  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

R2C Cold Air Intake Interest??

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

All parts seen are included with the final product, the only extra option is the black hex series race filter over their standard R2C powerflow white media. Both are washable medias and can last the lifetime of the car, as well as not requiring any oil.

The heat shield is a thin gauge steel, 16 I believe (.065") that is powder coated a wrinkle black. it has a .75" tall rubber seal around the edges that to the best of my knowledge seals to the underside of the hood. there may be small air gaps around the shield depending of orientation but nothing that seems concerning to me.

Finally yes it will fit the Rspec, there are pictures of the 5.0l motors with teh prototype installed on page 5 of this thread

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

I did some testing yesterday night on my company dyno and on the streets with some data acquisition devises I have. Unfortunately the dyno wasn't giving good data due to how cold it was so I was unable to get a horsepower number quite yet.

First the temperature, the ambient air temp was 8 degree F last night so that is my base. The factory system intake air temps were peaking around 28 degrees while the white powerflow and black hex series filters on the R2C intake brought in air at 16 and 15 degrees respectively. The IATs are always better lower obviously but they aren't the biggest power maker as the density of air doesn't change that dramatically, the difference of 30 degree air and 90 degree air F is only 15% and then take into account that only roughly 21% of air is oxygen so over a 60 degree swing you only see minor differences.

Meanwhile, while testing the drop ion pressure as the air travels from pre-filter to throttle body I observed an ambient pressure around 985hPa(14.28psi). The factory system caused pressure to drop to 892hPa(12.94psi) meaning a 1.34psi loss in manifold pressure due to only the filter, airbox and intake tube.
The R2C White Powerflow filter resulted in a manifold pressure at 964hPa(13.98psi), only a .3psi system pressure drop. The R2C Black Hex Series filter saw a manifold pressure at 975hPa(14.14psi) so only a .14psi pressure drop! That's a 77.6% or 89.5% reduction in pressure drop respectively.

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

Thanks for the research so what does that mean in English?

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

It is a basically saying that the filter and intake assembly allow air to flow in a much easier way so that they more closely represent an open throttle body (ambient air pressure) than it does the factory system pressure. The less pressure drop, the more air there is for the engine to pull from when it needs it.

So the intake tested well for the colder air that most people look for in an intake, but I saw a huge difference in the pressure that will have a greater effect on the increased performance. Hopefully I'll be able to get it on the dyno again soon to get some clear HP numbers that are clear cut.

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

Do you have a baseline, with stock numbers on that particular dyno so your not running into issue with clear cut increases?

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

I have done a baseline on that dyno this past fall, I have a thread that posted my results. But I also plan on doing a back to back stock vs intake if time permits.

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

and does initial orders get discount? :)

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

Parts should be ready to ship, I saw they posted the product picture on the website saying shipping now. There is not a product page set up yet but you may be able to order by phone but I cannot be sure. If someone contacts them for a group buy they may be able to ask for a discounted initial group buy but I didn't hear anything about that or pricing. You will have to contact R2C directly for that info. If I hear anything I will be sure to let the forum know.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

I just sent them an email, I will post more information as it becomes available to me.

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

Any updates? Ready to order....

Re: Cold Air Intake Interest??

Alright guys here it is, I already placed my order. They are having a promo right now as it is a new product. I got the high flow black hex option with black powder coated piping. The promo is $249 as of now and will go to $300 after promo. Give them a call to order. I should have mine for the weekend. Then I can give a review for us 5.0 Rspec guys.😎
