R2C Cold Air Intake Interest??

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

I can only state what i have experienced - the car is more responsive, and 'feels' quicker. I plan on taking back to the dyno - then maybe doing a few 0-60 runs.

In the end it's all about having a bit of fun with the car. I have pretty aggressive exhaust as well as the intake now. I don't think anyone expects these mods to make the Genny compete with an M5. It just allows you to personalize the car to your taste, if that's what you want to do; in the same manner ans wheels, suspension, body mods, ect....

For those who like the free-flowing intake tone as apposed to the silent stock, this is a viable option for you. From the dyno printout, you can see the curve and the gains. How that relates to the actual performance is not something i can answer at this time, unfortunately.

Re: Not convinced

Despite anything a dyno might show I found that two mods seemed to make the car more sluggish from a dead spot: the "CAI" and the cat deletes. Here's a few vids:

Magnaflow exhaust only

Magnaflow plus CAI (actually an SRI I Think)
http://youtu.be/smmhf0eEoyoag

These vids stop at 60+ mph but it's really obvious 0-100. It's a second or so slower. MUCH louder if that's what your looking for

I can't view videos at work, but were you controlling for humidity, temperature, altitude, gradient, etc.?

Cat deletes can move your power-band up a bit but unless you've done something like add a 3.5" pipe that kills exhaust velocity there is no way you would lose that much power. An unshielded SRI would also obviously hurt power.

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

I am also very interested in a cai for a 2013 Genesis 5.0. I have been researching since I got this car a few weeks ago, but I hardly see any performance mods...

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

So peeps, not trying to revive this old thread but wanted to get the most recent info I've received out there for the moment as I sent a message to R2C to see if anything will ever happen with the intake that was designed so long ago and to my surprise received a quick response back stating they hope to be shipping out by the end of February. I've got my fingers crossed.... I'm hoping this is true cause I planned on doing some work on my Genesis to freshen her up before spring hits, maybe this will get my butt moving on that again.

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

That is very exciting!!

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

Good to hear, I had an R2C on my Coupe, excellent product.

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

Just emailed R2C and got a response back already!

Thanks for writing.

The initial fitting will take place this Saturday!

I’ll have updates next week.

Regards,

Ed

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

I will be going to R2C this Saturday to finish up the intake project. I will post pictures of the intake in any finish options they currently have afterwards.

I will be getting dyno results for them at a later date as I wont be able to use my company dyno right away and will need to wait for an open shop day. My car has already been tested around 310 whp on a different test session this past fall. So I will see what it picks up, hopefully I will have time to do back to back testing for stock vs intake but I cannot guarantee I will have the time.

Based off the prototype from last year, I can tell you it will feel better and sound great along with decreasing the pressure drop through the intake assembly by 78%

Hopefully all goes well this Saturday, and I will give an update soon after.

It does fit both the 4.6 and 5.0 motors in the first generation sedans

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

Any one hear of a price point? the weapon R setup is about $300 it has a sort of block off to keep engine heat away.
This one ?

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

I would imagine around the same price point, you can see installed pictures of the prototype earlier in this thread to make the comparison, the 4.6 pictures are on page 3 and the 5.0 are on page 5. Obviously the final product will be more refined than the prototype since the prototype was hand fabed. I will give any additional details I receive on Saturday when I post the initial install pictures. Fingers crossed.

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

Unfortunately many of us have 4.6 including myself, and that doesn't help us but i did see that release.
The intake I'm test fitting in the morning will fit the 4.6 and 5.0 but they will not have a solution for thee 3.8 guys.

I am quite biased towards the R2C as I prefer the filter media to the foam stuff that it seems the Weapon R has on it, I am also not sold on the multi-tube design as it seems to contradict everything I've learned and tested myself.

The R2C will also have a black option to go along side the polished which I prefer, maybe they will even produce it in their signature black nickle chrome finish but I haven't heard any details on that yet. There is also always two filter media options with R2C a higher filtration efficiency street filter that is white and a high flow media that is from the "R2C Black Hex Series".

But I can admit I am biased towards the R2C product since I aided in the design and testing process, but I can honestly say from an unbiased perspective every time I've seen one tested it has out performed the compeition.

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

Finally have my R2C Performance intake installed!!!!!! I'll make a report on the performance aspects a little later on but here are the pictures I promised. They have the option on a polished or smooth black power tube, and the standard high efficiency white filter with a back supporting hex screen or the Black series filters for a less restriction option.

They should be going on sale soon!!!!!!!!

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

Very nice!

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

Looks like I came back just in time!!

Is the structure protecting the filter from the engine bay air sealed to the hood? What is it made of? Is it included in the final product? And most importantly, will it fit in a 2013 RSpec? :)
