  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Reported Issues with the Genesis GV60

Anyone have their rear axles snap before they got around to do the recall? Yep My right one let go last week. She has my axles on order so they can install as soon as they arrive. Let me say my car is as clean as it's ever been as been detailing it in garage since.
Hi, my rear axle snapped on my 3 month old Gv60 as I was turning on to a highway. Hear a loud noise and wheel started making crazy grinding noises. Thankfully was able to get to the shoulder safely. Got it towed to dealer who says they have to look at it first before telling me if it’s covered..How do I ensure this will be covered under warranty? I mean an axle shouldn’t be snapping on a 3 month old 70k car.. I’m aware of the recall but it doesn’t come up for my car when I put it my VIN…Seems pretty obvious it’s related to the recall issue..

Step 1: Take it to the dealership and insist they fix it.
Step 2: There's no step 2.

The fact that there is a recall further boosts your case, but problems happen outside of recalls and still are covered by warranty. If the headlights fell out of the car as you were driving down the road, they'd still need to correct the issue, even though there isn't a recall for that problem.

Welcome to the forum new guy with one post. Boy, what a terrible thing to happen. What dealer did you take this to? And what was the service writers name?Just for info so we know which dealers treat you good and bad. What state are you in? Why would you think that this would not be covered by a warranty? Seriously.

Thank you for the welcome. Been lurking here a bit since I got my GV60 3 months ago but finally registered and made my first post after this incident.. On the phone was getting a bit of the run around when asking about warranty coverage but they will only be actually inspecting the car tomorrow so for now will give them the benefit of the doubt before calling them out..

I think it is reasonable for the dealer not to agree that the break is covered by a warranty until they actually see the car. What if there is a tree stump at the break point? I would not have raised the warranty issue on the phone since it would not have occurred to me that it would not be covered. I would have just called for service and a loaner.

Now, absent the tree stump or something like it, if the dealer started objecting to a warranty claim, I would then get very upset.

Update: Dealer looked at the car and said it’s due to the recall issue and is fully covered and will get an equivalent (or plus) loaner. Glad I gave them benefit of doubt.

Good to hear, and welcome again

Where are you located and who is the dealer. It sounds like your dealer is okay.

What a low bar we now have for acceptable service. :)
Dealer doesn’t hassle someone regarding an obvious warranty issue. HOORAY!

That is why I said "appears". Unfortunately, there are bad dealerships with every car company but based on the unscientific forum results, Genesis seems to be at the low end of the spectrum for luxury car makes. I am fortunate that mine seems to be a good one (unless I just jinxed it).

Ok update- so my car was at the dealer for a few weeks and they fixed the driveshaft issue. I believe the long wait was waiting for the part. At least they gave me a nice GV70 electrified loaner which is somewhat comparable to my GV60. Overall they were very nice and professional.
Unfortunately a couple of days ago the “check vehicle electric system” warning ⚠️ came on.. So far car is running normally- any idea what they can mean? Scheduled service at the dealer to look at it again this week 🫣

Diagnostic codes in app are DTC P1BA800 and DTC POC4792, any insights into what these mean?

Unfortunate. By the way...I would be interested in your thoughts on comparing the Electrified GV70 to the GV60.

Yes indeed.. Hope I don’t have a lemon..
As far as GV60 vs GV70, it’s an interesting question which I was pondering myself. I think the answer is more or less in the way they present themselves.. GV60 has much more of a futuristic feel and is more technologically advanced vs the GV70 which feels much more like a traditional luxury suv. 70 also feels higher and more like an suv. For some reason in my personal experience the GV70 felt much quieter, for some reason the default manufactured EV noise is louder (and more annoying) on my GV60. (Yes I have EV sound set to the default off). 70 also has a suede headrest which I didn’t particularly care for, but that’s a personal preference. I preferred the charging part location on the 70 (front grille). Some of the 60 features I missed on the 70 may be just due to having the lower trim on the loaner vs performance on my 60 (HUD display, heated steering wheel, nappa leather etc), but others such as biometrics, large dual screens etc are 60 exclusive. In short for me personally I prefer the 60 interior and features, but I like the 70 exterior, quietness, and “suv feel” better. Next time around good chance I would take the top trim 70 over the 60 if prices are similar.
(Please excuse my rambling..)

Thanks. Pluses and minuses. For me, the SUV part is a negative. I prefer to drive a sedan (I was on the Lucid waiting list for a couple of years) but I like a smaller car so the GV60P was a good alternative to me. I agree that it is not very "suvish"; I think of the GV60- as essentially a raised hatch. I agree with you on the charging port location.

I think the MSRP prices are pretty similar with the GV70 a tad higher at the loaded level.

How do you compare the handling? My hope is to improve handling by changing out the Primacy tires for Pilot tires but I believe both vehicles have the Primacy tires so that is not a distinguishing feature.

I do love the GV60P. Sometimes I pass someone that I really don't have to but it is just so much fun.

I wanted a small luxury vehicle and GV60 (177.8 in) is smaller than the electrified GV70 (185.6″). I also wanted a ground-up EV, which the GV70 is not.

Charging pauses - Anyone experienced same problem charging at home on Level 2?

Recently my GV60P paused charging after couple hours. Often around 40-55% charged for no reason. I have to use the app and ask to charge again. Sometimes it will be fine but half the time it will stop around 60-70% again.

Anyone know about this? Is it overheating or another software issue? Currently I am using the Grizzl-E charger.

Thanks.

I use the Charge Point Flex. I charge every night to 80%. I have never had this happen BUT I rarely am below 50% when I start charging.

Are you charging at 48A? If so, it's a known problem and there is a class action lawsuit - Hyundai, Kia & Genesis EV Battery Charge Defect | Hagens Berman

You can try lowering the amperage at the charger or via the car (Car has 60% and 90% options). Another option is to get the software fix which will automatically lower the charge rate when the port is overheating.
