Unless you clear the garage door opener's memory, each opener can store more than one remote's codes. So don't mess with other car's transmitters and they should still function as before.

One thing that I wish would be that the Homelink buttons were lighted at night, trying to push the correct one sometimes results in garage door shuffle unless I get lucky and push the right one first. If you have just one door to open then I guess you could program all three to work the one door. I'm not so lucky.

anyone happy with the ground clearance of the 2012 Genesis...when I park near a concrete wheel stop, it scrapes the bumper and the skid plate and last time I got over one it tore up the plastic barrier that hangs behind the bumper!!!!!. Engineering???Where were you when you decided to make this, Or is it just to sell more parts?????????

Almost every cars front end overhang will scrap on the parking curbs. Parking sensors help out don't they? Maybe consider an Outback 3.6R or a truck:D

No problem anymore! Going across west Texas at 80 PH (the speed limit there) pieces kept vibrating then falling off the car until I reached Odessa, where the transmission splash shield started dragging on the highway...found a dealer there and they removed the shield at no cost...good people. No more problems with the crap under the car, 'cause it went away...scattered across west Texas!!!!! My daughter's Lacrosse has the same dragging problem! Engineering at it's finest!

Just a response to the original long ago question - I have never been able to get HomeLink to work and I have own a Sonata, Azera and now a 2012 Genesis with both packages. I was using the Quick Start guide on the Genesis with no success but lots of frustation. As I was ready through the owner's manual, I discovered that the directions were different. Tried it and got it synced the very first time. Only trick is once programmed, you have to hold in the button you program for a couple of seconds to raise or lower the garage door.

Well after 3 years with the gen, I tried to program the Homelink with my Genie Intelligence opener. I tried all the recommendations given and followed the manuals' instructions.
Could not get it to work.
WTF.

Any others with the Genie product?
Did you get it to work?

My Genesis works fine with a Genie rolling-code opener. I programmed it using instructions similar to what MHT posted. There is also TSB 08-BE-012 with similar instructions. It worked fine for me on the first try. As others noted though you do have to hold the Homelink buttons down for a couple of seconds both during programming and forever after when opening/closing the garage. For my other garage door opener (old style with a DIP-switch based code) I barely have to tap the Homelink button to activate it.

Just purchased a 2011 Genesis CPO from Houston . Problem is when it was delivered to s
San Diego the owner manuals are missing. Can anyone pls tell me how to delete out the garage door settings I assume are already programmed in the car. Then instruct me on how to set up a new program to open my garage.
BTW - I love it so much!!!

TSB 08-BE-012 worked as advertised with my Craftsman rolling code opener. Instrux on motor unit says to hold the learn button and receiver/homelink button simultaneously, but no need. Just press the motor unit button, release, and hightail it to your Genny to press your selected Homelink button. Hold for 2-3 secs and voila! The handheld garage door opener is now going next to the BlackBerry somewhere in a drawer...out of sight and obsolete.

Ok, I can't be this big of an idiot... Followed all the instructions for rolling codes and nothing. Got my wife's Acadia programmed in 45 seconds. Gave up after nearly 40 minutes on my 2013 genesis sedan. Any ideas?
ETA:
I got it. I either missed or misread... There's an extra step for this that isn't on other home link systems.

For others having issues you have to train the mirror with your existing remote, then train the garage door opener. Unlike on must other home link set ups where you just train the mirror from the garage door learn function. No idea why they have the extra steps. (basically I am an idiot)

How true...
I just recently moved back to my home state Texas and I had to retrained the code again. Yes, that's extra step (train the remote first!!) was not anywhere in the manual or homelink web site.

I guess I'm stoopid because I cannot find the bulletin that shows how to program the homelink garage door opener....... *sigh*

Hi Everyone,

These are steps that I did to program Genesis HomeLink to open my rolling code Garage door successfully.

Begin: Park your Genesis outside your garage, just as you are about to open your garage to drive your Genesis inside.

Step 1: Turn on START botton in accessories position (1 press). This turns on Genesis HomeLink device.

Step 2: From inside the Genesis, Press both buttons 1 & 3 of HomeLink on the inside Rear View Mirror for about 20 - 25 sec, until you see the red light of Genesis Homelink flashes ... (slowly flashing). This indicates that Genesis HomeLink is ready for your programming.

Step 3: From inside the Genesis, press the button of your garage door opener and your chosen HomeLink button (your choice, either 1, 2, 3) at the SAME TIME for about 15sec - 20 sec. Doing this, you will see that the Genesis HomeLink indicator RED start flashing rapidly. This indicates that Genesis HomeLink is ready for learning your garage door rolling code.

Step 4: After the Genesis HomeLink starts flashing rapidly, go back to your garage door control unit which mounted on the garage door ceilling and locate the LEARN square button (mine has yellow color). Press this button ON.

Step 5: Go back inside your Genesis, in within 30 seconds:
1) Press your choice HomeLink button on your inside rear view mirror for 3 seconds, then release
2) Press this same HomeLink button on your inside rear view mirror again for another 3 seconds, then release
3) Press this same HomeLink button on your inside rear view mirror again one more time for another 3 seconds, then release

Your Genesis HomeLink should activate your garage door.

Programing your Genesis HomeLink is now complete.

I like to share this with all of you, who is going to program your Genesis Homelink to save your time.

I really enjoy the Genesis. I have found all functions I checked is working as expected and the Genesis is really impressive.

Best regards,
