If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Rear-View Camera Quality

Thanks for rubbing in the lack of surround camera views on the US market :(
You aren't missing out much, it's quite small on the screen and not as helpful as I initially thought it would be. I have even set the default view to be just the backup one alone, less confusion and larger size.

Same here - does the job perfectly fine for me. Keep in mind that it's meant to be used as an aid - not as a head down replacement for actually looking behind and around the vehicle with your own eyes in real time as you move in reverse

I also find it to be perfectly fine at night: I have a long dark driveway and have to back out to the street after coming out of the garage if all 4 of the family cars are home - I have no issue seeing where I'm going in reverse with the camera as an aid.

I think it's worst drawback is the execution. It gets dirty very easily from the back draft which of course ruins the image quality. They should have made it like the fold out style on many cars we see today.

That is definitely true. I have noticed the 2015 camera placement is far worse than the 2009/2012 models in this regard. It gets dirty far more easily.

It as well as the whole back of the car. I never had car where the back gets as dirty as this car does. Must be the awesome down force we have for our 420 horses :D

I tend to agree with Pahaska. For what it is intended to do, I find the image to be just fine. The idea is that it's an aid to keep from me rolling over something while reversing. Now if I were attempting to make high quality archival recordings or view the latest James Bond epic in this resolution, then you bet I'd be unhappy. But such is not the case.

My camera is the same, kinda like the camera on my kid's tech toy. My 2012 Genesis was much better. But I can definitely live with it. I see what I need to see, so it works for me.

The 1st gen is as bad if not worse.
It might have to do with the aerodynamic shape of the car too.

For $40.00 for the two lamps it's worth a try. I'm sure forum members would like to hear how much these lamps improved your backup cameras performance.
Thanks for the link.

I live in a dark street and that's why it's worth the upgrade.
It also improves of the safety of the surrounding, IMO.
Here it is.

Good point. I've disabled bluetooth contact autodownload too because the top bar notification is on top of the camera's most important viewing area. Sometimes i wonder how hyundai could be so dumb

Anyone pull the stock camera yet? I'm going to guess that there are many reasonably priced hi res mini color cameras available that have much higher resolution specs that could be substituted for the stock camera as a plug and play item.

Probably easily done however I am sure you would lose the dual view option we have. ;)

Must be using a different system on Canadian models (unlikely) as my 2015 back-up camera is very clear and crisp. Definitely an improvement on the one fitted to my 2012 - my wife even commented on the fact. Nightime vision isn't great but no worse than any others I have experienced.

I must agree. My camera/display is extremely clear and precise. When I back into my garage I can see the defined diamonds of my floor covering. Is it possible that the small plastic covering from the factory has yet to be removed during the PDI. Worth checking...this is for protection of the lens while being shipped.

As do I, which is why I was just at the PrecisionLED webpage. They had two "colors" to order, 6000K (Cyrstal White) and 8000K (Cool White). Which did you get? Would you get the same again?

I wish that is the case, worth the check again though.

As many mentioned, as a backup camera during the day, it does the job. It is bad quality in comparison to even a lot of economy cars not to mention luxury brands that genesis claims to go after. I got used to BMW's top view and Lexus' much clearer wide view backup camera and expected something comparable. It doesn't bother me as much, it is what it is, just something else that just isn't as good as others.

If you look at the installation video from PresisionLED (a supplied link to U Tube if I remember correctly) the bulb swap they are doing is being done on a Genesis coupe - not a sedan. The backup lights on the 2015 Genesis sedans looks to be LEDs. Anyone know? I want to get more light back there as well.

I personally don't have a problem with video quality of the camera - could be better of course, but it serves its purpose to show what's going on in the rear of the car. My only complaint, as some noted in prior comments, is that it gets dirty / wet much easier than it's Gen 2010 predecessor, so sometimes after driving in the rain it's completely useless and I have to remember to wipe it, which of course I forget the moment I shut the car off.

If I remember correctly I got the cool white and the shorter version of the bulb.

I assume yours is the 2nd gen and I cannot comment on that but one can easily tell if you can look thru the clear housing cover of the light.
Both coupe and sedan (1st gen) share the same exact bulb type.
The coupe took a bit more time to replace than the sedan but took me no more than 10 minutes on the sedan.

I'm guessing from the pictures the 8000K Cool white is bluer than the 6000K Crystal White. Do you see a lot of blue in them, and would you do the cool white vs. the cyrstal white if you had to do it over again? I guess a related question is which color works better with the backup camera, which does the camera see better, in other words?

My error I think I got the 6k version which you can tell by the pic I posted early.
I never saw the "blue" version of it so I cannot comment on that.
But for all of cars and my family members's cars I've always used 6K inside and out and we all like it.
