  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ruissimo's Ownership "Blog" - The 5.0 R Spec

Very enjoyable read. I've had my 2012 V6 for a month now. I test drove an R-spec and on the highway I was pretty away by it. I decided I wouldn't be able to afford the speeding tickets and was more than happy with the V6 around town anyway - with the tech & premium packages I'm very happy with my V6.

I've put about 1,000 miles on and am also really impressed by the adaptive cruise control. It is amazing the feel of the car braking by itself. In the winter I'm going to keep further back though in case crap builds up on the area where the sensor / radar is.

Lexicon 17 speaker stereo sounds great. My only difference in taste is I prefer the sterile front of the car. All the other Lazy Hs are gone though replaced by Genesis badges. My neighbor's wife noticed the other day "is that your car? - I don't recognize the symbol on the back..."

Hmm.... no such noise on mine. Just had its 15,000 mile service today, as a matter of fact. Well... 14,124 mile service LOL.

Mine is, however, TOO quiet sometimes.

1st World Problems.

Seems I should take it in and have Hyundai listen to it. The noise I have is similar to high pitch wrist pin sound.

Russ do you know what paint sealer your detailer used on your original detail? Great job BTW. I never thought my wife would like a BLACK car, but your blog might have changed her mind! (I like Titainium, Red and Black) Many thanks for the original review.

That whistling/whining noise might be an idler pulley. My whine got progressively louder. I had the technician listen and they replaced the idler pulley. The whine is gone. The service writer said that this defect was common.

+1. I called my dealer and described the sound. The service manager said it's probably the idler pulley. I took it in, and sure enough that was it. Easy fix.

Bump to get Ruissimo to comment on the paint sealer used on his car.

I replied to your PM. Sorry... been real busy at my new job.

Dg moore and Vince, was that noise on a 5.0 or the 3.8
Do you know if there is a tsb I should tell them to check?
I think I have it on my Rspec.

I have the 3.8. I'll bet the 3.8 and the 5.0 use the same pulley. I don't think there is a TSB. My dealer remarked that this was a common issue and he showed me were grease was collecting around (and I assume he meant from) the pulley. It's been silent and clean since replacement.

I have a base 3.8 genesis as a rental this week.
It doesnt have the whistling/bird noise that mine does under the hood.
ill mention it on the next oil change.

This car has dunlop tires on it, they are loud as hell. i would never put up with them if they were on my car

I haven't found any new posts regarding steering wheel kickback although I've seen it mentioned a couple of times. I lost my Rspec to m wife so I have not driven it for quite a while. Went on a trip and noticed significant steering wheel kickback on rough patches of pavement.

I took it to the dealer for that and a few other issues that warranty would not cover. (related to the parking sensors-one came loose. I ended fixing it for $5.00 worth of epoxy.) Anyway they said they did not feel anything "outside of normal" for the kickback issue. Has anyone found a solution, maybe different tires etc. I did not realize how annoying it is until I got away from the vehicle for a while and have been driving a few other vehicles that have zero kickback.

How many of you guys and gals are dissatisfied with Hyundai's customer service? They never fixed the gas smell (summertime only). I just purchased a new SUV and I thought about a Sante FE but with the lousy dealers here I went elsewhere.

Dissatisfied with Hyundai customer service I was. After not even attempting to fix an electrical short I showed them, I sold the car and bought my Kia K900. Have had much better customer service experience from the Kia dealership as they have to be certified to sell the K900 so their service is second to none...
