  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Recall/Free Tire Replacement???

Just had both recalls taken care of on my car...tire ride is both quieter and smoother with the new Continental ProContct TX tires (I have the V8).
I like the new conti's for the same reasons - and we can still go 170 mph - what they're doing to the V6 owners is wacky - obviously mandated by lawyers.

What is the exact model of Continental tires replacing the 5.0 Hankooks?

They are pro-contact TX's rated at 96W. High speed tires.

It's odd that in all the posts, nobody mentioned that Hankook's are a Pep Boys staple item. That's all I'm gonna say

I went online to schedule my lamp recall and when I put my VIN in it had the tire recall listed in there too. So it is legit.
I figured there would already be a big thread on this, but I looked and didn't see one. I got a letter from HMA (seems legit has my full VIN on it) saying due to complaints from some customers I can replace my stock Hankook tires with Continental ProContact tires at no charge.

Is this a legitimate thing?
I've only got 5k miles on my Hankooks and no major issues, but is this a no-brainer I don't want the tires to be terrible as they get older and free is free?

Thanks if there's another post please just point me in that direction.

Why am I riding on a donut??????????? I am trying to get a window when the replacement tires will be in Houston. That is my question. Does anyone know that? Thanks

Geez - some anger issues there, pal? Seemed like a simple question, but I guess your question (that can only be answered with certainty by Hyundai - not anyone here) was too important to engage in any dialogue.

Interesting - at least on the V6, the new Michelins are rated worse than the Hankooks on Tire Rack for ride quality and noise.

The V6 guys are getting an all-around shafting, in my opinion - but, it's their call.

Yep...

Regarding the speed governor ... when was the last time you drove 150 mph? Dropping it to 130 is totally inconsequential. It does not effect performance at all, just the top speed which most of us will never reach anyway.

Someone asked if the dealer would admit to the lower governing speed on the new cars on the lots. When was the last time you bought a car, (or didn't buy), based on the top speed? When was the last time you asked a dealer about the top speed?

This insane griping makes no sense. Some people have to make negative comments about anything, especially good things. Hats off to Hyundai for doing the right thing.

Question for folks who still have the V8 and the Hankooks. I forget, what are the OEM tire sizes in the front?

They were the same. If they changed the dimension up front and not in back then the people with AWD like myself would have issues. For those with RWD, it would not matter.

Right, that's for the ProContacts. Were the Hankook's also 245/40R19 or were they 245/35R19 in the front?

P245/40R19 front and P275/35R19 rear tires

Not sure what you mean?

Easy - since you can't rotate the tires, you don't have to. Unless you want to do a sideways rotation.

Bottom line - you will be spending more on tires.

This is spot on, Hankook tires are failing in the field and need replaced, it's not optional or anything like that: you must accept what Hyundai is forcing down your throat.

Also Hyundai is giving V8 owner's 10 years to drive the V8 and then if they want Hyundai will give them a brand new V6 powertrain, installed at no charge.

Great example of .gov thugs attempting to snatch our virile V8's via a foreign entity, did they really think we wouldn't notice??

:welcome:

I'm glad you can see it "my way" ;)
