  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I recently purchased this car (base 2.0 T) and it was my first new car purchase. While I am enjoying it, there are a few things that I am curious about, the first of which relates to the front grill/bumper area. I've attached two images for everyone to see, to better explain what I am asking. In the first image, you'll notice that there is this circular cut out on my car. It is only on one side of my car and not the other side. If it had been in both locations, I would have assumed that it was for some future attachment, or for a different model, but given that it is located only on the left side, it seems odd that the manufacturer would make this cut out as part of the design. Can someone explain what purpose this serves or for any future purpose?

My second question involves the same area and relies on picture number 2. There seems to be about 4-5 small, circular indents in the area. They are all aligned horizontally and I took a picture of one of them so that forum members could see it. I couldn't really showcase them all, as they are very small. Again, what is the purpose of these small indents?

I'm just curious and interested in learning, as my searches on Google didn't yield a result and online photography pieces do not seem to show these particular attributes.

Thank you for any of your time in answering my questions.

p.s. excuse the ripped jeans. It's a lazy afternoon for me, ;p

Not a coupe owner so I'm guessing a bit here... and I really can't see the circles in your pic #2 - the reflections in the chrome dominate the pics.

The larger circle in pic #1 might be the access point for the tow hook. The Genesis sedan has a giant eye bolt in the spare tire tool kit that screws into covered holes in the front or rear bumper... in case the car needs to be dragged by rope or pulled out of ditch on the side of the road. It's described in the owners manual.

Thanks mike. You are correct. I ended up going to the dealer with the question, since I live right around the corner from them. They said the same thing. Since I didn't know what it was, I couldn't find the answer in the manual, as I tried.

In the second picture, only one of the indented dots are shown. They are there for front hanging license plates for states like New York that require plates in the front and back.

Appreciate the response,
